This is why I love American sports fans. We immediately love the great human beings in sport without regard for nationality. Ono is awesome. Great gutsy interview CP.
Tell that to the great wrestlers and great humans from Iran, Russia, and other countries who are politically opposed or have some kind of conflict with the US. American sports fans are much more likely to accuse them of cheating, using PEDs, etc. Ono is popular with Americans because he is making an effort to communicate; he does interviews like this in English, making himself accessible. How much love from Americans did you see for Japanese wrestlers like Rei Higuchi (57kg Olympic Champ) or Kotaro Kiyooka (65kg Olympic Champ), who, by the way, teched Ono to take the 65kg spot for Japan. Jumping sports, how much US love do you see for the Japanese boxer Nayoa Inoue, perhaps the best p4p boxer in the world?
@ I think we do. For example Americans LOVE Karelyn. Loved Vasily Alexiev. Loved the entire Soviet Olympic hockey team. Loved Olga Korbut. None spoke much English. Americans love champions. And you know this.
@@David-q3x9k Are you Rip van Winkle or something? You do realize that the Soviet Union disintegrated in 1992, 32 years ago, right? Olga Korbut! She competed for the USSR in 1972 and 1976! How about Sadulaev, one of the greatest wrestlers still competing? On wrestling forums today, Americans are more likely to accuse him of doping or lying about his age when he was younger. Not too much love for him from the US, especially since he just crushed David Taylor and has gotten the best of Kyle Snyder repeatedly.

Great job getting this interview and asking all the questions we have, Christian! It's awesome that he could understand and speak English. That's pretty cool.
Smart kid - could not imagine being interviewed in Japanese- amazing that he has not been live wresting for some time with broken bone - just shadow wrestling - amazing
I wish I had been there to help with the interview. I am an American who speaks Japanese ... living in Japan for 42 years, and wrestled in the states back in the day (4th in state, North Carolina, '73). By the way, in Japan, people are introduced by family name first. Riddle ...what does a non-Japanese say when they draw him in the first bracket of a tournament? ... "Oh no! Masanosuke!" 😂
@@stevo3883 LOL. Still a Carolina country boy at heart, and nothing in Japan like the NCAA season. Though Ono might have to be spelled "Oh, no" by the opposition, I'm guessing Penn State's line-up could probably give the Japanese Olympic team a run for their money. But the women's team? That's another story. 😂
Seems like exactly the type of guy a fan would want at The Top of The World representing the sport. Easy to root for, but still want Bo Bassett to overthrow him in two years.
@@PCruz-md1jb It's interesting that Ohtani is mentioned here. It made me think that Japanese athletes are going crazy this year. Interviewer trying too hard. Like he’s talking to a kid in elementary with the changes in tone mid sentence. I know his intentions are good, but just keep the questions simple…. Like “out of 100 matches, about how many you loss when you were a kid?”
This dude just became one of my favorite wrestlers basically overnight. What an absolute beast Ono is

bro is one of the best wrestlers in the world from watching technique youtube 😂 but really im a fan of this kid, good for flo doing this interview
Reminds me of Sakuraba, he's going to be a star. Future Olympic champion imo
Looks like a young Saku and he’s just as personable
If he is a future Sakuraba then better train in Muay Thai, catch wrestling, and bjj. For MMA of course. If only grappling then skip Muay Thai
