For a rose, I would recommend the historic rose, Madame Alfred Carriere. A French noisette from 1879, palest pink opening to creamy white. Wonderfully fragrant, will bloom deep into the autumn, although the heaviest display will be in June. And as a bonus, not very thorny, there are a few, but not a lot. Oh, and I forgot, generally healthy. She can blackspot, but not too terribly.
Hi Louisa! Hope I spelled your name right My name is Mrs. Lori I have a UA-cam Channel called Whippoorwill holler We live in the Hills of Arkansas Way across the pond! I just wanted to tell you and Mark that even we are totally different I love your knackered style I too love antiques and primitive I enjoy going to antique shops Flea markets is what you call car booths? Your style is so neat I Love how you and Mark and the girls work so hard at restoration of your home and making it a home with so much Love Your home is who you are So homey I Love your ideas for your gardens I too Love a cottage Garden I've had people remark how cluttered my home is It's not cluttered it's things I love And I see that with you when you find things that you love so much for your home and garden Keep up the hard work and videos I Love to see your progress and Love to go Looking with yall for those knackered finds!
I have a fabulous apricot colored climbing rose growing in full sun. It believes most of the summer and it’s called Princess Margareta - she’s gorgeous and fragrant!!
'Claire Austen' is a lovely climbing rose, pale peach, has the fragrance of Myrrh and has good health. She climbs up to 12' and is repeat flowering. Maple looks as if butter wouldn't melt ❤🐾
Love how much fun you and your husband are having! Here are two rose names, one is called Albert in which ie a lovely peachy color. Another is called Royal Sunset a very reliable fragrant apricot rose. Good luck picking a good one, take care, Bronwen
Jacob‘s robe is the name of a peachy creamy rose. It is just absolutely beautiful. The tips turn peachy to a pink and it is they’re just beautiful. These roses are also pest resistant and Hardy as can be. They flower all summer along all pool long way into October and till early November here in northern California and in Oregon. It is the hardest rose I’ve ever had as far as climbers are concerned . I’m generally horrible with plants, but this rose bush has survived 20 years.
I have not got a clue what Mark is suggesting for the shower cubicle, so can quite understand why you have to ask a few times to check you are on the same page with the design! But it is wonderful what you two are doing, and I love the fact that you are re using old things, that will look so great in your lovely cottage. xxx
Mark & I are having an interesting renovation journey. I'm acting out the part of interior designer, he's the tradesman and we have to both act out the part of project manager, interpreting what it is the other one is saying and how to deliver the end result.
Love the garden, love the sink, you and Mark work so well together. When you and Mark are discussing your plans, I am lost but enjoy the discussion nevertheless.
For your shower, I feel you need to clad the wood with a metal piece that has a groove built in so the wood doesn’t rot away. If you put up tile, they make pretty decorative narrow pieces as well.
I have grown William Baffin climbing roses, pale pink, old fashioned bloom l😍 I planted them bare root in early spring, grew them up the house on 4 trellises in northern Illinois and they were gorgeous. I lived in the north, so ordered them from a nursery north of me at the time. Hope this helps! 🌹
Hello both, so pleased that things feel like they are progressing and such sunshine in the garden ! The perfect rose match for your gorgeous old house is a David Austin rose Wollerton Old Hall. It is divine. Bye for now. Jean x
Best suggestion for a gorgeous scented apricot climbing rose = - Rosa 'Compassion'. The salmon-pink flowers of 'Compassion' are flushed with a warm apricot colour at their centre. This repeat-flowering variety has a strong, sweet fragrance and has been awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
My all time favourite climbing rose is Pierre de Ronsard it has so many flowers over a long period and they are great for cut flowers too although quite short but work so well in old ink bottles etc
Hi Louisa! The bathroom renovation is truly coming along, it is so help that you and Mark can work together and see the vision of the look you are wanting . Your garden is really looking wonderful , but those darn weeds! I was pulling weeds and I didn't know that I was standing on ants .my goodness they went up my pant leg and bites in seven places !! feels like a sting. The climb rose for your anniversary sounds perfect , I like David Austin roses I do have a few and they do nicely. I am wanting the Blush rambling rose however sold out ! Take care , Paula
Both you and Mark have worked so hard and sourced materials in order to achieve the bedroom and en suite bathroom you have dreamt about for so long. I have to admit I did struggle to understand when you were discussing the marble shelf! The garden has certainly come along in a very short time. Also, with regard to my obsession of the Globe Artichoke, I have bought some seeds which I have put into some compost and they are currently in my kitchen pending signs of life.If anything appears, I shall be amazed. 😂 Sophie
Your garden is coming along so well. It looks lovely. Rosa Buff Beauty is a lovely pale creamy apricot and would show up very well against your red brick walls.
Love Roses and have 16 in my garden, but do be aware most are susceptible to disease like black spot, which does not kill the rose but looks unsightly so spraying in spring with a product like roseclear may be necessary. June is the best month to go and look at roses in bloom in other gardens or garden centres.
A lovely vlog. Great to see bathroom progress. Its going to be lovely with all the ideas you have. Your garden is looking super too. Look forward to the next one. X
So glad for you all that the bathroom has picked up momentum. I love the visualizing and pulling together of the vision and making needed adjustments along the way. 🐞🌼🔨
My favourite is Cecile Brunner, King John Nursery near Burwash has it over a pergola where I take tea, and it is intoxicating. I loved it so much I bought it. Pale pink climber, repeating all summer and no problems with disease.
I love the David Austin roses , I have wollerton old hall and Rosa marigold growing on the front walls they are beautiful, and many more in different parts of the garden .
YO,UR GARDEN IS LOOKING LOVELY, GREAT IDEA FOR A CLIMBING ROSE, I WOULD RECCOMEND CLAIRE AUSTIN, NAMED AFTER DAVIDS DAUGHTER, EVERYTHING YOU WANT. I HAD WANTED A WISTERIA FOR YEARS, BUT AS YOU SAID ITS LIMITED FLOWERING, I ENDED UP GETTING RID OF MIME AS IT RUN A MUCK. HAPPY GARDENING. XXX
Looking great … in New Zealand we need special waterproof plaster board … then waterproofing needs to be done by a certified contractor…… 💵💵💵… and I’m with you Louisa …. What the heck is Mark trying to explain … 🤔😳😵💫😧
We did look into Jackboard but I think Mark decided against it. As for what Mark is trying to explain to me, I think we got there in the end but I can us having to go over it again 🤣

