I'm an old guy modeler, & cheap too. I've enjoyed trains, cardboard model building or scratch using Northeastern wood supplies for over 65 yrs. (I could never afford kits) I know your enthusiasm and pleasure. My neighbour's 13 y.o. got an h.o. train set last year, so I turned him on to you, to watch your skills, to fire him up for a life time of fun. I passed all my train stuff to him. I was ailing, but his model building enthusiasm has brought me back to life, in an effort to pass that joy along! Thank you, Jason for your vedio presentations. I love them! 🙂❤
I have to say, I love this channel. I used to do model railroading was I was young, but never got back in it. However, this channel is very relaxing, and your techniques have helped me in my current hobbies of prop building, action figure displays, and set building. So, keep it up!
Thank you so much Salvatore!!! Prop building seems like such a fun hobby! I see lots of UA-cam videos on it. Thanks for watching and happy modeling!!! 👍
Thanks Davie!!! It’s always hard for me to name the videos because I feel I usually cover more then one topic, lol. Thanks for following on the journey!!!
You always make my day Jason, outstanding modelling skills aside, I enjoy seeing you admitting and overcoming your trials and tribulations with that good natured personality of yours. Fancy staying up all night to finish a kit, what a beast lol.
Thank you so much Jeff!!! That’s a great idea! I may try some different textured roads on different parts of the layout. It’s always a fun adventure. Thanks for watching! 👍
Jason you really have a busy city. I think you should build a police station and have a chase scene. All those old vehicles I seen today made me think of the old movies chasing Dillinger 🤔. Just a thought. Might be fun. Thank you for what you do, Chris
Amazing the thought you put into locations for buildings but not afraid to move them around to fit the scene. I greatly appreciate sharing your thoughts, talents, inspiration and encouragement with us fellow modelers. Keep them coming.
looks great, nice video. When you paint the water in the harbour you could try making small waves in the fresh clear acrylic with the air from an air brush. I saw that for the first time recently.
Brilliant. Your techniques for simulating and weathering concrete is superb, as is the way you customise and combine so many kits to continually develop the layout.
As always great. Waterfronts are so fun. I built one in HO about 100 years ago. Or I guess 30 years ago? Anyway yours is so great! Love this new section. And your use of foam.
Really cool video, I enjoyed seeing how you used foam for the concrete. Am working on a road made out of something similar. Appreciate you showing the way!
Jason, Yet another great build(s). Thank you for sharing with us. It is a fantastic journey you are taking us on. I can personally say, you have, with your trchniques and tips, improved my modelling. I now have people telling me my houses are so realistic. Thank you for the tips, and great videos that show us the details of how to improve. Keep the videos coming, and thanks again. Stay safe, Michael
Hello Jason, well I start my Week-end with another dreaming build ! Your layout is so peacefull ! Thanks for sharing with us your tips and your technics. Take care of you and yours.
I just found this channel and it is amazing!! I am super impressed, both with your craftsmanship and with your productivity. I'm guessing from what I have seen so far that most if not all of your structures (on the railroad layout) are scratch built. I have built half a dozen layouts over the years and love detail. My question is where do you get it all? Although N scale is much better than it used to be, I can't imagine where you find all this stuff to scale. I'm sure you explain all this somewhere and I apologize for being redundant, but if you can give me some direction that would be awesome.
Awesome build. I love the way that section is coming together, and I love the way you rarely build a kit without putting your own design on it, either adding something, or changing the dimension of a roofline, etc. Mild kitbashing is always fun and ensures a unique build. Kudos!
Thank you so very much!!! I really try to make each structure unique to my layout. I really hope I encourage others to do the same. Thanks for watching!!! 👍
Fantastic video, your layout is really coming on, a very busy, bustling place it's becoming. Enthused by your enthusiasm and the great model making tricks and tips, thanks for sharing. 👍😁
Hey Jason, really like what you’re doing with this part of your layout. Having made the rough contours and now placing the dance hall indeed requires a brick foundation. Could even be a basement for the illegal casino. Anyhow, the thing is, because it’s not pre-planned, you have to adjust to the terrain. That requires another way of thinking. Of course we all can also adjust the part, but to follow the terrain is what makes the scene believable. Not too neat and zen scrubbed dirt road. Definitely wabi sabiying. Very cool!!
Thank you for sharing your work and creative thought process with the world. ... for reminding us of what's possible in this hobby.. Jason, aside from my model railroad interests, I enjoy building plastic models, I am working on an invisible Man model (1/8 scale), how would you recommend that I make the lab beakers/flasks look filled with a chemical solution of some kind?
Thank you so much Vincent!!! I would use a gloss polyurethane (water based) and put a small drop of acrylic paint in it to tint it what ever color you want. Hope that helps! 👍
Thank you so much Eric!!! Great question, I painted them because the skewer sticks seem to be coated with something to seal them so they don’t take stain well. Thanks for watching!!! 👍
I'm extremely impressed with your model building. I have one question, sometimes you put the paint on first and the alcohol wash on second and sometimes you put the alcohol wash on first and then the paint. Is there any reason for doing it one way or the other?
Putting the paint on first then putting the stain over it gives it more of an aged look. I would experiment on some scrap wood to get the look you want. Thanks for watching Wanda!
Well Jason the hits just keep coming!!! You start with a cool kit and Jensenize it. It ends up one of a kind. On my saw mill I used Murky Brown and Shadow Gray so I will be getting the ones you used on this video. Did you shake them before you used them and did you let the first one dry before the other?
Hey Jason, amazing work as usual. Love how your layout comes together since I first discovered your channel. Two quick questions, you have a lot of structures build, but will your layout also get a train station ? and second, did you never regret installing lights inside your buildings from the start of your layout ?
Thank you so much Mario!!! Yes, it will have a train station eventually. I’m not one for lights because I want my layout room to be as bright as possible so people can see all the detail. I like putting lights on my sci-fi layout because I can have the room dark when I’m watching a movie and have the lights on the layout going, looks pretty cool! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
Hi, really enjoy your videos. You have awesome skills. If you don't mind me asking-- I wonder which of the VeterO stains colors you would recommend as must haves? Thank you
I have a simple question for you… I have been watching you build this Port town for a couple years now. It’s been very inspiring in a lot of ways. But I am left with a question… do you have a link of any sort between the railroad and the waterfront in a video I may have missed or upcoming? Or does the train just run through town and go it’s merry way?
I watch your videos and really like your techniques for weathering, but I have to ask one question. Have you ever put together a building that wasn't in a state of disrepair. My wife was in the room the other day as I watched a few of your videos. She had me laughing when she said, gee, I'd hate to live in one of the neighborhoods he's built.
@@JasonJensenTrains I will, pal! I'm kinda stuck here recouping and was hoping for one of your vids, but I look forward to seeing ur next one. Glad it okay.
Rather than a brick foundation for your dance hall, why don't you use pilings instead. You can then put all sorts of neat trash accumulated under the building. You might even put a couple or shady characters under there.
Your city scapes don’t have homes, apartments yes but no homes. Your layout looks nice but if we’re real I wouldn’t want to live there. Just my opinion.
I'm an old guy modeler, & cheap too. I've enjoyed trains, cardboard model building or scratch using Northeastern wood supplies for over 65 yrs. Just a pier! And then a few more buildings too. Great
Thanks Davie!!! It’s always hard for me to name the videos because I feel I usually cover more then one topic, lol. Thanks for following on the journey!!!
Really enjoyed the multiple buildings and structures video. It's nice to see progress move along quickly. The new pier is outstanding.
Thank you so very much!!! I really enjoy working on it! Thanks for watching!!!
Your weathering is always impressive, so much discipline, judgment and control. The results speak for itself.
Thank you so very much!!! I really appreciate it!
very high standard of modeling, great technique and applications you are a star
WOW! Thank you so very much Ian!!! I really appreciate it! Thanks for watching! 👍

