I'm a full-time commercial photographer (in TX). I support my wife and 7 kids with my camera. No part-time job on the side; it's all through the lens. With that said, I ALWAYS learn something when I drop in on one of Vanessa's videos. So wonderful. Thanks, Vanessa!
This is perfect for newbies like me, I recently worked with a male model and he did most of this stuff and would change poses when he heard the shutter, easiest pics I’ve ever taken, he really did all the hard work I was just trying to fill the frame and not cut limbs lol...thank you for the very useful content you provided here
What I appreciate about this video, compared to others is the explanation of each poses. The why. Explaining the difference between why men pose with an 90 degree angle, as opposed to others. Opening the chest...Why you want to tilt your head, point your nose etc. It's not just, yeah have good lighting. Yeah, groom yourself. So much in this video.
@@VanessaJoy I'm going to check out your free guide...I want to get better at taking selfies...and...Pictures of myself in general...but...All I have is the Galaxy Note 10+ right now and I can't even get the s pen to work to snap shots via Bluetooth!
Gotta love Vanessa's sense of humor. It's good to see us guy's having their portraits taken. I think women are more photogenic because they're used to being in front of camera's at a young age whereas us guys were not. That's starting to change and this video is helpful to me.
Thanks Vanessa for the video. Posing people is a very difficult to achieve as every model / client is different. Men and not so slim people are the most challenging !
LOVE your tutorials! @ 3:27 you're talking about high shoulder versus low shoulder. I'm confused why it's called that. It looks (to me) that his shoulders are opposite from what they're being called. I know I'm overthinking it, but Why? THANKS!
I finally have an answer for you about my camera strap! creative-teacher-9768.ck.page/1fb5eeedd8 this will be VERY limited so lmk here if you want to know when it's available!
Oh yeah...Love your videos and learning so much from it. Do you perhaps have/can you do a video on how ISO and shutter speed influence the exposure in flash photography 😅
I haven't been taking photos for too long, only really getting into it now. The biggest problem I have is forgetting every pose that I researched beforehand when I actually get to the shoot...😂😂😂😂
If hands in or out really matters, and that could depend on the subject matter or if he's doing something, his hands are generally in the pocket(s) with thumbs out. Think about what is happening. A man basically wants to be portrayed as masculin. All the information about a broad chest and head positioning hold true for most occasions. His chest and head are the important things the photographer wants to extenuate for most men when taking a portrait. If you need the his hands to be in his posket(s), having the fingers out, tend to attract the viewer's eye away from the upper portion of body. With wide hands down lower it tend to make the chest look not as wide. By having the thumbs out instead, by sight his chest and head remain wider looking.
@@VanessaJoy because the most photographers are not so beautiful. You are beautiful. And I am too. 😂😂😂😂😂 I am a new fan of you. Thank you for teaching us.

Ha yeah. Working with models is quite easy - posing non models is difficult!

Can I be honest? I’m confused about it too. I’m not quite sure why it was named high shoulder or low shoulder - I just know which one it is lol

I love this Vanessa, I would love to see how you post to male couples and two female couples if that ever becomes a video idea down the line.
Definitely!

I’m curious to know your focus point? Eye, nose, or some other point? I rarely hear that mentioned in videos like this.
Eye 😊
