      evansdrad the Elves didn’t support the battle at helmsdeep. They won’t take up arms unless their land was invaded because they had lost so many during the last alliance and because Sauron would act out much more aggressively and unpredictably if he expected an elf invasion

    Correction 1: It was Erkenbrand not Eomer who led foot soldiers to Helm's Deep.
    Correction 2: Dead Men of Dunharrow defeated the Umbar in the south, allowing Aragorn to bring more soldiers from southern Gondor to fight at the Pelennor Fields.
    Correction 3: The King of Dale after the war was Bard II, not Brand II

    Things go like every creation of Eru have their meaning and purpose. Eru created the Elves and with their craftsmanship and magic they created artefacts that defined history of Middle Earth: Silmarils, Palantiri, necklace of Nauglameur, ring of Barahir, 19 Rings of power; the legendary realms of Gondolin, Doriah and Nagothrond and their heroes and swords went down in history as the greatest of all. Their legacies and wisdom would live on to later Ages carried by Galadriel and Elrond.
    On the other hand Men the second-born of Eru awoke much later when the Elves were the dominant race in ME with the on-going war with Morgoth and many swore allegiance to the High Kings of Noldor. Later with the rise of Numenor as the strongest nation in the world, pride and greed of immortality would change the course of history in ME. With the fall of Numenor came the birth of Great Kingdoms of Men: Gondor and Arnor, their blood and sweat would be the dominant force fighting the dark foes for thousand of years. After the War of the Rings the Age of Men would finally spring upon Middle Earth.
    Elves were the arch-enemy of first dark lord Morgoth while Men were the bitter enemy of second dark lord Sauron. Both dark lords hated and feared Elves and Men respectively. Dragons were bred by Morgoth, his greatest weapons and we know that all the named dragons of ME were all slew by Men, no Elves or Dwarves ever killed a dragon, with only exception of Earendil who were born half-Elven and he is too half-Men.
    If you guys look at it this way as if Eru the had foreseen the future and that every lives he created have its purpose of existence.

    Everyone gives Isildur a lot of sh*t for not destroying the ring, but he did a lot of good before the War of the Ring, in saving the White Tree and establishing the fortress Minas Ithil. And also, at the Crack of Doom, no one, not even Sauron, if he chose to, could destroy the Ring there. That's why Eru had to "push" Gollum when he bit the ring off Frodo's finger.

    I think Gandalf assumed Bilbo picked up one of the minor rings, most likely from one of the dwarves. He wanted to see if a Hobbit could resist its power, unaware of it being the one true ring. This proved as an even greater test, as it took Bilbo decades to become corrupted. Even then, he had no trouble handing it over. Gandalf knew from this that giving the ring to Frodo or another Hobbit was the best idea, as giving it to a human, they would be corrupted in seconds; and elves, maybe days.

    Were there any Elves or Dwarves left on Middle-Earth ? .It feels like all the magic left that world after Sauron was defeated .Like it was all barren , a wasteland .No more magic , no more foes to vanquish , no more people to save and ( Something that would at one point make Bilbo Baggings glad and heartbroken at another ) no more adventures .Bilbo wrote his poem saying goodbye to Middle Earth .And so , we part too .

      That's the point, and that's why all the Elves were so sad in the book, cause their time was ending as was magic. Thus the time of men began and our real world timeline begins.

    • @VPortho
      @VPortho 5 років тому

      Saruman "should" have been called to Halls of Mandos, but he was barred from returning. His spirit was left naked, powerless and wandering, never to return to Middle-earth as Tolkien indicates:
      "Whereas Curunir was cast down, and utterly humbled, and perished at last by the hand of an oppressed slave; and his spirit went whither-soever it was doomed to go, and to Middle-earth, whether naked or embodied, came never back."

  • @kosmonautdan6715
    @kosmonautdan6715 4 роки тому

    The part in the movie with Isildur leaving with the Ring was a bit stupid. There he is in Mount Doom with Elrond right behind him and he goes "no." And then what? They just let him walk out of there, order his man to pack it up an ride home while everyone looks on and does nothing? Elrond and whoever else was there could have easily solved the whole thing right there by just knocking him out.

    You still manage to impress after all those videos. I thought your work on ASoIaF was excellent, but the LotR Videos just top that. The lore is so rich and even a hardcore fan misses many historical aspects from the appendices and the later additional texts...nevertheless you manage to get nearly everything right and still maintain your precise but quick style. Imo your work is some of the best content regarding fantasy / scifi lore. Thank you so much for your effort! 👍

    • @Codexter1

      Indeed there he died a great villian while the book's version made him a desperate character even defeated by hobbits.

    • @ZerogunRivale
      @ZerogunRivale 5 років тому +2

      With all due respect, I disagree. The point of the last battle in LOTR is that even the Hobbits and their lands are not immune to war and when crisis comes, nobody is immune to it. It was a final way of testing the 4 Hobbits who showed how much they had learned while also showing that the Shire had to stand up to fight as well. Sure, the movie death is more "epic" or whatever, but thematically, this works better. Also, the point of Saruman is that he is pretty pathetic. He thinks he can somehow become a god by becoming "Saruman of Many Colors" (a part of the book unfortunately left out of the movies). To see such a man bring himself so low to me depicts just how pathetic having a god complex really is.
