- Finishing this year by getting a CRT TV is really crazy. I haven't had one of these in well over a decade so I'm beyond stoked to mess around with and use this thing again for my games. I forgot to mention in the video but there being no input lag is also amazing.
I've never done this sort of extensive vlogging before. I plan on doing more in the future but it's sloppy since it's my first time. If you like this sort of content let me know like subscribe and I'm sure to do more. Enjoy!
It's a long video but I slimmed it down from it being almost 40 minutes so it took a ton of work lol
First time I'm trying to do chapters as well:
00:00 How I got it/Type of TV
02:39 Temporary set-up & Turning it on
07:03 Testing the CRT
18:40 Conclusions
I also bought a CRT in 2023, even with three SCART-inputs and built-in Subwoofer, so great.
Oh that's so cool. That's a sweet pick up
Enjoy it my dude! :D
At my place in Bali I still use CRT
Great video, keep it up!
It really makes me feel nostalgic about the old times when i used to watch sports with my father on the sofa, we had so much fun back then, your voice is also nice to listen to too!
Oh that's such nice memories to have. I watched baseball with my grandpa all the time back then.
And thanks I feel very conscious about my voice tbh
Nice video like always.
Seeing a crt tv reminded me of my childhood too, it brings up so many memories.
also the picture from the crt looks quite clear (when the camera decided to both focus and expose correctly)
Yeah it's a really really nice TV. Hopefully by the end of next year I can have all the kinks worked out. Absolutely loved it. Felt like a kid again
I have always had a CRT in my house. Started with a 12" Black and White with my ZX81.... Moved up and up with each new computer, peaked at a 32" Sony with my 3DO/PS1 and used that for almost every console sincve. Am now back down to a small 14" unit, and use it for all my original retro computers/consoles. Which is... BBC Model B, Atari ST, Commodore 64, Megadrive, SNES.. Im 100% sure in missing sonmething in that list. lol..
made me miss the old crt tv i had in my childhood, enjoy your tv man it looks awesome
Thanks! We really gotta cherish those childhood memories
Nice pick up! I’m kicking myself in the ass for getting rid of my old CRT’s years ago. I’m definitely gonna try picking a couple up for some of my older consoles. I’d love to build another Arcade cabinet and use a CRT for the screen. This is great bro!
I have a very similar 32” CRT that has a similar build with component input. It’s an Apex. I found out that it’s a rebadged Toshiba and has a Toshiba picture tube. Great set. Love the video you did, great job.
Interesting to watch you inspect an "artifact" that was made after I graduated from High School lol, old man moment.
Congratulations brother 👍
I had a 1996 AKAI TV. It had great stereo. It made watching TVs and movies more fun.Especially, Incredibles, Harry Potter 5, Beethoven 1&2 and Beyonce B'Day
Man makes me feel old. We had so many different kinds of tv from the 80s to now
I discovered you not a while ago and your vids are really cool 🐐
Thank you so much I appreciate it 🤧
started to buy crt's in 2023 too spend most of my time doing my childhood room and i don't regret it, only thing i fear is the caps failing due to theirs old age and the fact that no crt repairshop exist anymore sadly :c
but otherwise i'am as happy as you, congrat on your akai it looks beautiful
Look for a tv repair shop that has been in business for a long time.
I promise you that the old guys in there didn't forget how to work on a crt.
@@osirisblaster ooh thanks for advice i'll defo look into this i hope that i can find a repairshop in france
have a very good day !!
@@michelveraliot for sure.
Have a great day.
CRT repairshops exist
I miss my JVC IArt pro. It was a 32" 1080i beast of a TV. 150lbs. Moving it around made a man out of you. I loved the picture on it. Only OLED tvs beat it in contrast.
For the PS2 disc tray hit the eject button and press the disc tray itself as if it was a button. The gears need to be lubricated that's why it gets stuck. Mine does the same thing.
Ahhh I see. That makes sense. Ok thanks for the tip!

🙏
For me, the last time I had a CRT was like 2012-2014, somewhere around there.
I bought one Toooooooooo , Im enjoying it so far , I even got modern games on it to see how the look in old tv
Oh man hooking up newer stuff to it sounds cool. Gotta try doing that too
Congrats 👏🏾 I was able to snatch a Sony Trinitron KV-27FS17 from 2001 for free. Had it two years now.
i have a crt too it's pretty cool. It's a Sony Wega Triniton KV-29FS120.
