Hello Tyson, 54k miles in the first year is a lot!!! Did you force yourself to drive to blog that car or been obligated to some sort of miles? I'm just curious how that number is possible. It's a lot of time driving. Thank you
I know. That was a crazy year. I really did drive a ton. In fact, within about two weeks of getting the car I drove it from Phoenix to Milwaukee and back for an Acura Legend meet.
There wasn't a mileage obligation, I just was enjoying driving it a lot. Funny thing though, the car was out of warranty based on mileage before it was even one year old.
I purchased a used 2013 Acura ILX after watching your video. Two years later, I still have it and currently use it as my daily driver. It has 215,000 miles on it and is the best car I've owned.🙌
This is small mileage for a BMW and Mercedes though. 5 series and e class are used in most fleets in Europe and taxi examples from 2017-2020 are now often for sale with around a million km or more and zero repairs just maintenance
Cars are overall designed to last as long as possible, planned obsolescence is just so those who are unable to maintain a car can find the reason for it falling apart.
You are probably the most dedicated and passionate car enthusiast on UA-cam. I've never seen such devoted documentation on vehicles other than this channel. Don't ever lose that. I wish more people out there would treat their cars with the love and respect that you do. That's why I always enjoy any of your videos no matter what it is. And the fact that you devote your time to reply to all of your commenters is really wholesome of you considering many other hotshot UA-camrs/vloggers don't even bother to respond back to their audience, not even a simple heart from the author. Thank you so much for being an honest and caregiving UA-camr. BTW, that ILX still holds up on the styling department. Maybe not so much the interior but the exterior styling still holds up today. It sucks 2022 will be the last model year of the ILX but at least it'll be replaced by the wonderful Integra name.
For sure, and thanks for always staying engaged with latest vids and sharing your feedback! I definitely enjoy interacting with people on here so it's good to be connected. Thanks for commenting CJ
I recall you blogging about this car 10 years ago and thought what a cool way for Acura to showcase a car. Fast forward to today and it's even cooler that you've held on to it for 10yrs. What a great car and equally great story.
I remember that too. Also I remener when Acura congratulated him with a red carpet (might br wrong) due to his Legend, and remember when Ikeda showed him the Ilx.
So I came across this video looking for long-term ILX owner reviews, as I'm interested in potentially getting a 2019-2022 model. I've owned two Hondas in the past and enjoyed driving a friend's 2013 ILX years ago, so I've long appreciated the ILX. This video and your detailed overview of the maintenance and wear of the car are a huge, huge help for potential buyers. I'm happy to see this has been so reliable for you and I hope it lasts for much longer! 💯
I have a 2009 Acura TL SH-AWD. I bought it about 5 years ago and it currently has 243,000 miles . It has been very reliable the only thing I have done besides regular maintenance such as oil change is replacing the brakes and blend door actuators. It still drives like a charm!
Crazy to think about how fast ten years goes by. I wish they all would’ve looked like this. The earlier ILX’s were so boring looking. Also cool to see Greensburg Indiana on there! My 2008 TL Type S has 208,550 miles and my 2011 RDX has 147,800. I’ve absolutely loved my Acuras.
I just bought the last version of this car in Aspec, white exterior and red interior! Absolutely love it, coming from an accord 2013, Honda/Acura are and will always be my go to cars!!
Wow, I totally forgot about your channel and your love for 90's Acura's. Congrats on your 10 years ownership. I still have my 93 Integra GSR in classic Teal Green. has 250,000 kms and looks like a garage queen. re-subbed.
Thank you very cool, I bought my 2013 in 2017 and your story was the one that inspired me to get one. I have 114K miles on it and still runs as good as when I got it with 38K. Thanks again, on my way to Scottsdale today from California.
I recently found a 2014 ILX Dynamic (with navigation) in my area for a pretty decent price and only 66,000km (41,000mi) on it. I came across your video while doing some research on it and it helped me decide to pick it up. Almost two months later and I'm loving it, so thank you! Hope yours continues to treat you well for another 238,093 miles!
I have the basic ILX 2014, same color with 69,000 miles was searching online for body kits happen to come across your video. You showed your booklet with the exterior parts it helped me to know the parts I need. Thank you! Amazing video.
