Genesis is still quite an unknown brand so in terms of street cred it goes under the radar, but for what you can get for the money it’s a strong proposition. Love how dynamic your cohost pickles are!! It’s what I love about this channel their honest opinions!
Hi Ben & girls. Hope your all doing good. That is one beautiful Genesis. I love the color inside and out. The only thing I don't like is lack of any isofix in the very last row and the front passenger seat. I also can't believe it's only a 2.5 4 cylinder turbo for as big as that SUV is. I loved the video. Stay safe and take care.
I bet if you tried the passenger rear door to get in the back the access will be better. Front seat will move forward when you move the centre seat to get in the rear providing more space
Really tasty Looking SUV aesthetically beautiful outside and inside.. Honestly this should have a V6 or even a V8 lump . That's what I would want and I think the market its aiming at would want too . Thanks for sharing fella
It is. Owned by father & son… Kia and Hyundai, it is their luxury arm. I have an Infiniti FX37 and it’s a Nissan 370z…. But so much better. These Genesis are similar to Infiniti, just brilliant but will be generally be missed over here. Drive an Infiniti please Ben. I got mine for 5k. It’s epic… better than my previous Cayenne turbo, similar to the Genesis but cheap as chips. (Apart from the tax!)
I have owned a 2019 G80 And a 2014 BMW 540Xi And the Genesis was a far better owner experience! More reliable and that open pore wood trim made it feel like old school luxury! Would love to find another 5.0L G80/hyundai Genesis
They did tweak the steering wheel and the whole interior with some exterior stuff too like grille and headlights for the ‘25MY refresh, at least for Korea and US Markets.
DBX? More like a Bentayga inspired design. As soon as it was in the UK I went to their Westfield showroom to see it. And booked a test drive it took a few months before they called to arrange a test drive, a personal assistant was assigned to me, he drove the car to my house really VIP experience. Bought it and had it for almost 3 years lovely car and top customer service! Only reason I sold it was because the real Bentayga has gone down drastically in price. Now that I had the Bentayga for a few months, the difference is day and night, but the GV80 is still a good car for what it is!
I do love the look to these, plus when talking about safety, this car is the only reason tiger Woods is still alive, kept him alive in a really bad crash
@ Our other car is a seat Leon fr, had it 5 years. 65 reg 2.0 diesel 20 quid road tax 560 miles on a tank of fuel. Can’t go wrong with Seat in my personal experience 👍 Brilliant video on the genesis btw 📹👍
Great video again Ben, loved the review, disagreed almost entirely and think it’s a stupid car 🙃. As a father of 2 myself, I did instinctively go to turn around and wipe the snot after one of your php’s sneezed in the back 😂
Ben you might not like SUVs but they’re very practical for family needs. This genesis seems great to me. Sorry buddy. But it’s a good desirable SUV suitable for family needs. 👌
@dadcarsshould be a straight six or a V6 for a car that size. Kia / Hyundai have a fantastic 3.6 V6 in their stable.. my Kia Carnival people carrier back in New Zealand has it and it’s smooth and perfect for hauling artiste of kids, I have 4 kids of teenage and near teenage age. My oldest is bigger than I am already.
I've finished watching this. Had to spread it over 2 days. I honestly thought Genesis was a flash Nissan! I didn't realize Hyundai had a Lexus type division. Tis a neat looking wagon! Farny you singing, yes, a Phil Collins song not Genesis one. It's a wonder someone won't freak about you attempting that song! You should have got your darling daughters to join in. Though likely they don't know it. Too young. Neat watch chap Best from me way down under in Middle Earth!
@dadcars It really is phenomenal. Ok, so don’t take many kids in it but do a lot of miles and it’s just like stepping into a cocoon. I actually made a video for Genesis which is on their Instagram channels. Such a great car!