Nice, I recently got 2 small crt
I bought a 32 inch CRT to play SNES a few years ago. I forgot how friggin HUGE they are; it took too much floor space. Luckily I managed to re-sell it for a little more than I paid for it and the woman who bought it had a hand truck so I didn't have to help her carry it out!
Yeah it shocked me when I saw the size even for a 27 inch. I'm lucky I have a space for it for now but yeah it was quite the hassle to get it in the house and especially up the stairs.
@@JanTheMangaManmy biggest is a kv36fs300, easily 225 pounds, took a hand truck and two buddies to get it in the game room and up on the stand. Worth it.
a woman bought it? wtf?
Nice pickup for sure! most of the post 2000 flat screens with component are gems of tvs. If you want to get the best quality out of your SNES id recommend grabbing some HD retrovision cables for it, or a RGB Scart to component adapter and it will look amazing! If you have one of the earlier Gamecubes you can get 3rd party component cables for them pretty cheap now as well, but an S-Video cable for the mulit out for both is very cheap and imo about 90% of the way there so no problem going that route as well.
yeah baby! C R T!
congratulation for your first crt TV , now you have the idea ,
try to hunt , working low usage " sony, jvs, toshiba CRT Tv, preferred size less than 32 inch and bigger than 14 inch "up to you , with at least s-video connection , " component is better "
do not buy HD CRT if you wish to use the tv for ,nes, snes, genesis meag drive, ps1,ps2,
for original xbox and gamecube i prefer SD CRT and sometime HD crt( EDTV are rare and amazing to have one ) it depends ,
i start with only 1 sony trinitron 21inch,
now i have 25 crt tv and 17 pc crt monitor 😅, most of them are rare and worth to keep .
Crt scanlines ❤️
nice!
YEAHHHHHHHHH, BABY!!!!
Basicall yhow I felt on the inside the entire video 😂
That tv design is suspiciously similar to the Panasonic Quintrix 32" CRT From 2001-2002 that i had back then in my parents ' house
Wow amazing video, keep the good content! (bot reply sorry)
And obviously best way to show it first is with mario rpg, old tv make me nostalgic but it's not the things i'd buy to be happy, but glad you enjoy it
Thanks bro. Tbh it was a partial birthday gift so that in of itself adds to the happiness
they should bring back crt tvs not very big ones but little ones are OK to carry around 27 inch. I have a 17 inch smasung one with DVD & vhs
That sound that was heard when the tv turns on was used on Samsung tv’s mostly in the 2000’s and the 2010’s. they stopped using the sound when they switched to the iconic Samsung sound on the later flat screen TV’s
I was going to emulate, but better graphics isn't everything. You can't push frame rates higher on all games. There is lag. Motion clairty is very important. Crt's are like 1000hz to our eyes. I just bought a xbr700 for my playing ddr and 30fps games. I have an lgc1 77 with retrotink 4k, and it's amazing, but 30fps games and even 60fps games will won't look smooth with black frame insertion and deblur 10. I only use my oled when I feel like it or have more people over who want to play my retro games.
Nice vid, man. I can help you fix that disc tray issue, if you're not afraid of opening up the console.
This TV Is a Samsung rebranded Akai remote control, and Power switch of front it's similiar and Samsung TV series of 2001-02 5:17 pure Samsung sound Power on
Please let us know if are able to fix the issues and also if you get a new remote, I am having issues with mine too
try to hold the power button on the remote until the TV shuts off, then it should be paired
So a Samung TV with diffrent badge...
Anyways that's a nice TV you got here, even thought I have 2 TV's now but I still like get some more.
Yeah it is odd they did that to the Samsung ones later down the line but hey I'll take it lol.
Yeah I probably am thinking of getting a 2nd one in the future
@@JanTheMangaManwill you get a widescreen one?
You bought one, but you can get it also for free somewhere. I got it for free from the street, dumped by neighbour. Still working. They have almost no sell value on markets. Maybe only good brands and big televisions have some value.
And probably plenty CRTs on used markets. But they will more dumped because many will get LCD televisions.
Latest generation CRTs are even widescreen. They're more harder to get it than normal 4:3 format CRTs.
I hope you paid not too much for it.