LOL! Thank you so much Steve!!! I really appreciate it! 👍
Thank you Jason again for share. Every single video is been enjoyed a lot ,Cesar
Thank you so much Cesar!!! I always appreciate hearing from you!
Fantastic as always. Would love to see maybe some cobblestone streets, which are perfect for an old seaport. Just a thought. Cheers.
Thank you so much Jeff!!! That’s a great idea! I may try some different textured roads on different parts of the layout. It’s always a fun adventure. Thanks for watching! 👍

such an incredible projet, I am glad to follow your progress, since I can't have a layout I can live the experience throug your project

looks great, nice video. When you paint the water in the harbour you could try making small waves in the fresh clear acrylic with the air from an air brush. I saw that for the first time recently.
Thank you so much!!! I’ve seen that done on videos, I may have to try it! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
That is an incredible layout.
Thank you so much Scott!!! I truly appreciate it!
Wonderful creativity and technique, first class buildings!!😍😍😍👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much Phil!!! 👍
I would love to see Carolina Craftsman Kit, Doc. Koontz Store go in that spot, across from the dance hall instead.
Maybe a different spot or even a separate diorama some day! Thanks for watching!!! 👍
You can also get them at a Dollar Stoe in the kitchen area
Really nice build. I like your ideas and your "way" of finishing each project. They are each different but "connected". Thanks Jason...
Thank you so much Craig!!! I always appreciate it! 👍
I just found the channel, and subscribed. You do unbelievable work and now I need a pier somewhere in my layout.
Love your videos! I don’t have the space for a layout so I am living vicariously through you. Thanks!
Thank you so much Steve!!! Glad to have you along for the journey. Thanks for watching!!! 👍
Thanks a lot for your vids.... Your layout reminds me of a certain Gorre and Daphetid.........love it.....
Your work is awesome 👍👍👍
Thank you so very much David!!!
Great job as always. I enjoy watching your "Layout" grow.
Thank you so much Brett!!! It truly is my passion and I love sharing it with everyone!
I hope that you will be able to put some scratch builds out of styrene in that area as well as the beautiful wood kits.
Thank you Ronald!!! I know I be building some plastic brick structures. Stay tuned for that. Thanks for watching!!!
Brilliant. Your techniques for simulating and weathering concrete is superb, as is the way you customise and combine so many kits to continually develop the layout.

Hey mate, starting my layout, and I was going to use a 2 inch thick foam
Sorry, 2 inch thick foam as a base to deaden track noise. What is your opinion.
Thanks

Have you ever thought about using Murky Brown and the other stains in an airbrush? that might give some interesting effects.
I will definitely give that a try Paul! Thanks for the great suggestion and thanks for watching!!!
Love it!
Thank you Doug!!!
I love the video and the layout. Stupid question, why did you paint the pilings instead of staining them? Thanks.
Thank you so much Eric!!! Great question, I painted them because the skewer sticks seem to be coated with something to seal them so they don’t take stain well. Thanks for watching!!! 👍

Mine are all 1 1/2 inches. Thanks so much for watching Rob! 👍

Hi Jason where do you get the sheets you used for the pier it looks a lot faster then using individual strips to make a print
