What a mesmerising address. She was someone who tapped into the truths about the human experience.. A sage with immense wisdom.

Brilliant that the college chose Anais Nin as guest speaker. Lucky are those students. Notice she was never reading from notes. It all came from her head and her heart. I was reading her memoirs about this time. Nothing like them.

This speech has inspired a total life redirection and led to my current transformation. 🌹"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom." 🌹 Rest In Paradise Anaïs Nin 💜

This woman was so unbelievably ahead of her time, it's mind blowing! What a privilege it was for these students to have such an amazing woman make a speech at their graduation.

Unfortunately though she was preaching a brand of social and spiritual altruism compatible with the democratic philosophy of the 1960s and 1970s, but now greatly rejected in today's elitist and materialist consumer driven world. In essence, we have gone back in time.

E E what's really amazing is how she was married to 2 men at the same time , one in New York , one in LA , for the last 20 years of her life without them finding out about each other until she was pretty much on her deathbed .
Here she talks about the personal life ... and all these other things which sound wonderful ... but with the deceptions that were needed to create that lifestyle for 20 years shows she was a bit of a hypocrite as much as anybody else .
That alone would make an interesting movie .

funny how she quotes Edgard Varèse at 13:11 saying "the artists are really not ahead of the time the other people are just a little late" lol

To have heard one of the greatest writers in the world speak. One of the last great individuals. Henry Miller is also one. There is nobody in my generation like this - so perhaps I will have to become this person.