I get where you're coming from but trust me I was searching for like a year and a half for one on and off. Always they were either too far away or too much. The ones in my neck of the woods down in the south just don't have any worthwhile CRTs lying around. So the one that finally came up was both close and I haggled down for it so it's no worries on that front. Tbh it's the inputs that make it worth it. I appreciate the suggestions tho ❤️
Oh da,n that makes me feel.. old as hell dude.. ngl I had one I could use well actually ngl a kareoke macjine fwiwvrecently if not still in my folks place but it is too small to use but a color set in hs like in my junior year sometiem fwiw was unfortunately dropped of at goodwill.. oh well fwiw it was at least 16ish years and still worked at least fwiw with the remote commander included from in its box still even if the lid for the flip cover for more buttons.. was slightly loose etc.. but fwiw it was able to still be used fwiw ftw.. and had its manual for owner use.. not service manual tho it was a hd sony KV32HV600.. hell itvwas a year younger than I was or two years younger idk.. as was 400 off since it was acquired as the former model years released model.. but yeah.. 1600 well worth it to jave had it only as lil as 100 for each year.. hell twice as long lifespan that the KDL40xbr2 lasted.. and like 400 usd LESS on cost as well.. fwiw onoy differencevwas one dv port input vs 3 hdmi and had 2 more s video inputs.. but other than not doing progressive of the 1080 res level.. it was just a about 10 incjes smaller and was just a 180.6? Or else 176.6 poumds but still tbf the 06 model was a 70 poumd flat panel tv so.. some say big diff but I say hey recall when flat panel tvs weighed 70 pounds and were a big 40 inch set.... even if yeah the crts in the flat faced 40 incj size of 01 and 02 that coukd have been opted for were 304 pounds a d the 89 model pvms of 45 inches were 445 pounds.. yeah fwiw thigns could be different but.. still fwiw the kv32hv600 lasted and the kdl?? Or kdlXXxbr2 tv sets were lemons and few had THEIRS last 8 uears vs the purportedly faulty power supply baord? Go after a year,, so fwiw even if my notsaglia clouds me up in memory.. the few grand for a one year tv was pretty bad.. for a lemon series.. but still to think a older tech outlasted by over double that of the newer tech.. is crazy fwiw imho.
Eh just food for thought ig.. though yeah those crt sets if ya get fortunate with one then they willlast and last.. and last.
Oj one more thing thougj a 29 incj set fwiw the kv32hv600 will have a 4:3 screen but ftw if it is used with wide shows then it can show a nearly 24 inch sized screen by not wasting the picture limes trynna draw up the black letterbox bars at top/bottom by using means via the vertical compressed mode.. eg sqaushing back into 16:9 view.. the image. To retain a wide picture.. whereas the 40 inch kdl40xbr2 is either normal 16:9 or lose some qaulity from the originally 4:3 to natively render it in a always 1080p but wide 16:9 screens shape with two black (pillarboxings the name) at left/right sides.
But yeah.. fwiw wide screens still nowdays fairly noiice ngl.
I even still use a CRT TV 😅
aku teknisi tv crt sampe sekarang masih aktif..salam dari jawatengah indonesia..ini darimana ya
19:13 Steve Jobs 1979 ??????
lol its weird the tvs that used to be in our living rooms ppl r making videos about them now. we gettin old
You look like Steve Jobs
When he was young I hope 😭
I don't understand anything
sorry ( ; - ; )
Cool voice tho
It's ok! I expect that you wouldn't but I still ill appreciate you watching ❤️
And my voice is lame don't lie 😭
@@JanTheMangaMan nuh uh i liked it
EMULATE BRO!!! STOP WASTING MONEY, TIME AND SPACE ON THESE THINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
it's his life,not yours.
he can do whatever he wants with his money.
@@kirbytooie64 but emulation is free 🙄 who can argue with that??? You can even use crt filters on them too
CRT’s are just cool and aesthetic and filters can’t really replace that
Get outta here with that emulation stuff
@@SolidNatePhones it’s the future LMFAOOOOO if you can’t understand that, then you’re dumb
Look at me I bought a CRT TV oooooh. I took a crap this morning. I should make a 23 minute video about it.
Soooo what’s wrong with this dude making a vlog about his CRT? You hate seeing people happy, huh?
