When my eldest was a new born we put him in his Moses basket and strapped that in the back seat. If there happened to be an accident the basket would flip into the back of the seat.😲😵‍💫😱🫣
My older kids had a car seat that we had to take to the local ambulance station
. They would check or install it and give you a certificate that you would give to the
      Hospital on discharge.

You remind me of my father, and I'm going to share your channel with him because of this video. I might be giving him some unwanted publicity here, but he'll get over it.
My dad retired 5 years ago after 35 years with the same department, 19 years of which he was a patrol Sergeant. When I was in high school I used to spend hours with him when he ran radar details. I used to think he was so boring when he didn't pull people over who would flash oncoming drivers (to alert them of his presence). He'd always chuckle and say "im still doing my job, they're getting people to slow down, it just means I don't have to write tickets and cost drivers money they might not have, or paperwork i dont want to do." I just wanted the thrill of a 4.6 crown vic getting up to speed with blue strobelights bouncing off the trees and powerlines lol. I was certain I was going to get into police work. My whole childhood I wanted to be a police officer, and my goal was to work along side my dad before he retired. But as I got older, I had a much clearer understanding of everything that went with it. My father was a great cop, and serving his community was his world. But I also saw the other side of what 35 years of dedicated service brought. Not all wounds are visible.
Now as a 33yo married father of 3, I seriously appreciate this style of 'policing', if you can even call it that. You are serving your community and it's so refreshing to see. I know there are others just like you, and it would be cool if they could document it the way you do. I've been watching your videos for awhile now but this one really hit home as it reminded me of my dad. Thank you for your judgement free interactions and thank you for giving a shit, frankly. I hope you see this.

I agree wholeheartedly with you on the car seat subject. I’m a nurse, and used to work for a level one trauma center. She’s darn lucky you came along and educated her. Her baby could have been seriously injured, or died, if she had been in an accident. I’ve seen the most terrible injuries because a child hasn’t been in a car seat at all, or the car seat was improperly placed, and I’m sure you’ve probably seen that too. She needed that lecture….the lecture is so much better than what could have happened. Good for you for educating her instead of just writing a bunch of tickets.

Dude that was probably one of the best police interactions I have seen. I don’t really care if what she’s saying is true or not. You gave her the benefit of the doubt, you stressed safety was the priority, you helped her figure out how the car seat worked (thank goodness), and you let her go with no penalties other than a lecture and a few minutes.
Anyone who sees this video and complains about you is either completely coddled, out of touch, or both.

    • @alaalfa8839
      @alaalfa8839 2 роки тому

Yes he did it well and she appreciated his knowledge and experience about safety, she was not arguing with him as others do.
Except at the beginning she said excuses..
But Dr. Bruce Lipton explains why people react in self-defense.
He says it is because your subconscious mind is a "network" of all your emotions and memories and fears
and sometimes people freak out, because the subconscious mind works on 95 percent and at beginning they react erratically and not very reasonably....but when they calm down they start to think more consciously.
Conscious mind has very weak processor, it works only on 5 percent of the day.
But if you practice meditation and metacognition, you easily observe the wrong thoughts, or wrongdoing.... and you react better in certain situation, thanks to metacognition.
Therefore actress Goldie Hawn created a program for kids in schools of US and in Europe to practice the mediation and metacognition and positive psychology to focus better on task and avoid stress and be more mindful and how to talk to other classmates with empathy. They even found out that thanks to these programs the crime in cities decreased.
This lady said in end of conversation 7:50 "Ok. right....Thank your I appreciate it." when she asked him about the tires. So it seems she at least is focused little bit on priorities.
Also at 2:35 she said "Ok, I know"
Other people would react very differently.
They wouldn´t say "Ok"....they would say "No you are wrong." because of ignorance and arrogance.

You handled that situation the exact way she needed to hear it. If you would have sugar coated it, or downplayed it and acted like it wasn't as big of a deal as it was.. chances are, she wouldn't have made any effort in the future to properly strap down the car seat, which would continue to put that child's life in danger. This is what it means to "protect and serve", and you're nothing but a class act at leading by example.

