This is how you interview Kevin Smith, give him time, way better than him trying to cram everything he just said into 5-10 minutes on a talk show...
and don't give him a microphone...
well if you give him 5-10 minutes you can be lucky if you get to ask A question, you might not even get beyond the greeting
When you interview Kevin Smith, he will just as much interview you, you don't get anything out of Kevin in less than 25 minutes because he'll go on three tangents and then start asking you questions
His appearances on the joe Rogan podcast are my favourite ever. The dude is just so genuine and so good to listen too.

@Benjamin Farrington As a journalist, that shit is super fucking hard to not do. I have forced myself not to because it absolutely ruins phone interviews. That said, definitely more acceptable in a long form "Conversation" interview.

It’s a listening technique to show that you’re active listening. It’s a hard habit to break.
Typically, that's a cue from the interviewer. They are supposed to use it to warn the guest they are about to ask another question or make a comment.
The obnoxious part here is that he is just doing the "mhm" constantly, and Kevin **really** loves talking.
I get the need to be an 'active listener' but why are their voices coming from two different earphones. Weird!
How funny that the guy who makes these crazy, awesome movies with more cussing, potty humor and all that.....turns out to be the most caring, sensitive person in Hollywood. I think you're great Kevin. I have loved you long time....lol

I always love watching Jay with my kids at the comic store. I told my kids what a good actor he is. Bad boy in the movies....... carting my baby in his arms around the store, folding my carriage putting it in my car. So happy for REBOOT!!!!

Mike Conner clerks 3 would be amazing. I think clerks 2 was my introduction to jay and silent bob and Kevin smith as a whole. Possssibly I saw jay and bob strike back first can’t remember.
He's been working on Clerks 3 & Mall Rats 2 scripts while he's been under quarantine. They're coming, & he's going to release them like he did Reboot.

He does have it in him to do a good mallrats reboot, just as long as it's non political and he just sticks to the funny.
I'm kind of glad he remembers Big Fish. I really liked that movie ...sometimes I feel like the only one.
Now Kevin's hitting me with the feels. Lost my dad suddenly 14 years ago. We connected the same way. Even ruined the secret of how superman flies at a young age lol. But we mainly connected with horror.

I've heard him tell the same stories in so many other interviews almost the same way . Every time he tells them again it seems like he's telling them for the first time. He's an amazing story teller. Love this guy.

I've been a fan of his movies since my age was single digits and now here I am at 33 still a fan, and not for nostalgia reasons, just because I actually love his movies.. it's only in the last few months I found his UA-cam channel and all these interviews where I started to realise he's actually a truly great man. I honestly can't say enough positive things about him, and I don't fanboy over celebs, and I don't usually stick to one thing online, but can 100% waste a day watching Kevin Smith videos and not feel it's wasted haha

Seems like Phase is wrong. Typically sound like that when XLR or other balanced connection is flipped wrong.

The stereo field is too wide. They were panned too far left and right. I normally would never pan a vocal setting like this with 2 people left and right unless their voices sounded too similar and never would I pan them that far apart unless there were more people on set.
And yes, Kevin Smith sounded out of phase somehow. Probably bad mic/XLR or room mics out of phase with him? But it really wasn't so bad, I watched the entire thing with headphones, just a little distracting.

@@10100rsn Honestly it really should all be centred. Going left and right in the stereo channel doesn't make sense when the viewer is looking straight on at the speaker. You could maybe shift slightly left or right depending on who's speaking to give it some depth if you really want to but it should still be mostly centred. Panning left or right is only useful for off screen voices and sounds. When you're subjects are right in front of you on screen, keep it centred.
My guess is whoever synced the sound probably doesn't do it very often and just thought that one guy goes left channel and the other guy goes right channel.
I love watching Kevin Smith talk.
To be honest, as much as I loved the movie I only have two complains:
1) They broke the fourth wall a bit too much.
2) No Mark Hamill cameo.
Regardless, it's easily his best movie since Z&M and I hope he can use the momentum moving into Clerks III.

At 19-minutes, Kevin Was Right. While Watching BOTH "Logan" & "Avengers: Endgame" I TOO Felt As Though My Dad Was There With Me, BUT ALSO That He Was Saying Goodbye. A MUCH-NEEDED Closure If You Will. Since We NEVER Had A Funeral For Him. It's MY Belief That: "Jay & Silent Bob: Reboot" is A Magnum Opus For The ViewAskewVerse Which Sets the Stage for Keanu's Closing Act; "Bill & Ted; Face the Music". I'll End on THIS NOTE: I Too Believe That "Clerks II" WAS The Best ViewAskew Film, With "Mallrats" Being A VERY Close 2nd.

Don't want to undermine the point, obviously the films have a tonne of value to those that like them and that's totally fine, but even as Kevin is describing these films, it really kind of makes it sound more like a ride, not less. Obviously, that's fine, it sounds like a great ride for the folks that like it, yeah, that doesn't make Scorsese wrong, it just means you like the ride.