It felt like a paradise on Sunday. The weather was glorious.
David Austin has many beautiful climbing roses, so check out the varieties.
Yes both David Austin & Peter Beales, it just nice to hear of everyone's favourites and recommendations 😊

Thank you! I will look that one up 😊
'Claire Austen' is a lovely climbing rose, pale peach, has the fragrance of Myrrh and has good health. She climbs up to 12' and is repeat flowering.
Maple looks as if butter wouldn't melt ❤🐾
Thank you. That is one I had identified as a strong contender.

Thank you. I am loving all of these suggestions. It will be fun picking 'the one'
I can recommend WOLLERTON OLD HALL which is a David Austin English climbing rose. I've had mine for about 8 years and it flowers all summer.
Thank you. I'd highlighted that one as a potential rose. I will take a look at it again 😊
Great video. My suggestion for a climbing rose is David Austin’s Bathsheba. ❤
Thank you. That's a new suggestion to add to my list.
Lol to the pup! She did look guilty as charged!
She looked so guilty 🤣🤣🤣

@@jillychandler Thank you Jilly. We have both learnt so much
Love the garden, love the sink, you and Mark work so well together. When you and Mark are discussing your plans, I am lost but enjoy the discussion nevertheless.
I'm always on two minds whether to post out conversations but some weekends, this is all we do ☺️
You've definately got a globe artichoke! We grown them here in San Diego. I'd suggest a Queen Elizabeth climbing, pink rose for your anniversary
Thank you. I will look that one up ☺️
For your shower, I feel you need to clad the wood with a metal piece that has a groove built in so the wood doesn’t rot away. If you put up tile, they make pretty decorative narrow pieces as well.
Thank you. We are using the same wood which they use on boats so hopefully it will resist rot for quite some time 🤞🏻
Fantastic news about ur bathroom well done 🙌🌸 hi again from Ireland and my dog 🐶 Luna
Hi Tom & Luna. I hope you are well ☺️
I like your choice of a climbing scented rose for the house. The colour sounds perfect against the brick work.
Glad you like it!
The garden look so beautiful! So glad you will soon have a bathroom . ❤
Thank you. It's all coming together
We had hail this morning.Cold too.Glorious sunny late afternoon.
Hail! That's not good. Thank heavens the sun came back.
Love the bathroom sinks, and the progress in the bathroom. It will be so lovely. Garden is beautiful in bloom 🌞
The en suite is coming together beautifully and I really love your herb garden, the globe artichoke is amazing 😊❤
So nice of you. Thank you.
Garden looking fantastic, and I’m loving how you are repurposing old things and giving them a new life in the en-suite x
Thank you, it's what we love doing 😊