Your kindness is super appreciated from another moms POV. I got pulled over with my eldest son while he was 3yrs old, when the cop walked up my son pulled his arm thru his shoulder straps so he could wave and the cop told him very sternly and loudly to put his arm back, which got my son crying. Then he let me know my insurance was expired, when I showed him text messages from my ex who was supposed to be paying for the insurance, showing I sent texts asking about the insurance not even 4 days earlier and my ex had sent texts stating he had paid the insurance and that I should get something in the mail shortly, the cop stated that was my problem not his. He wrote me tickets for child endangerment and no insurance as well as a seatbelt ticket for my son as well. So, yay, going thru a sudden divorce, and got hit with over $1400 in tickets. At least you showed a parent kindness, some of us got treated a bit diffently. Kudos to you!!!

I agree. In Australia we are not able to leave the hospital without nursing staff bein confident that the child is securely and legally restrained. We can go to Ambulance and or Fire Station to assist the installation of baby seats. Unless babies and children are properly restrained in a car, there will be a very negative outcome.

@@jennynelson6728 we have the same thing here in the United States. There are even programs where you can get free car seats from the fire department or the police and they will install them for you too. Makes me wonder what other stupid things these "parents" do behind closed doors.

We need to start a petition or something, to make this happen on Dan's new network! 🤔

This rules and is a great insight into the fact that cops are in fact just humans, like everyone else, with their own feelings and emotions…Clarifying why the lecture means more than tickets and you’re not out to make anyone’s life harder, is such a great example of that. Stay safe, officer.

When my first child was born (26 years ago) my in-laws did NOT understand car seats. I was firm about them not going anywhere with my children in their vehicles without a car seat. They seemed to think we were just trying to be “new age parents” or “keep up with the Joneses.” I don’t know what happened to change their minds, but they finally came around.

I think you handled that perfectly! I would hope you and every other officer would be "harsh" with someone that's not taking a child's safety seriously. In the end you found out that she didn't know how to secure the seat, so it was a teaching and learning moment for her. I really hope this memory sticks in her brain for the rest of her life. It's not very often you see someone that was just pulled over, drive away with a smile on their face! 😀

    • @alaalfa8839
      @alaalfa8839 2 роки тому

Actress Goldie Hawn created 18 years ago a program for kids in schools, with help of other experts and psychologist.
They teach a kids mediation, metacognition, positive psychology and how to speak with other classmates with empathy.
The program is for all kids, but mostly it helps the kids from bad neighborhood or kids with ADHD, OCD, bipolar disorder, autism etc... so these kids may focus better without taking a prescribed medications, because the mediation helps to focus better and avoid stress, and manage the emotions better.
because research found out that every third child in US is on medication, or many kids are misdiagnosed, or the medications may also have a side effects.
So its much less harmful to do meditation and breathe techniques that calm them down so the have much more energy for some task, and also it improves their mental health and confidence.
The program is also for parents and teachers, because they also have to learn how to calm down, how to be more present and happy, ho to be more mindful.
Some teacher who was practicing this program in the school, said that she did not believe it will work so well
but when she noticed how the kids loved it and changed their behavior for better, she started to practice it more, for herself.
And some mother told her that before she was arguing with the child about something about homework, but now the child is much more calm and focused, much more happy.
With gratitude and empathy people learn new skills much better they also appreciate each other.
They found out that these programs in schools helped to decrease the crime in the cities.
Also this lady in the videos seemed little bit scared at beginning therefore she started to make excuses....Dr. Bruce Lipton said that it is a normal reaction to be scared at beginning,, because your subconscious mind is trained to protect you from failure.
And also Dr. Joe Dispenza says reacting is normal, because everybody reacts,...sometimes in this way.
but most important thing is how long you react.
If you react fearfully for one minute its normal thing, nobody is perfect.
but when you react fearfully for an 2 hours or for 5 days it is not not normal, that it requires some therapy, or techniques to overcome your emotions.
but after some while she showed empathy and appreciated the advice he told her about knowledge and safety.

I enjoy these more “plain” types of video. On shows like Cops, Live PD, “World’s Wildest (insert whatever)”, the viewers only get to see the most intense or action packed parts because that’s what the producers pick. It’s nice to see these more “ordinary” type calls you guys go on, since they’re likely the most common also. Mad support ✌🏼. Thanks for the content 😎.