This is a truly special automobile. I have the new 2023 Integra which replaced this, similar power to weight level and it has a manual. I'm treating mine just like yours, I have a folder with all the documentation regarding the car and I'm meticulously caring for it. I hope to keep mine for 10 years and take good care of it as well. Inspiring!
Keeping my 2022 acura ilx such a flawless car it's an everyday car..even if the tlx type s is the best performance...I am more than satisfied and the value...damn good video thanks for doing this and if it weren't for this journey you shared with this car..we wouldn't understand and appreciate this brand and model...well done man so excited..
Super happy to see its doing well, after seeing your videos a few years back I decided to keep mine seeing it was so reliable to you. I've had similar experience, Im @ 175k and think I need a clutch but I think I'll go ahead and do it keep it we'll see who keeps it longer lol thanks for the videos appreciate them! -Byron.
when i was young i started watching this series when you first spec’d it out. I now own a 2015 Ilx 6 speed dynamic! thanks for showing me how great these cars are
I believe we first met at the ILX launch party at some swanky venue in Hollywood so we've known each other for just over 10 years too! Time goes by fast!
Damn 238k in 10 years, this car has definitely stood up reliability wise. So Acura gave it to you I knew had to be something like that as I would have pictured you a Legend owner in a TL type s 6-speed or RL, no disrespect.
I bought my 2015 ILX in 2014. White with tan interior. Honestly one if not the most comfortable cars I’ve had. I actually loved the engine. I got the ground effects package from new as well which was a rare sight. I finally traded the car in due to my growing family but sure miss it. I truly felt it was the Acura Integra of its time rather than an ILX.
The K24, if well maintained, is virtually bombproof. I have a 2010 TSX Tech Package 2.4L/5AT that I bought in 2012 as a low mileage trade. It had 17k on the clock then, a decade later she's showing 232k+ and not a single warning light shining on the dash. It's been a FANTASTIC car. 😊 I recently added a 2022 TLX Type S to the driveway and the TSX will be passed down to my daughter who will be old enough to drive in a few months. Love that your experience in the ILX has been similar. Great vid. 😊
i have an 03 Acura Tl. type S with a144k and it amazes me how well built they are not just the VTech but the interior quality is really nice and durable.. nooooow the transmissions on the other hand are less than desirable lol especially 2nd gen TLs but fortunately ive had no issues just a tune up and oil changes, regular maintenance.. love your passion for acuras and i love how dedicated you are to keeping detailed record of your vehicle maintenance.. i really feel like if more ppl would learn and develop this skill and discipline, they could prevent so many headaches down the road..
Still looks amazing (and looks like a garage kept car). Even though my Accord is almost 10 years older than this (mine has been mostly garage kept), just sitting out in the sun when I'm at work takes a toll. Congrats on 10 great years with it!
Way cool to see this car back in my feed. I had just gotten my 2015 ILX 2.4 6MT when I found your channel. I only ended up keeping it for like 6 months because I’m 6’2 and it just wasn’t a good fit lol. Love your passion for your car man.
@@TysonHugie Ended up getting a 2013 Toyota Avalon. I prioritize reliability and comfort in that order and the Avalon seemed like the best combo of the two my money could buy at then time (Considering I don’t do car payments). It’s been a great car thus far!
Love the recap Tyson! I also have a 2013 Acura ILX 2.4 and have loved how it drives and the reliability! I've had the normal oil changes, brake replacements, tires and batteries. The only major issue so far is a recent alternator repair at 105,000 mile and I purchased it in 2015 with 20,000 miles so it's be great!
I have a 2013 2.4L as well that was #91 … cool stuff man . Mine has 115k miles stage 3 clutch, bc coilovers, progress 25 mm rear sway bar, Godspeed rear camber arms and truhart rear brace. Having the rear end so tight and the aggressive clutch makes cutting up lots and lots of fun.
Hi Tyson, your ILX looks brand new car still. I’m glad that you always take care with your ILX for doing car wash, keep clean inside, and car service. It’s almost ready to hit 240,000 miles soon. Great video. 👍🏼
Thanks for the video. I am about to take possession of a 2013 ILX 2.0 tech pkg w/52000 miles. Not exacly the same, but did give me a good idea about the basics.
