The Prime Minister's official spokesman said Israel had a right to defend itself but too many Palestinian lives were being lost, with a "clear and present risk" of a humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Plus, the Israeli election system is a mess. Every government relies on at least one or several radical/religious party to form a coalition with. With the exception of the Arab parties/independents, none of the parties were EVER seriously interested in a peace process. Sorry but noone can convince me otherwise.
