Pro tip, plug a lapel mic into that second jack on the front and bam, you can sync with audio as it will record it to the screen recording. 👍

Thanks for sharing your setup! I just finished getting mine rigged up. Just wondering how you deal with the time stamp on the videos. My AverMedia time is incorrect and I assume it will reset each time the unit is powered off. @AlexTimm thanks for the sound tip!
Try using E6000 adhesive instead of super glue. E6000 if waterproof, highly elastic, and removable if you are so inclined. Guarantee better than super glue for this application

Was just about to buy a livescope bundle but now I need re-think what graph I buy because I definitely want to record for my videos.
Just remember that now the Echomap Ultra 2’s will also include screen recording! Not sure of all the details but if it saves you money from the GPSMap series I’m happy to help. Can’t go wrong either way especially if it pertains to you being able to screen record to your phone via ActiveCaptain or to an external device like in this video.
@@KansasAnglingExperience The new ultra 2’s will not have a hdmi out so that’s a bummer. I’m not keen on the idea of tying my phone up all day with active captain nor being able to sync good with GoPro footage since AC has no audio. Your new way solves all the problems especially if you use a mic in for audio to the pass thru device just for easier syncing to other angle footage. Love that idea. So now my decision comes down to 8610 or 1243 for budget reasons. Screen size vs resolution. Decisions Decisions!!!

Interested in that device. Always wondered if a ethernet to hdmi adapter would work for the ultra graphs? Instead of buying a new graph just to be able to record...

Get some 3M Dual lock, industrial grade kinda velcro but it works different, not hook&loop type shitty stuff. Expensive but you won't look back.
I had my wife pick me up this stuff, and she asked if I wanted the industrial grade. I was like “naaah I’ll be fine” 😂 thanks for the tip!
It should be mentioned that this trick doesn't work on all GPSMaps. Only the 8000 series has HDMI ports I believe
False, not just 8000 series. 1242 and 1243xsv both also have HDMI out.
@@KansasAnglingExperience I stand corrected. Double-checked and the 10x2 and 12x2 don't; 7x3 and 9x3's don't; 12x3 does in addition to the 8000 series. I was looking for an alternative way to record on my 943xsv because I had the same glitchy experience using Helm/Active Captain that you did.
I'm surprised you can't record directly onto one of the SD card ports on the back.
