- A British aid worker is among seven volunteers who have been killed by an Israeli airstrike in central Gaza, the World Central Kitchen has confirmed.
Volunteers from the UK, Poland, Australia, a dual US-Canadian citizen and one Palestinian were among those killed in the Gaza city of Deir al-Balah where they were delivering food to displaced Palestinians.
All seven of the volunteers were understood to have been employees from the World Central Kitchen - a charity devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters, according to the charity's CEO Erin Gore.
James O'Brien is joined by Jerusalem-based journalist Noga Tarnopolsky to react.

James 3 vehicles were targeted, with the first & last being over 2.4km apart. The IDF decided to make 3 targeted strikes, not one.

Haaretz have reported on this today. There were 3 marked vehicles, 2 were armoured. The IDF have mentioned they thought there was an armed man who they declared a terrorist (this person may not exist as it may well be an excuse). The destroyed vehicles were spread over 1.5 miles and each vehicle was attacked by a Hermes 450 drone, when one vehicle was attacked the survivors were picked up by another in the convoy, the 2nd armoured vehicle was then attacked, survivors moved to 3rd vehicle that was then hit and totally destroyed and all killed. This was a targeted attack and they were executed. Read the Haaretz article (it’s in English). The aid ships have now been turned back to Cyprus and WCK have left Gaza as they can’t risk the safety of their staff. WCK were feeding thousands and were purifying the water, this means the famine will get worse and more will die. The WCK CEO summed it up perfectly in their statement “This is not only an attack against WCK, this is an attack on humanitarian organizations showing up in the most dire of situations where food is being used as a weapon of war. This is unforgivable”

About 40 years ago, in South Africa (that had a large and influential Jewish population who've mostly now "settled" in Israel), I worked with and was friends with many Jewish people. More than 196 aid workers have been killed in Gaza since October, according to the US-funded Aid Worker Security Database, which records major incidents of violence against aid personnel.
Most of those killed since the war broke out six months ago worked for the UN agency for Palestinian refugees, UNRWA, which runs the biggest aid operation in Gaza.

It was NOT true that the reporter who was hit in Lebanon was in an active war zone. They were miles away pointing their cameras over hills and mountains at the zone. The zone was small and all the explosions were hitting the target, and they were on a country road surrounded by green. There was no one around them either soldiers nor civilians, and no bombs were exploding between them and the zone. If they got them by accident there would have needed to be some insane number for the probability to work out. It would be like someone stepping out their door and getting hit by a falling bullet after some one shot their gun in the air on the 4th of July from ten blocks away.

Usually all aid is delivered during daytime hours only, because it is so dangerous during the night in a war zone. I would like to know why that aid had to be delivered in the middle of the night ?

This may be a cynical view, but is it possible that they targeted them, knowing they would probably withdraw workers as a result, and stopping the aid, then blame the agencies for the starvation. With some of the statements they have made, this does not seem a step to far from reality
And sadly it has worked the aid agencies have stopped sending any workers in Gaza to help feed the starving population
