In the LOTR, people used to say "the One Ring and its power caused so much tragedy and suffering". Well, the silmarills caused a lot more death and destruction, and they were never tainted by evil. In fact, they repelled evil. Just becase something is made by pure hands and from pure origins, it doesn't mean that it can't be a cause for evil.
To be fair, it was more the Oath of Feanor and Melkor coveting Silmarils that caused the evil. Not the pure thing itself, but the desire to dominate it.
I find it so crazy and compelling how a majority of Middle Earth's history, even events not in the Lord of the Rings, are revolving around the dangers of greed, desire and material wealth.
On the subject of Fëanor and his sons, their story resolves around the dangers of those considered honourable and the unthinkable acts committed in the name of what is preserved as right. At least that’s what I interpreted after the conclusion of their crusade.
@@elijahlivingston9477 They were Oathbound. Consider- Tolkien was a Christian. The Bible states, swear no oaths, but let your yes be yes, and no be no (Book of James). The message is that you have no idea what evil the binds of an oath may bring you to do. That was the Doom of the Noldor. Edit: He also fought in WWI, which was triggered by a set of alliances leading to many countries becoming hostile over a single incident. And the horrors that single act brought forth.
I can only imagine the Silvan Elves in Mirkwood. After 3 Ages Melkor was imprisoned in Valinor, tens of thousands of years, with only the stars in the sky. Suddenly a great big moon and sun appear in the sky. I like to think the reason the rest of Middle Earth doesn't play a role in the First Age is because the elves there spend the entire age screaming "What the heck is that" at the sun everyday.
Well, we don't know how vast Middle-Earth truly is. There might be some Elves far in the East that may have never known about the Valar, Morgoth, the war on Beleriand...
A very great video as always CivilizationEx, and I don't think/doubt that Melkor/Morgoth had other evil creatures and monsters besides orcs, trolls, dragons, the remaining evil maiar, wolves, and evil men during the war of the great jewels.
I love this video from beginning to end. The info is so much to take in. But dang. What a person would do to stop evil. Any means necessary haha. Alot of what ifs in my opinion of this First Age.

Constructive Criticism: You should slow your delivery down a bit and let it breathe. Major events need time to “land” before you move on to the next plot point. Currently, your narration sounds like you’re just rushing through the story like a teenager giving a book report

That's a fantastic interpretation.

Def one of the most violent and destructive periods of time in all of middle earths history
Terrific.
Subbed. ✔️
So will this be the new First Age video or is it just meant to focus on the war?
War only, I will remake the First Age video later this year.

Do storm light archive next
That actually is the next universe I want to cover, just not sure when I will get to it.
Can you do some Dune lore?
Eventually I will but I'm not sure when exactly.
Plz do Darth Bane Part 6
It ended where the book ends. What else could they do
