Hey Bobby ang. Greetings from Singapore. What a small world u appear in this comment section. Looking seriously at rapide from a Nissan gtr. But the age of rapide got me thinking of maintenance. 😁🤔
Couldn't agree more. I bought mine four years ago and the whole family fell in love with it to the extent that I am not allowed to replace it. Maintenance has not been expensive, very little has worn out or gone wrong and most of the parts are Ford or Volvo so can be bought for a fraction of the price AM will charge. Can't imagine owning anything but an Aston now. Truly a sentient driving experience and now a member of the family, rather than some soulless German counterpart.
Rapide is amazing, I can’t understand why 4 seaters aren’t more popular in the UK. What a price point for essentially an extended DB9/vanquish. As you say Ben the issue is they break and that can be really frustrating as well as expensive!
Ben, you’ve nailed this video my friend, documenting exactly the way a Rapide should be used. One day you’ll join this very exclusive club when you get the keys to one. I’m very privileged to have been part of the Rapide club a number of years now. It’s a truly brilliant car and is one of the most beautiful cars ever made 👍
Great video as always, I really agree with your premise that the upside that is too often forgotten about "Dad Cars" is the memories made. I remember as a kid my Dad had an immaculate blue 280ZX which he had for two years and he only got to drive it less than 11,000kms because every time we had a family trip we took his work utility because the 280ZX was either too previous for fishing or the backseat was too small for a long trip. So in the end my Dad rarely got to drive his car and sold it in less than two years for a Landcruiser. The difference was though the Landcruiser created memories as we went camping, fishing and family holidays and did a 100,000 plus kms and is he car I remember most fondly of my childhood. Encouraging Dads to make memories with their kids is so important and I love your sentiment and agree with whole heartedly.
Far too occasionally I pull my Vantage out of the garage, obsessively clean it and then drive it somewhere where I’m sure I can park it with very limited chance of a ding. At the same time, a neighbour of mine is dailying a Rapide in all weathers. Does the supermarket and (I think) dump runs plus all sorts of other normal usage. He’s winning. 😅
Love a Rapide, was talking to the guys at Mcgurk’s about the couple they had for sale when my DB9 went for a service. Everybody loves them but no one really bought them, apparently great to drive. This one’s a similar coulour spec to my DB9 too ❤ Oh and that bloody engine, it sounds amazing 😂
Hi Ben and girls. Hope your all doing good. That is one very cool Aston Martin. I love the color of it, especially the color of the leather interior. I also love the analog instrument panel. It's not all confusing looking. I also love that it's a saloon. Take care and stay safe.
I had one for a couple year, amazing on every level! Big 360 child seats fit well, good for adults in the rear providing not too tall or for too long. Practical enough to get big pram, travel cot and weekend bags for the family in. 3rd child meant it had to go. As soon as I can, I will get another one!
Genuinely might be controversial but we bought our Jaguar Xe R-sport to be our family car, and it's always delivered, quick comfortable and can do everything you want and economical we are 4 years in now new tyres and pads and disks but that is it. What puts me off the Aston Martins and Bentley Continental is the running cost and if something does go wrong the cost is so high
Excellent review. Had my S for nearly 4 years, so far not expensive for routine maintenance, but brake parts expensive (rears done, front discs in hand), and coils/plugs next service (done 65,000mi) won't be cheap! Also going to change gearbox oil/filters. But what a car! Road presence +++, performance and handling exceptional with the NA V12 552bhp,,double wishbone suspension all around, hydraulic steering, LSD, 51:49 weight distribution. Handles better than DB9 according to an AMR instructor. Seats more usable for (not too tall) adults than other reviews would have you believe. Seriously under-rated Aston!
Great review, Rapide completely underrated. They go like hell in both 6 & 8 speed ‘S’ guise, especially with primary decat and +50bhp remap, they also feel and handle like a supercar 👍😎 Rapide fact: 300mm longer and 60mm wider than DB9
Other than a aston one 77 a rapide S is the only aston that gets to my inner ' car soul' At 58 and a great grandfather we donr need 4 doors and rear ' seats" I just think is a balanced design with more luggage space or an emergency seat in the back if requird.
Hi Ben, I love your videos! When the Rapid was launched I had a younger family and would have loved one. I have recently bought an XK and created a memory is watching the big smile and laugh out loud moment when my adult son drove it for the first time. Cost more to run than a standard car but worth every single penny!
I would love to have a Rapide or Rapide S one day, just for the practicality of the extra space in the back. Don´t need the seats but I take a bike or two with me quite often, so would be nice to have it inside the car if I have a Aston at one point. In my opinion the most beautiful 4 door ever made. Nice video as usual.
Love my ‘15 S. It does weigh 550 lbs more than the contemporary Vanquish. When my daughter is older, I might buy a Vanquish. Other than tossability, this car checks all the boxes. It never scares and lets you enjoy the sound to the max!
I kinda love your Aston Martin reviews, but.... I'm fearful that more people are going to snap them up as a result and then there will be fewer available for me to choose from!!
Hi Ben, we met at a car Hedonism in Stevenage last year. I brought a long my Rapide. It clearly had an affect on you😂. Anyway I no longer have it as I have moved to Australia now. Good to see your video, you mentioned you were planning to do one on the Rapide.
I hate the Qashqai with a passion! Ugly, boring and the school where I worked had a good 20% of the eyesores in the staff carpark. Lovely car! I've never done so much man maths since I started watching your channel, though with this one I would need to lose a child! 😀Keep doing what you do!
Aston is fine in UK. Rest of the world not s much during to service network. Perfect car for dads might be Alpina B4 S if you want a coupe. Quiet, roomy back and smooth on road trips but akrapovic exhaust will roar when you push it and has top speed of 190mph. But that is just 6 cyl of course.

Nice review Ben. Just had our first daughter. My dream is to do a big europe road trip in something like this with them. What do you recon is the ideal age?

Of there was a top 5 of Astons not to own this would be #1. Aston lost tens of millions making such a short production run car, and the reason it was so short ? There were many better options out there. Not many cars ( apart from other Astons) have depreciated so wildly as this model.

For slightly cheaper dryer Jaguar XJ
did any come with sunroofs ?
Nope. Bit of an oversight for what was a £140k car.
FF OR Rapide S?
FF… but they are double the price of a Rapide S, triple the price of a Rapide 🤷♂️
Of there was a top 5 of Astons not to own this would be #1. Aston lost tens of millions making such a short production run car, and the reason it was so short ? There were many better options out there. Not many cars ( apart from other Astons) have depreciated so wildly as this model.
One day Mr S2000Y you will leave a positive comment… I look forward to that day 🙏
But surely this falls short in the pickle accommodation department? Only kidding! They are tempting aren't they...
It’s true, I won’t be able to get all of them in at the same time but by the time I can afford to get an Aston again I’m likely to have 2 or 3 Dadcars I’d say :)
And a new driveway!!

The Rapide has beh-ah rear room than the 2+2’s. Betterrrr! 😂😂

You're spoiling your kids so if they want a v12 Aston as their first car you only have yourself to blame
😅👏
4:33 - your girls seem as unimpressed as mine, I share your pain...(I should add, mine are 19, south of 40 & north of 50...nothing motoring has ever impressed any of them...)
Looks like a Tesla ? Just me? 😅
Elon said he style his cars on Astons
Now I look at this car and wonder why it was made in the first place. Because, it would have been really expensive, and....useless.
No such thing as an affordable Aston Martin...
