Wainwrights Coast to Coast - Day 10, Reeth to Richmond

Day 10 - Reeth to Richmond, 10 miles
Having had a good night's sleep and a really satisfying breakfast at the Kings Arms Hotel in Reeth, it was time to don my waterproofs and head to Richmond.
It was raining heavily as I set off, I'd held back a little later hoping for it to ease, but no such luck.
I'd had the forethought to brink my "hiking brolly" and I was really glad I did that day. Onwards I headed out of Reeth back along the banks of the Swale for a while. I soon reached the turn away from the Swale and eventually joined a road and decided to follow it all the way to Marrick Prior, a private adventure holidays centre.
I then climbed the slippery steps up towards the village of Marrick, the rain continued to lash down as I followed the trail all the way to Nun Cote Farm. I then had a bright idea, I'll go to the farm and use the cafe for a break out of the rain... it was closed - this seems to be a constant theme throughout my hike of the C2C since leaving Grasmere.
I was soon back on the trail proper and in no time passed through Marske and found the awesome tuck shop and rest stop at St Edmond's Church. After a brew and a good rest from the downpour outside I was ready to continue...
The climb up to Applegarth Scar I'm sure would have been a lot more enjoyable in better weather but at least it offered some views as the valley closed in.
Eventually, I reached the side road that led to Richmond and the rain actually got worse, head down I made good time and arrived in Richmond at my B&B and was more than ready for an evening in Richmond and a Zero there also the next day. It did eventually stop raining at around 5pm so I explored Richmond town centre and found the Castle Tavern selling local beer, which was excellent.
