Nice video. I first saw this method on LoLoHo. I have a 1999 f250 7.3L. Yup...20 years old now, and, I love this truck! I mean, its a TANK! I am about to retire and begin my RV life. Cant afford the new trucks, so, I took my truck to a trusted mechanic, with nothing actually wrong with it, and told him to open everything (engine/turbo/6 speed transmission/rear end) and make it a new truck that will last another 20 years towing from Alaska and back multiple times. Even a new paint job, rhino bed covering, straight 4" exhaust, cold air dam, and install an exhaust brake. Cost me $9K, but, that was easier to swallow than $80K for a new DEF computerized headache. Point is, I totally understand investing in what you already have.

6.0s get a terrible rep but they really aren’t as bad as people think. If you run good coolant(ELC) and quality oil you will save yourself a lot of headaches. I’ve had a stock 6.0 for 4yrs now with no issues. Also keep in mind a 6.0 is a lot easier and cheaper to fix than anyone of the new trucks.

Mopar Charger Not 100% sure what you’re asking. But the 2011s are really good trucks if you tow heavy a lot. There only problem is the turbos tend to fail prematurely. You’ll most likely get better fuel economy out of a 6.0 if you’re doing a lot of daily driving. In my 6.0 I avg about 16mpg and about 10-12 pulling my 11,000lb fifth wheel

I was just wondering did you also delete the factory oil cooler in your 6.0 , with a bulletproof Air-To-Oil cooler with BPD OIL FILTRATION, I think that would be the best thing you could do on a 6.0 , the reason why I say is , I believe that the factory oil cooler is the main component that will fail within 20-30 thousand miles and ruin everything and if it does fail it could also blow your egr cooler without you knowing unless you keep your eye on the oil and coolant temps I would say never let them be different than 15 degrees and then it could also blow your head gaskets too if you don’t take care of it soon and if you keep running it forget it but if you add the bulletproof diesel air to oil cooler your truck will last a long time and you won’t have to worry if your egr cooler will go bad especially with the bulletproof egr cooler that’s a badass cooler , I have that set up in my truck with bulletproof and I couldn’t be more happy , good luck with your 6.0 , just a thought I had watching your video thumbs up 👍

Bulletproofed ours myself last year. I bought the truck and the egr cooler blew on our first trip a week after buying it. Thats when I found out roadside insurance is a waste of money. I had to get the truck and trailer home myself. So far the truck is running great and doesn't come close to getting hot. Even with the cost of the truck and the 5k to bulletproof it I'm way under the asking price of a newer truck.

I have a 06 Lariat F350 with now 450K kms/280k miles on it. It's never been in the shop since I've owned it. Like most I've replaced the egr, oil cooler and with them new rad, water pump, t-stat and overflow bottle, 48v ficm, rebuilt the turbo, pull the injectors every 60k kms for a Ford seal refresh, change out the batteries and alt about every 3 years as the truck just loves them. Of course with all that mileage the usual suspension and brake work. All of this work has been done in my driveway with nothing but basic weekend mechanic tools. Seriously the truck is not that hard to work on and the parts are more than reasonable and easily located.
Truck is my daily ride and pulls my 8000lb RV on weekends.
I've always tried to keep it as close to OEM as possible. Find the truck has plenty of power stock - it IS a hot rod, gets decent fuel mileage for something that weights 8000lbs and is certainly the most comfortable truck I have ever owned, fantastic seats, it's just huge inside!
Looking back at what I've done I'd easily buy another one.
One thing to consider when buying ANY used diesel regardless of the badge on it you either better be very handy or have deep pockets as ALL these trucks will require some work eventually and if you are not up to the task shop rates are very quickly going to eat into the very reasonable cost of purchasing used. Shop oil and filter changes are crazy too! Do all that home as well.

At the prices manufacturers are charging for new trucks, the internals should already be bulletproof! There is NO excuse for putting cheap plastic garbage parts in a heavy duty engine like this. This is noting but a scam and buyers need to stop playing along with it. NOBODY needs a $70,000 new truck.

