thanks for the comments everyone. Quick answers:
- The perspective grid was just drawn with the brush, cloned, and then rotated into place
- 99% of this painting was done using the default chalk brush (from the dry media brush set which comes w/ PS)
- In general, try to collect your own textures (as in take the pics yourself) and background plates. And always refer to nature - its not copyrighted! :)

I have studied Design & Concept Design for now 4 years +, and I never used or was shown how to use Texture stock the way you have shown here, the Zebra texture is a classic example of using it out of context with great results, thankyou
It depends on how icy you want the fog to be. It is a soft round brush, but you can experiment adding a Texture at Multiply at a 5-10% for a more icy fog.

@miniteichman Looks like the Line Tool and the Transform Tool to scale and match the perspective.
Just keep working at it.

I'd really wish you would make a video or two about perspective. I know, you can't understand and learn the rules of perspective in such a short time, but at least some useful tips for people who have problems with perspective (like me). You are doing really good work! :)

@TheVoices297 thats what i was wondering too. im pretty sure you can still be sued if they can prove its someone elses texture in your work. im not a lawyer or anything but i shall look it up. but if i dont find anything im not going to use another persons photos for anything, just to be safe
What is Feng using for the perspective grid? Is it the pen (vector) tool, or just the brush tool? Thanks

I used to wonder why people had such a hard time learning to draw. I've been drawing my whole life, so I didn't really understand why people just learning to draw experienced difficulty. Now that I'm getting into digital painting, I'm starting to understand there troubles xD.
For correct lighting take a photo with a camera, put tracing paper over it, and take a black marker and white paint and simply the photo into complete black and white, but stick with highly rough shapes, don't go into details. When you sketch use a marker and only sketch the complete highlights, and then complete shadows, absolutely no mid tones. It'll speed your lighting knowledge.

What brush types and styles do you use??
@DeidaraAkatsuki13 He uses the standard brushes and a Wacom Intuos 4 L.
