Haha, glad to hear people are actually watching that far! That was really fun to put together, even though I got in copyright trouble from Charlie Puth and Boyz II Men... Haha, that's a sentence I never thought I would type. But yeah, I was very emotional while filming and editing. Thanks for the support and thanks for watching! Really appreciate it.
it was a fun ride, one day you gonna be back. I'm thinking about 997TT now, BUT getting into any used spots cars means, new issues and fixing them, tired of it :) farewell ! Had my 996TT for 5 years! as you know i own F82 M4 now, same concept, twin turbo not much power just over 500 to the wheels. let me forget about my 996 A little :) haha.
I'd love a 997tt as a semi-modified daily driver, just bolt-ons and a tune. Then build another 996tt, but even more monstrous than this one. Maybe someday.
My first comment was prior to watching the whole vid... Man, that ending gave me some mild chills man. Showing I totally "Get" what you went through. I've owned over 40+ cars and have felt that way after selling a few myself. Sorry bro.
Thanks man. I thought I would be able to handle it much better but I was actually really emotional. I know it's just a car and can be replaced, but this one hit me like no other. I appreciate the support!
The Sound of Speed yup! I’m their photographer / marketer. We are currently trying to find a home for it. He rarely drives it, and it’s sitting in our showroom. :/ not the justice a car like this deserves. Could you put the word out? It’s for sale currently.
@@PedrosGarage that's very sad to hear. Do you have a link? There were a bunch of people that wanted it in my various 996tt groups/forums, and even at the end of bidding on BAT.
The Sound of Speed , Can you help us sell it? All we did was move the car from the transporter to the showroom and it’s sat there ever since. Shoot me an email if you’re interested, we will compensate you as well for your assistance. pedroamko@gmail.com Thanks again!
The Sound of Speed so far we’ve only posted it on Craig’sList, using your original BAT post to test the waters: washingtondc.craigslist.org/nva/cto/d/falls-church-modified-2003-porsche-911/7001072788.html
so the carrier was a puss! couldnt back it in the belly and moved 2 other cars to drive on top. did this for 14 yrs and tilton clutch is super easy to use!
He was young. I'm guessing like most, he doesn't really know how to drive a stick. The Tilton is easy, but does lock up if slipped too much. I felt bad for him haha.
first time viewer of your channel and videos. Because I just bought a 996 turbo so these videos are suddenly becoming interesting to me. Can you give me an approximate price to get the car to around 600whp?
600 whp is relatively cheap/easy. I did 525 awhp on stock X50 turbos with just bolt-ons. Parts list for 600whp is below, prices do not include labor to install. -Quality exhaust: $2500-$4000, can be found cheaper used or way cheap if you go straight pipes, but those are super loud and drone badly. Find something that's 3" diameter with an xpipe. -Quality intercoolers: $1500-$2500. You could probably run 600 whp on OEM GT2RS cores and be fine. Or step up to some custom 4.5" cores. I'd recommend Markski Tuning or Silly Rabbit Motorsports. -Clutch: $1500-$2000. Get a Sachs 2.0 or similar, will handle the power and a bit more with good driveability. You could delay the clutch but eventually the extra torque will kill the stock clutch. -Fuel System: $50-$1000. You could go cheap and spend $50 on just a 5 bar fuel pressure regulator. This might not get you to the full 600 whp, but pretty close, but you also won't be able to run E85. I would recommend going with something a little more robust and getting proper fuel injectors and a fuel pump. Injector Dynamics ID1000s would let you run pump gas, race gas or E85 up to 600 whp. For a pump, just upgrade to a Walbro E85 safe drop in unit, I think it's the 455lph, no need for anything else. -Turbo rebuild with billet wheels: $1000-$2000. Depending on if your car came with stock K16 turbos or K24 turbos, there are some options. Just get a quality billet wheel and call it good. Some hybrid K24 turbos can make over 700whp. Choose wisely. Bigger isn't always better. But if you think you may want 700 whp down the road, it's much cheaper to do it once. 700 hp turbos can be ran at 600 hp easily, but 600 hp turbos will never make 700. -DME tune: $1500. There's only one person I would recommend for a quality 600 whp build, and that's DJ Markski. Good guy, great service. He will probably have some opinions on the best way to achieve 600whp, to which I would recommend that you just listen to your tuner and go with what they recommend. So you're looking at probably $10,000-$13,000 realistically to build a nicely equipped 600 whp 996 turbo. Not chump change but that power level is super fun on this chassis. I would also recommend that you solicit advice from forums like 6speedonline.com and the 996 turbo Facebook groups (e.g. "Porsche 911 (996) turbo), lots of people with tons of knowledge and advice. If nothing else, I'm always happy to help. Thanks for checking out my channel, I have lots of other informative videos you should check out as well. Cheers!
@@TheSoundofSpeed Wow you are AWESOME! That info is very helpful. Thank you. Not too cheap but 600whp is a big number! If I were to do these mods, I would probably go 700 just to have the extra power if I ever wanted it (you know its never enough). Would you say your car is 600whp? I saw your drag racing video and seems like it should do better numbers. My 2015 GTR has a Cobb tune, intakes, full exhaust, y-pipe and I run 6.9 in the 1/8th consistently. I understand the launch on the GTR is amazing but I still trap 101mph. I would guess I am around 550whp.
@@reubenroll2144 no problem, happy to help! My car made a little over 600 whp on pump gas, 91 octane. In the drag racing video, I was running around E75 ethanol and full boost, which made 731 awhp on a Dynojet. My numbers at the track should have been way better, but being at 6000+ ft elevation and not having traction really hurt me. I think with drag radials, I would have been deep in the 10s, probably close to a high 9 with a perfect run. I mean, I was trapping over 140mph, which is a solid 9.7 to 9.9 mph with a good front 1/8th. But really, I was never chasing records or anything, just trying to have fun and not break expensive parts. But really... these cars are terrible at drag racing, so I'd avoid comparing it to your GTR, it will only make you sad haha. Best to just enjoy that analog feel and appreciate it for what it is!
@@TheSoundofSpeed Haha! I will NOT compare it to the GTR drag numbers. I know it's an older car with a manual gearbox and less technology. I do know that I will ejnoy my 996 more than I did the GTR. I was just wondering why the number seemed a bit low for the power that you were making but it makes sense--elevation, tires/traction always play a big role. It's nice to have the power when you need it and makes it a blast to drive on streets.
Seriously... but I still think about this car everyday. Life has changed a ton since then, but I will be back with another car/cars at some point. Something bigger, badder, faster.