"You don't need an hpop upgrade, What it all includes is arp headstuds, resurface and check heads, new head gaskets, new OEM oil cooler, clean turbo, stand pipes and dummy plugs, new rebuilt Full Force injectors. Everything with a 1 year parts and labor warranty for $7k out the door. Unless we find something weird inside that should normally do it. If anything else is wrong we will advise before proceeding so no surprise for you"

Hey Jared, what is your opinion regarding dually vs single. If could go back when you purchased your truck, and buy a dually instead, would you? What is your dream truck for pulling a fifth wheel? We are going to purchase a 30-35 foot fifth wheel, something in the 15,000GVWR range. We would love to get the dually but would be a pain in parking lots and going deep off-road. Any thoughts would be helpful, love your content?

If I could buy a truck right now I would pick the 3500 SRW Ram Cummins. The payload is surprisingly good compared to what we have now and I think would handle our large rig well. The Ram has better payload ratings on the tradesmen 3500s than the f350s I’ve looked at. That’s just my 2 cents, I know the dually’s have a few advantages but I’m just not a fan of an even bigger truck than we have. But I would not pick a 250 or 2500 I would definitely look at the SRW 1 ton.

So, why would the OEM plastic water pump blades break off again? versus the Bulletproof metal blades?, if bulletproof pump provides for more circulation, I could see that, but otherwise, why?

If the push rods aren't up dated to the 6.4 on the 6.0 the longer push rods will take that motor down in time... especially when rebuilding the heads and Milling it, the need for shorter pushrods is even greater...confirm...confirm... a lot of shops do not replace the push rods two the Updated 6.4...

Kind of surprised not to hear that an external water filter was installed. I put one on to filter those particulates out that clog the oil cooler. I installed HPOP w Blue Spring Upgrade. Get a good water bottle cap- stock caps are terrible. I bought a Scan Gauge II two years ago, plugged it in, and had a 30 degree delta between oil and water temps. That kicked off my round of bulletproofing. I couldn't justify the cost of the ARP headstuds- if I could have done the project for less than 2k- I would have. Great video. Thanks.

I am retired and decided to replace my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 because of the fuel cost. I knew that I was going to have to wait for the best deal and I took a year and half. Knowing about the 6.0 liter ford I refused to even look at any Fords and then the dealership I was working with came up with a local trade in of a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 liter Cummins with the 8'bed. Really nice truck with 122,000 miles and had a Airdog fuel system kit all ready install. I got the best truck I could afford and will be selling my older Dodge in the near future. When my wife and I RVed across the country last year (gone for 7 months) we saw several Fords on the side of the road and everyone of them had the 6.0 liter. We took one gentleman and wife in a Ford 6.0 liter from 40 miles out of Rapid City into town where they could a wrecker to tow them in, from the looks of the truck the EGR cooler did major damage to the engine.

The Ford 6.0L PowerStroke. An engine that was so poorly designed and built, that an entire industry was created to fix them.. Bulletproof Diesel, Powerstrokehelp and others have made a fortune thanks to Ford. And the 6.0L was a gem compared to the 6.4L that followed it. And then Ford screwed over many of their loyal customers who bought these trucks while they still had warranty. Not hating on Fords per se, as I love the old 7.3L. I would have no issue owning a 'bullet proofed" 6.0L, but, I don't think I'd be willing to drop $7000+ on a 12-16 year old truck just to make it reliable.

    • @buckhorncortez
      @buckhorncortez 5 років тому

Ford didn't design or build the 7.3, 6.0 and 6.4 motors - that credit goes to Navistar - International. Ford didn't "screw" people with the warranty. Navistar - International refused to participate in the warranty work which is why Ford stopped using them, designed the 6.7 liter and built a completely new factory dedicated to manufacturing that motor. I've had 1988, 1995, 2000, 2007, 2011, and 2019 Ford trucks with diesel motors. The 6.7 liter is better than ANYTHING built by Navistar - and that includes the 7.3 liter.