Your garden is looking really pretty.🌼🌼
Thank you Doris. I am thrilled with it.
May I suggest the fabulous Eden climbing rose. Might just meet your requirements. 🌹🌹🌹
Great suggestion!
I can without a doubt tell by Maple’s expression she is not responsible for the upturning of the bulbs. It was a pesky groundhog.😉☺️❤️
Only one problem, we don't have groundhogs in the UK 🤣🤣🤣
Awesome Louisa!!you and Mark arr rolling on! Curry dinner yum!
I could eat curry every day 😋 My favourite 😋😋😋

Ouch Paula. Ants can be quite vicious.
we bought Bathsheba climbing rose for our cottage from David Austin. Its a beautiful apricot / cream colour and smells amazing
It's a beauty 😍
To Maple proof garden, can put small mesh covers, and old wheels over plants and a small fence around the garden.
Now the garden has established she stays well away ☺️

I can see myself having a similar number. I adore them. I am planning to visit a rose specialist this month ☺️
I just went through a bathroom renovation and the decisions of those fiddly finished details can make one crazy. I know it did me.
There are so many decisions to make. I am pleased to see it coming together quickly though.
A lovely vlog. Great to see bathroom progress. Its going to be lovely with all the ideas you have.
Your garden is looking super too. Look forward to the next one. X
I have a treat in store for the next one.
So lovely looking at your beautiful garden. I'm pleasantly surprised at how it has evolved to this. Well done!
Thank you so much! It has delivered exactly what I envisaged (and more so)
Pierre de Ronsard is pink, tough, flowers about 6 months,is good inside in large bunches, lovely fragrance. Perfect climber but no hint of salmon colour.
Thanks for the info! ☺️
So glad for you all that the bathroom has picked up momentum. I love the visualizing and pulling together of the vision and making needed adjustments along the way. 🐞🌼🔨

Rosa nutabalis. The best rose ever ever ever
Correction rosa Mutabalis
Oh that's a shame - I loved the name Rosa nutabalis 🤣
I haven't heard of that one 😊
Cold , windy and rainy here 😩
The weather has turned again here too 😞
I love the David Austin roses , I have wollerton old hall and Rosa marigold growing on the front walls they are beautiful, and many more in different parts of the garden .
AHH Wollerton Hall is one that I'd ear marked. Thank you.
Just received their beautiful catalogue 🎉
I should order a catalogue ☺️
Very ‘homely’ as always xx
I try! Thank you
Is t it funny that homely has the totally opposite meaning in the US!
What does homely mean in the US?
😊😊😊its so lovely Imogen made lunch. The pictures of you in the garden would be nice in your coffee table book. Our English paradise.💐

That is what I thought about the wisteria. They are beautiful but are short lived.
You 2 are mad but amazing….. 🎉😊
I think that's a compliment 🤣🤣🤣
We'll soon find out about the cardoon/artichoke. If it produces purple thistles, it's a cardoon.🤓
Aghhh, time will tell ☺️
Watching now :)
Something ive wondered, did you take a video of the house when you 1st bought it?
Unfortunately not. Filming things is only a recent thing ☺️
All you have to do….all you have to do…

Mark, do it the least fiddly way. 😂
That is very good advice 🤣🤣🤣
Kirsten & Joerg: 2 Germans in Britain..... their latest video might be of interest to you. Bathroom is going to look fabulous.
Thanks Veronica. I will take a look.

Rose: New Dawn
Yes, thank you. New Dawn is definitely on my radar.
Albertine is the rose name but the darned computer changed it on me,Bronwen 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I hate it when that happens
Surely those are poppies not ranunculus? And what is in the big bin and basket by bench, more artichoke? Isn't gardening fun!
No, definitely ranunculus ☺️ Yes, the two planters by the bench has globe artichokes in too ☺️
Your " perfume cupboard of dreams " ! And then " my only perfumes " Interesting to hear what they are ?

Cecile Bruner
That's been mentioned by someone else too - definitely one to explore. Thank you.
@elegantlyknackeredstyle I also saw a David Austin rose today called "Rambling Rector"... cream color
Yes, I'm aware of that one. I think it might feature in my garden but not up the front of the house ☺️