I picked up a 2022 Acura ILX ASPEC (in Platinum White Pearl and the red interior) with the technology package and I am loving it. I had a 2013 ilx back in 2015, but someone hit it and the car was totalled. Had a truck after that. Anyhoo, I chose the ILX over the integra because not of fan of turbos nor CVT. Plan to keep it for many years since I think it is the last good engine and transmission configuration Honda made.
Congratulations on having it for ten years. I own the same car in the same color. I have 155k on it now. Glad to see that it has held up over all these years and miles. It's pretty impressive that your still on your stock clutch lol. Hope my last that long too. I only had to do a alternator and battery since I've had the car. 3 years and 50,000 miles. I would love to get that same body kit you have on mine. It looks really nice.
You obviously take really good care of your cars this thing looks super clean I do the same thing with my TLX type s, I know you sold yours but I'm pretty sure I'll get those same miles, gotta love that Acura quality
you rock for keeping the car so clean I want one now of course 6speed so 2015 or older but if i can't find one I will just go for the dct way better than the newer CVTs IMO
What a beauty Example man I never see one like this on the street! I was so close to buy a ILX before I find my Si 2013 Sedan. Actually bought it on NJ and drive to FL 1000K miles...no issues K24Z7* laast!
About 248,000 miles, hasn't been driven that much lately. Just had about $2.5k worth of work done on a cooling system overhaul, nothing urgent, just preventive. Still running and driving like a champ.
I honestly don't think there is an ILX that is cleaner and flawless as this one~~ I don't see any of the 6-speed ILX models, which is a shame, but this is proof that Honda and Acura cars are truly bulletproof
I have a 2014 Acura ilx. Has 66k miles on it atm. Previous owner actually totaled the car so it has a salvage title. its a great car. I hope mine will last to over 200k.
Ah, geez. I can’t believe it’s been a decade since you got the ILX - congrats on what seems like a fantastic ownership experience. The Alaska road trip was one of my favorite stories that you featured in your blog. Hmm… seems like Honda made some reliable products during 2012-2013, am I right? 😉
@@TysonHugie Thanks Tyson! Quick question. Do you put premium gas in your ILX? The TSX says premium is recommended in the manual, but the gas door says premium only.
Wow, couldn’t believe it’s K24 in a moment you’ve started it, it sounds so refined. Thought it’s J séries honestly. Now I know I have to upgrade my weak K20A6 to some K24.
Did you change the shocks in this? And if you did. Do you buy OEM?? I have 2013 ILX 2.0 Tech with only 50k miles Changing tires helped the ride but the ride is fairly stiff don’t know if changing shocks in 10 year old car will help comport ??
Hello Tyson, nice video! I have the 2.0L automatic and I was wondering if there is a way to put the speedometer in red like you. I really like the look. Thank you
Thanks for the great video Tyson. I've been a Toyota/Mazda guy my whole life. Planning to switch to the new 2022 TLX. Do you think that new TLX powertrain will last as much as yours did? And have you ever had any interior plastic rattles/creaks/buzzings with your ILX?
It seems like the TLX engine should be equally reliable, although the transmission is a completely different setup than what I have. I don't really notice any crazy interior noises. I remember back in the day some ILX owners complained about a suspension noise in the rear.
I loved the recap of this amazing car. The story is just awesome. I have a question for you. Have you ever been offered employment at Acura? If so, why did you decline? If not, would that be something you could foresee doing in the future?
I like to keep my hobby (obsession) and my career separate, although admittedly this automotive stuff pays a few bills here and there (UA-cam is one example). Also, I have no wish to relocate to California where most Acura corporate functions are based. Thanks for tuning in, Rick 😎.
I think I'm gonna try and find one of these with the 2.4 Manual instead of paying over $30k for the new Civic hatch which are amazing also. Congrats on the high mileage....car looks timeless.....I have 232k miles on my 2010 Civic lx coupe i bought from an old lady for $7k with 50k miles.....All hwy
Love this video. So I am looking to buy exact same ilx with same colour and wheels. Except it's a automatic transmission. The has like 70k miles. What should I look for and while test drive. Please guide me. And you recommend buying an ilx.?Is parts radially available if things get broken. Thankz
Well the automatic ILX has a different engine and transmission from mine, so it’s probably a different list of things to look out for. But overall just check for maintenance history and you should be good! 70k miles is nothing on these.
