This is absolutely my favourite episode (yes, more than 2 and 4) of the season. Daemon and Alys season in front the heart tree was great, Daemon consoling his brother was great, and the best Larys scene is with Aegon this episode.

I also think the bird stopped singing sybolizes that Alicent, in her cage, has been silenced.

22:02 Did you notice what he used to slice his throat? It was a dragon glass dagger.

I didn't like Rhaenyra and Mysaria hooking up. To me it nullified slot of the political tension between them. Now I get the feeling that they will be lovers "fighting the good fight", which is not what I wanted or expected. I liked the power dynamics in their scenes. And them having a little shagga lagga might make their relationship a bit underwhelming compared to what we may have gotten.
Again, I could be wrong and perhaps I will be pleasantly surprised. We'll just have to see where they take this story-line. And I agree - telling your supposed love interest about your childhood abuse and then hooking up right after is just ew. I said out loud "nonono, please don't go there!" And they did. It took me out of the story and I was really enjoying the scene. I loved getting a background story for Mysaria. Aaaand then I didn't.
Btw, Mysaria opening up (no pun) and Larys doing the same is a nice juxtaposition. In both cases I don't know when to trust them to tell the truth.

The issue with finding dragon riders is that they were looking for high born folks, not the small folk.

Can’t believe you didn’t mention anything about the hint of sheepstealer after rhaena saw evidence of a large wild dragon at pentos. I’m excited.

Clever writing by adding House Beesbury taking up arms against Highgarden and Oldtown in retaliation for what happen to their Lord in season 1. This sets up conflict in the Reach, in addition to the Riverlands, for the upcoming seasons.

When Vissy T was sobbing, I forgot he was an actor in a role. That got to me.

My favorite part of this episode was the Larys and Aegon scene. While he is always scheming, I truly believed Larys was being vulnerable and honest with Aegon. For the first time, I thought of Larys not being cut from the same cloth as Varys or Littlefinger, but Tyrion instead.
Someone who was born “wrong” in the eyes of their father, a youngest sibling incapable of living up to the standard in Westeros as a “strong son” (pun intended).
Like Tyrion, Larys’ strength lies in his wisdom and foresight for those around him, particular to his siblings growing up. I can’t wait to see how the show continues to portray him, because we know he’s allegiance to Aegon….but F&B illustrates that nobody really can explain his motivations or endgame.
    ***book spoiler section****
Another thought I had this episode with Alys Rivers how it would be great irony if she is a bastard from the Strong family. Aemond quite literally destroys the family line, but then ultimately continues it by having the alleged kid with Alys??? That’s kinda crazy to think about

My question is: how much time has passed this season? We jumped all through time less season… but how much time has passed in world since Luc died? To me it feels like it’s only been about a month, in world, since Rhaenerya birthed her still born daughter, and about 2 weeks (a fortnight) since Daemon went to Harrenhall. So, how long ago was Aegon crowned? I wish the show should make this much more clear… I LOVE the character development… but, are all these conversations happening within 2 weeks of Aegon’s son being killed? It’s confusing to me. Any help understanding the time line this season would be great. Thanks!

Greetings Sers. I really liked this episode. I encourage all to always take a moment to step back and look at the big picture: this series appears to be having two more seasons. I think we’ll look back and appreciate season two for setting up HUGE events coming in season 3 and possibly season 4. Also, I am really enjoying the Daemon scenes. For all his flaws (and he has done deplorable things), Daemon hugging his brother, “I should have been there for you”, really got me. These past two seasons has shown us Daemon truly cares about his brother. Queen Rhaenyra says in this episode that Daemon always wanted the affection of her father. Thanks for the content.

Great show. Always love your breakdowns, theories and reviews. I wonder what the outcome would be if Alys and Helena ever cross paths. Magic, dreams, witches... I had thought Laenor may come back to reclaim Seasmoke...guess not. As for Rhaenyra and Mysaria, I think you have to understand Rhaenyra's head space. It's simply about connection. She's lost it with Daemon, Rhaenys, Alicent, and her kids are gone. I don't think it was..."ooo lets hit that thing" kind of moment. Larys has to change tactics since Aemond pretty much put him in his place. Crickets sometime stop chirping in the presence of predators. Just a couple thoughts.

I’m kinda disappointed how Daemon character is being portrayed in the TV show. He was my favorite character in the book. In the show, he’s somewhat of a dimwit.

it was good but i dont like what they are doing with mysaria and rhaenyra, that scene didnt hit at all to be the final scene of the ep. seasmoke was mvp

  • @efrent-vr3bm
    @efrent-vr3bm Місяць тому

If the show was going to do that with Seasmoke. Why not just follow the book with Laenor's death?
Or they just wanted to show Daemon murdering an innocent servant to make him look more evil

Sorry I’m gonna have 2 go against the grain and say I really did not like this episode. Daemon at Harrenhall has gotten so repetitive and annoying that it takes me out of the experience when that is happening it felt like this was another filler episode and a lot of people seem to agree with that. Judging that we only have 2 episodes left I’m kinda worried