2:48 Watching the pickles putting their feet everywhere and making shoe marks on the car leather takes me back to when I was viewing a BMW with my then 2-year-old daughter. It had cream leather and my daughter was clambering all over only for the seller to say could I please not have my daughter climb all over the car. Suffice to say I didn't buy the car😅
About to buy an X6 but would much rather have the Genesis GV80 Coupe, but sadly they havnt released it in the UK its very very annoying... Also cant find a GV80 with the new interior....
Hello Ben, A cool looking car, looks a lot like the Bentley, but who will spend that money on a posh Hyundai, I’m not sure what the residual value would be like in 3-4 years time, Marcus.
No V8 so I'm out. Nice car otherwise though. The third row accessibility is a bit of a joke; doesn't the seat base roll forwards??! Even my old Ford Galaxy had that LOL
To me... It's a budget Benteyga, not a budget DBX. They copied everything. Every time someone in one parks near my Benteyga or pulls up next to us they say that's what they really wanted... and when my son sees one he like, Daddy, another Bentley and I have to have the talk with him , 😂
These have been out for years in North America. I wouldn’t go anywhere near this as a long term vehicle. 4 cylinders in a massive vehicle. Hyundai don’t have great reliability in recent times and having driven other Hyundai 4 cylinder SUVs recently, they sounded like a bag of nails. Definitely style over substance. As a lease that you’re going to give back in a couple of years, it’s fine.
Lol this is a baby Bentley bentayga not a baby DBX, i csn understand the comparison but considering the deigner of the bentayga heloed make this car, I'd more so lean towards the latter here
Don't get this it's fine being a petrol head but let's be frank once a family comes along, what's the point, first you live in a major urban area so i suspect you rarely get above 30, then open road you can't go above 70. So all this is a little pointless, in trying to get a high performance on a budget. It simply makes no sense. You would do all your family a favour and buy a decent transporter caravelle. And still go about in luxury with shed loads of space.
"what's the point". The point is that you can still have a hobby and own something which you enjoy driving. It isn't about performance, it's about having something different which makes you feel special.
I still remember when Kia and Hyundai were the butt of jokes on Top Gear… both brands have come a VERY long way since those days. Maybe Jaguar should be employing the people who helped them reinvent themselves as brands…
Unfortunately , Genesis having been big in USA for a good few years , have a very ugly truth , bought new , like any Land Rover product , very nice and not your problem , however , even though the Genesis is more reliable than the Land Rover , they are not likely to be around for long as the motors fail catastrophically and gearboxes also , they are designed in with a lot of built in obselessence to sell more cars . It is actually so bad on the Korean cars that , if a motor goes even at the end of the warrantee period , there are no engines available at the dealer network nor are there any core units available to rebuild , nor are anything outside of basic service parts available , hence they all end up in the crusher with an engine failure
All that glitters isn't gold and that turbo charged 2.5 litre 4 cylinder engine will shorten the life of the engine and how many you tube channels out advise not buying Hyundai's Kias and Geniuses
It’s not about the performance of a 4 cylinder compared to a 6 cylinder, it’s about the delivery and refinement. I wouldn’t want any car with a 4 cylinder engine.
Yeah like I said in the video, feels like you’re straining the engine when pressing on. It’s a big vehicle for a 4 pot but when buying new and moving on I guess it doesn’t matter
Your mate Jayemm told me off for criticising you, oops I apologise, but you have a great channel, but 2 things, your upward infection and the use of pickles is rather annoying.. Just saying..