@@TysonHugie I had mine 6 months the market went up so I sold it to Carmax to more than I paid for it, I kinda regret it bc I got a first gen Pilot after and I just lost my transmission a week ago
Damn i had my 2009 Acura TL SHAWD for 10 years and it only has 189700 miles i might hit 200,000 miles before the year is over, i still have to make a trip to Michigan, Cincinnati Ohio and Kentucky.
did you having issues with low idle and slow acceleration, I already changed maf, and air filter still same problem :( also ac goes hot when I start to drive hard. 2016 ILX

She’s a beaut, Tyson! ❤️❤️ you’re a good caretaker.
Hey, thanks Austin!
Oh shoot another Ty car!!!😏 I am so glad it is yours that gives me faith that my car will last in AZ.
Awesome!
Love seeing the car rack up miles. I own a 07 Acura RDX it is at 199,700 roughly can’t wait for it to hit 200k
Awesome, keep on rolling!
@@TysonHugie if only I can show you my car
love those door entry plates and spoiler.
Definitely, glad I got those upgrades!
I “think” my Honda Crosstour has the same motor. Another awesome video, Tyson! 😎
You are correct! Thanks Brodie!
you rock for keeping the car so clean I want one now of course 6speed so 2015 or older but if i can't find one I will just go for the dct way better than the newer CVTs IMO
I think you should be able to find a 6-speed nationwide
NGL I still love this little car
Me too!
I love my 2016 ILX with 8-speed dual clutch transmission.
Great ride
What a beauty Example man I never see one like this on the street! I was so close to buy a ILX before I find my Si 2013 Sedan. Actually bought it on NJ and drive to FL 1000K miles...no issues K24Z7* laast!
That's awesome, your Si will last forever
I have an ILX 2015 6 2.4l 6 MT. driving with a manual makes driving fun again.
Agreed!
Wow ! Thanks for making this video . I’m looking for a used 2016 ilx . I hear they get great mpg .
Yes pretty solid mpg!
@@TysonHugie so you would recommend buying this car ? I’m looking for a used one . I drive 120 miles round trip everyday .
Can we get an update on this car?
About 248,000 miles, hasn't been driven that much lately. Just had about $2.5k worth of work done on a cooling system overhaul, nothing urgent, just preventive. Still running and driving like a champ.
I honestly don't think there is an ILX that is cleaner and flawless as this one~~ I don't see any of the 6-speed ILX models, which is a shame, but this is proof that Honda and Acura cars are truly bulletproof
Thanks! It needs some touch ups here and there but it has survived well!
I have a 2014 Acura ilx. Has 66k miles on it atm. Previous owner actually totaled the car so it has a salvage title. its a great car. I hope mine will last to over 200k.
I bet you will get to way over 200k
Still a beauty.
Thanks Sanjay!
Ah, geez. I can’t believe it’s been a decade since you got the ILX - congrats on what seems like a fantastic ownership experience. The Alaska road trip was one of my favorite stories that you featured in your blog. Hmm… seems like Honda made some reliable products during 2012-2013, am I right? 😉
Couldn't agree more!
Wow what a cool cool car. Congrats and heck this thing is new! Lol
Haha it's definitely used but I'm trying to keep it going!
Congrats! My 06 TSX will hit 250,000 miles soon.
Congrats Ron!
@@TysonHugie Thanks Tyson! Quick question. Do you put premium gas in your ILX? The TSX says premium is recommended in the manual, but the gas door says premium only.
Can't believe it's been 10 years. Remember when you picked it up.
Crazy for sure. Makes me wonder if I'll still have it in 10 more!
Great video it’s definitely feeding my new obsession with this car
Awesome
Wow, couldn’t believe it’s K24 in a moment you’ve started it, it sounds so refined. Thought it’s J séries honestly. Now I know I have to upgrade my weak K20A6 to some K24.
Heck yes, dooo it.
