4th Annual Black Art Matters Festival

  • In partnership with the Black Student Union, Amherst College Multicultural Resource Center, and the Arts at Amherst Initiative, the Mead is proud to support the fourth installment of the Black Art Matters Festival. In 2017, Zoe Akoto (Amherst College ‘21) noticed a lack of art by Black students on campus and started the Black Art Matters Festival as an affirmation and celebration of Black student artists and creators in the Five Colleges. This year, the festival took place online via Zoom.
    Participants in this year’s festival are Ashanti Adams ’24 (she/her), Rebecca Awuah’23 (she/her), Lauren Bell ‘22 (she/her), Zora Duncan ‘23 (she/her), Isabelle Geneve ‘23 (she/her) Michael Gibson Jr. ‘21 (he/him) Kendall Greene ’24 (she/they), DeLyna Hadgu ‘21 (she/her), Paul Jackson ’22 (he/him), Sterling Kee ‘23 (he/him), Jonathan Paul ‘22 (he/him), Danielle Reed ‘21 (she/her), Maya Roberts ’23 (she/her), and Abadai Zoboi ’24 (she/her).