Thanks Albert 🙌 yeah they were hilarious on this day, just constantly laughing and having fun :)
I'll admit I did not much at all about Genesis before watching; great video as always Ben...cant believe the issue around lack of isofix!
Ah that’s cool :)
Phil Collins
Patients of a saint 😂. Thank you all for the invaluable insights. Another great video ❤
Thanks for watching :)
What a great review very muvj a real life review and great points made especially for us with a large family. Top work Ben 😊👍
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it :)

Hey Frank glad you enjoyed it 😊
That actually looks good for an SUV Ben. 1000 subs a week mate, keep that up and you’ll soon be at 100000
Thanks man :)
I bet if you tried the passenger rear door to get in the back the access will be better. Front seat will move forward when you move the centre seat to get in the rear providing more space
Yeah that’ll be true actually, the downsides of the drivers seat automatically moving back for family practicality
Really tasty Looking SUV aesthetically beautiful outside and inside..
Honestly this should have a V6 or even a V8 lump .
That's what I would want and I think the market its aiming at would want too .
Thanks for sharing fella
Thanks for watching 🙌
V6 twin turbo in most other markets.. Kia Stinger engine..
Yes you get a V6 in most other markets
So… is this to Hyundai, what Infiniti is to Nissan and Lexus to Toyota?
Yes
👍😊
Exactly... or Audi to Volkswagen
It is. Owned by father & son… Kia and Hyundai, it is their luxury arm. I have an Infiniti FX37 and it’s a Nissan 370z…. But so much better. Love to see the viewership numbers go up on all your videos! Hoping you get to trade up soon and take your family on trips!
Thanks man! 🙌 as the channel grows so will the cars and adventures 😊 I’ll just keep putting everything back into the channel
Nice subtle Shedfest 25 advert in there mate!😂😂. The Pickles are utter stars mate lol 😂 wish my two were so good in cars lol.
I can’t wait for Goodwood!!! 🙌🙌🙌 Dadcars Family Zone is going to be epic!
@ try to get there this year!🤣✌️. Hope you got a coupe sorted to review…if not I’ll drive one of mine to Shedfest for you lol

I thought it was a Bentley at first and thought why can’t you afford an Aston when you got a Bentley parked there 😂😂
😂👏👏
Try the Genesis G70 its an amazing car, based on the Kia Stinger. Unfortunately in the UK we don't get the 3.3 twin turbo variant
I’d love to
Have you done a video on a seat Tarraco? Me and my family have had one for a year and half (one 3 year old and 1 year old twins) and we love it
No I haven’t buy my first car was a Seat Ibiza 😊
@ Our other car is a seat Leon fr, had it 5 years. 65 reg 2.0 diesel 20 quid road tax 560 miles on a tank of fuel. Can’t go wrong with Seat in my personal experience 👍 Brilliant video on the genesis btw 📹👍
Granted I only have 2 kids but I’ve just purchased a 4.2 V8 diesel cayenne. Incredible
I love the attention the girls are paying to the outside features tour 😂😂😂😂 delightful
Would be interested in seeing a review on the new Hyundai Santa Fe, if you could get one? Great review of this one by the way 👏
If they offered me one I’d do it :)
The AutoAlexCars podcast! Nice :-)
😎

Ben you might not like SUVs but they’re very practical for family needs. This genesis seems great to me. Sorry buddy. But it’s a good desirable SUV suitable for family needs. 👌
I was pretty damn complementary of it wasn’t I? 🤷♂️
@ you did. I think you liked it too for a SUV 😉

@dadcars really enjoying your work Sir Dadcar, long may you rein
I think I prefer Genesis the band over Genesis the brand.
🙈… I didn’t get the brand before I had this but honestly the interior is so nice 👌😎
2:48 Watching the pickles putting their feet everywhere and making shoe marks on the car leather takes me back to when I was viewing a BMW with my then 2-year-old daughter. I always make sure they are respectful but shoes on the seat backs is inevitable :)
A very reasonable request.
@mynameIan Indeed, IF she was making marks , which she wasn't, and IF I was asked politely, which I wasn't.
About to buy an X6 but would much rather have the Genesis GV80 Coupe, but sadly they havnt released it in the UK its very very annoying... Also cant find a GV80 with the new interior....

