An excellent and very comprehensive overview of ship models for HO scale model railroads. I’d like to add several boat models from LINDBERGH. The first is their fishing boat, others are the Tuna Clipper, tugboat, and Nantucket Lightship. All are full hull, however I’ve cut them down and made waterline models out of them. One note about ship colors-work boats, especially fishing boats, had hulls painted black-presumably so rust, etc didn’t show.
FYI: LINDBERG has a really nice car ferry tug that I picked up for about $25! I changed the diesel stack out with a taller one for a coal-burning version.
Thank you for covering this and giving your opinions. I've been on the fence with the Slyvan Tramp Steamer, and i can't find the Artitec freighter. I have the Sardine boat, and lobster boats, but looking for a coastal freighter.