K20A6 is also a very good engine my dad has one with over 400k km
@@Shabbe02 mine is also almost there. The only downside is that it lacks of torque in Accord/TSX(CL) body.
Great! Surprised that your maintenance records don't seem to show (unless I missed it) that your spark plugs have ever been replaced.
Now I'll have to go check that!
It's holding up great! If you put some vinyl film (like xpel) over the fog lights, you'll never have a cracked lens again.
Unfortunately I did that, and they still cracked!
@@TysonHugie Crazy. I wonder how thick the film was. You can get thicker film usually.
Did you change the shocks in this? And if you did. Do you buy OEM??
I have 2013 ILX 2.0 Tech with only 50k miles Changing tires helped the ride but the ride is fairly stiff don’t know if changing shocks in 10 year old car will help comport ??
I haven't done any suspension work on mine
@@TysonHugie you live in AZ so not surprised. That’s why they have these huge plane grave yard over there that they can use for parts. Im in NE
Hello Tyson, nice video! I have the 2.0L automatic and I was wondering if there is a way to put the speedometer in red like you. I really like the look. Thank you
No the red was only for the manual transmission, I don’t think you can swap it
I love Acura all my cars was mostly Acura for years I'm get a 2017 iLX
Awesome
I miss my 2017 ilx!
It's been such a great car
Dope vid
Thanks
Great looking ILX! I was curious were you got the body kit? Been looking everywhere for this color!
It was an add-on at the dealer. Keep in mind that was 10 years ago
That's awesome, and I think you'll like the ILX 2.4
@@TysonHugie I think so...6sp manuals are hard to find..lol
I’m the same way I may not have owned my 07 rdx new but I went ahead and sourced the exterior body accessories
That definitely sets it apart
Love this video. So I am looking to buy exact same ilx with same colour and wheels. Except it's a automatic transmission. The has like 70k miles. What should I look for and while test drive. Please guide me. And you recommend buying an ilx.?Is parts radially available if things get broken. Thankz
Well the automatic ILX has a different engine and transmission from mine, so it’s probably a different list of things to look out for. But overall just check for maintenance history and you should be good! 70k miles is nothing on these.
I miss my 2013 ILX Tech
They are great cars
@@TysonHugie I had mine 6 months the market went up so I sold it to Carmax to more than I paid for it, I kinda regret it bc I got a first gen Pilot after and I just lost my transmission a week ago
Hopefully you can reach 250k this year :-)
It will happen sometime soon!
Nice car. I wish I can afford one
Maybe someday!
I have the 2018 ilx premium with 24xxx and it looks exactly the same!
Awesome! Great choice
I'm looking at this same exact car but red, It looks so niiiice. I really hope there's some tasteful mods I can put on it
That’s awesome!
I’m at 209k with my TSX 04 running Acuras are awesome feels like new btw has the clutch been replaced on this ILX?
No, it's the original clutch
i got cracked foglight lens covers and i think i'll order new ones and put a yellow tint film thing on them maybe that'll help i hope
Hopefully
I really want one, especially with the manual
They are great cars
Have you had to do any suspension work?
No, none
@@TysonHugie that's amazing! Will you be picking up the new Integra 6MT?
Hey, where'd you get that body kit that goes attached to the front and rear bumpers?
Dealer
Nice…here I am because I’m thinking about buying a 2017 ILX. Hopefully I can find one with low miles and good maintenance. 😅
Awesome, good luck and keep me posted!
Damn i had my 2009 Acura TL SHAWD for 10 years and it only has 189700 miles i might hit 200,000 miles before the year is over, i still have to make a trip to Michigan, Cincinnati Ohio and Kentucky.
Good luck with the upcoming milestone!
@@TysonHugie
Thanks 😊
did you having issues with low idle and slow acceleration, I already changed maf, and air filter still same problem :( also ac goes hot when I start to drive hard. 2016 ILX
I haven’t had these things happen
Just got one... how does one clean the interior trim pieces??? The one above the glove compartment will not come clean for some reason
That’s weird, I just use stuff like diluted Simple Green and Meguiar’s natural shine protectant.
@@TysonHugie does it actually clean the marks off of it? I tried maguire they're my go to...