Man,your daughters are so sweat❤❤❤
Ben, gv80 looks good but resale $ is unknown
Shame the packaging isn’t better, a big car but very cramped. Lovely looking interior though.
You need to have a go on a carlton...
I’d love to 🙌
I though this was a lightly refreshed Bentayga for a few seconds.
No V8 so I'm out. Nice car otherwise though. The third row accessibility is a bit of a joke; doesn't the seat base roll forwards??! Even my old Ford Galaxy had that LOL
With +3 kids just go for a Mercedes V250/V300.
Funny you should say that, you’ll enjoy a video I have coming very soon 😎

I think it looks more Skoda than Aston on the outside.
I struggle to see the difference between Skoda, VW, Audi and Lambo SUVs to be fair. If you squint they all look the same
Compare the prices from 2023 2022 for a new the same car youll see how cheap Aston is
One word, depreciation?
These have been out for years in North America. I wouldn’t go anywhere near this as a long term vehicle. 4 cylinders in a massive vehicle.
Hyundai don’t have great reliability in recent times and having driven other Hyundai 4 cylinder SUVs recently, they sounded like a bag of nails.
Definitely style over substance.
As a lease that you’re going to give back in a couple of years, it’s fine.
£72k , damn! ,even £760 pm, far from cheap.
Nope! New car prices are mad these days
Lol this is a baby Bentley bentayga not a baby DBX, i csn understand the comparison but considering the deigner of the bentayga heloed make this car, I'd more so lean towards the latter here
The Genesis and Kia SUVs are great value propositions but the fit and finish are not there. I like the idea of them but in practice? Pass…
Oh dear, the Aston customer expects more cylinders than 4
My Aston had 12 😍
From first impression it looks like a knockoff Bentley Bentayga 👀
That's what I thought it was 😂. We don't get Geniusis in Ireland .
Don't get this it's fine being a petrol head but let's be frank once a family comes along, what's the point, first you live in a major urban area so i suspect you rarely get above 30, then open road you can't go above 70. I’ve got a video coming out soon with a special MPV where I talk about the reasons families buy SUVs these days 👍
"what's the point". The point is that you can still have a hobby and own something which you enjoy driving. It isn't about performance, it's about having something different which makes you feel special.
Well I would say what's the point in £60k on a van lol
60 grand on a van is a seriously niche market
😊
Back on top 👏
Not because I own one and am bias 😅 but the RR SVR is perfect trust me 😂
More L405 videos coming soon :)
@dadcarsGood news 🎉🎉
You wouldn't place a baby seat in the rear of this car as they're too far away when they require attention.
High back booster seats for children up to 12 years old are isofix these days
At least it's not electric 😂
Hold off a couple of years and you’ll pick one up for £20k….
Get one of those cheap 2016 Bentaygas!
Still way above my budget 😅 need them to come way down
I d prefer a Q7 tbh
3 isofix in the second row 👍
I still remember when Kia and Hyundai were the butt of jokes on Top Gear… both brands have come a VERY long way since those days.
Maybe Jaguar should be employing the people who helped them reinvent themselves as brands…
No one’s going to buy at that price point.
That’s a lot of money, finance or not!
All new cars are insanely expensive now 🥲
That's no Aston, just dreaming
Front looks awfull
Heavy Depreciation?
Maintenance ?
Parts?
But unique is cool
Won’t be any maintenance or parts on a new one. Has a 5 year warranty but depreciation for sure
@dadcarsdepreciation makes this a potential great buy for someone in three years.
The problem with lookie-likey badges is that it makes it seem like a chineese knockie-offie
South Korea when it comes to cars is cooler than China IMO
it just looks so bland.
99% or SUVs do 🤷♂️
Sorry but it's just plain ugly in my eye and looks nothing like an Aston
Unfortunately , Genesis having been big in USA for a good few years , have a very ugly truth , bought new , like any Land Rover product , very nice and not your problem , however , even though the Genesis is more reliable than the Land Rover , they are not likely to be around for long as the motors fail catastrophically and gearboxes also , they are designed in with a lot of built in obselessence to sell more cars . a REASNABLE MINIVAN
Come on!!!
I thought I did a pretty comprehensive job of highlighting the practicality failings of it no? 🤷♂️

I’d get a second hand Range Rover .
I did 🤷♂️
Yep and a good choice my friend a lot of car you got for that money now days
I think they’re more or less broke, like their mothership Nissan
I think most brands are struggling in this mad time we live in…
I think, the parent company is Hyundai, and from what I can see, they seem to be doing quite well.
