Nimefurahi kukutana na wewe! I was lucky enough to travel to Zanzibar 5 years ago. We travelled aroudn but stayed mostly in Stone Town and Jambiani. We were shown how to make beautiful Zanzibari food at Mrs Okala's house including pulao, fish samosa, chapati, greens, and much more besides. Such beautiful food in this island. In 2006 I moved to US and I was fortunate enough to visit Zanzibar last summer I wanted my children to know my roots other the food aspect , I did not see much significance changes though. The first Zanzibar restauranr in Dubai - the owner was called "Agha". It was established there in the early 70's or even 60's. The food was superb, they had beef biriyani, pilao chicken or fried fish. In the evenings they had samosas, mahamri and kebabs. I used to eat there frequently. The food was superb, they had beef biriyani, pilao chicken or fried fish. In the evenings they had samosas, mahamri and kebabs. I used to eat there frequently. Now I live in New Zealand, but I cook a lot and try our home recipes of E Africa. Good food, good memories. Salams
Yes , indeed I know Agha restaurant very well he was well known for his delicious food. I lived in Dubai for 20 yrs before moving to US in 2006. Before I met my husband I was very keen on moving to Australia or New Zealand. Its good to know you are keeping in touch with home recipes. Take care
