Hey have you thought about talking about Lossless scaling any time soon? I've seen a video on it by vex but I'm curious to see how stalker 2 & some other game's could benefit from the boost in FPS it gives.
I am extremely disappointed. 1. The developer didn't put much effort into tweaking the display settings. Even though I play on OLED, I can't see much at night on the default ones. At the beginning, a group of soldiers attacks, you can't see them at all, but they have perfect eyesight and shoot accurately from a distance. In HDR, there are 6 sliders to adjust the image, including 3 for brightness... In SDR, the problems are similar, only there are fewer sliders, but the image also looks worse. The lighting looks terrible, with no gradation in the transition from brightness to shadow. The guy is standing in the house at sunset and he cannot be seen despite the window in the room. Increasing the brightness may slightly reveal its outline, but it leads to black crush. There is no gradation in shadow details. Once you manage to set one scene to look relatively coherent, the next time (change of time of day, internal specific lighting) the whole coherence falls down like a house of cards. After an hour of testing on HDR or SDR, I gave up - it should be the developer's responsibility to prepare presets tested on reference displays, not the player's responsibility to work wonders with 6 sliders. 2. Even though the game is on UE5, it is not visible at all. It looks mediocre, has lighting problems (and UE5 games are usually really well made in this respect), which I wrote about earlier, and the whole thing freezes terribly on Series neither Lumen nor Nanite. 3. The game mechanically stopped in 2007. It literally feels like a graphical mod for the first Stalker. The word that comes to my mind is "clunky", both in terms of mechanics, gameplay characteristics and gunplay. Stealth? Forget about it, only in the rain (????wtf). The creators did not refine the game on a gamepad, aiming with almost zero deadzone is very unpleasant. This is one of the worst gunplays I've ever encountered. Chernobylite was more fun to play. The only thing this game has going for it is its atmosphere and sound. Pity.
@@McLeonVPby your statement, playing games at higher resolutions like 4 K... Would end up in majority of games being not optimised as GPU load will be 95/100 percent while CPU is gonna be 15/25 percent.
some1 know the anime Naruto ???? and Kakashi with his Mask??? we had the same problem wiht daniel XDDDD ..... but for me was fun. i stoped the video at the ad and didnt realize its daniel ;P hahaha
I remember my framerate tanking massively in Call of Pripyat when i went to hubs with many NPCs around, back in the day. Pretty odd a handful of NPC's basically doing nothing is having that big of a hit on the CPU.
CPU bottlenecks are forms of data computing, basically something is constantly wasting time calling for data all the time, stalling itself and not sending said data to GPU in time.
STALKER 2 Dev Says UE5’s Nanite and Lumen Were the ‘Right Bricks’ to Properly Finish the Game Alessio Palumbo (WCCFTech) • Aug 25, 2023 at 02:00 PM EDT So go into the config file and use cvar to turn off nanites and lumen.
I bet most people would be much happier if the games looked just a bit more dated, but ran on much cheaper hardware with high FPS and settings. More people could play the game which means more money for the developers. But this seems to be the new normal. I don't understand going above and beyond with the graphics, making the games basically unplayable for a lot of people. Gaming is slowly becoming a luxury that fewer and fewer people can afford anymore.
@@1738-l1jit does look dates. People are kidding themselves if they think it looks next gen. Even GAMMA has moments where it looks better with all the shaders, and runs better as well. And has real a-life ai system.
I just love how everyone is complaining about 4090 not being able to run this game maxed at 4K, when the real problem is clearly the CPU. When 7800X3D cannot hold consistent 60fps, you know there is a big problem. GPU scaling looks absolutely fine, Daniel even showed 1060 running 20-30 fps which is pretty amazing for low end GPU from 8 years ago.
but is it "the CPU" when the CPU is clearly not maxing out any of the cores? No one would claim "Its the GPU!" if the game limits the GPU usage to 20% or whatever. I mean yeah technically it might be the CPU but the CPU obviously has more to give and the game is not making use of it. That is not the CPU, that is "optimization".
@TheHuffur CPU usage alone is not as reliable to show CPU bottleneck. It's generally more reliable to just look at GPU usage, if it's dropping below 90% at times then it means that GPU is waiting for something (it might not be CPU, something else could be also bottlenecking). In the video you can clearly see that dropping internal resolution on 4090 at some point gives no fps gain, therefore it's limited most likely by the CPU. Overall the game is clearly super heavy on both GPU and CPU but there is little you can do to help with parts of the game where the CPU is struggling. Usually graphic settings do not scale with CPU and only framegen can basically go around the limitation. Daniel has other very informative videos on the CPU bottleneck and how to better recognize it
@@elpomidor2k Which is just word salad for "the game is for some reason not able to use the CPU to its potential" and sweeping it under the rug. I know that, I also know that not a single person would accept if it was the GPU getting the same performance/optimization treatment where the game only uses 50-60% of the GPU basically no matter what you do while the game is also GPU bound.
@@TheHuffur I don't even disagree with that. If they would spend more time on optimization it would perform better, that's a given (easier said than done btw). My initial comment was just pointing out that people in comments are focusing too much on GPU performance when in this case it seems like it's mostly CPU performance that's unacceptable. Also most games can run into the CPU bottleneck before even one thread is 100% used. CPUs just don't work like that and judging everything on utilization doesn't tell the whole story.
Funny that at the exact same time you explain the 5600X cannot maintain 60 FPS there's a NPC saying "What do you expect from a place called Garbage? It's full of trash."
Bad CPU performance is even more worrisome because you can't effectively turn down settings for increased performance. 7800X3D getting 60-80fps in town is pretty damn bad.
I think dropping settings does help in this game. You can see clearly that the older CPU can get close to the fps of 7800X3D on the medium settings. view distance can be an fps killer... and maybe some lumen related setting also can give gains in this game. Such as the distance up to which the GI is calculated.
the fact that a 4090, priced in my area at 2084 euro, won't net you 60fps at 4k feel like some kind of hate crime gonna come check back on this game in 6 months

Are u running DLSS quality with frame Gen ? Because I’m getting no less than 80 fps with the 4090….and averaging around 95 fps at 4K…..of course with DLSS and frame Gen enabled
4K is still not applicable with high settings even on a 4090, either you use DLSS or play at 2K. ( and theres people now believing that the ps5 pro plays games in 8K lmao )

It's got to the stage where you need to wait at least a year after a game's release for the bugs to be ironed out and 2 years for the hardware to become affordable enough to run it.
The positive about this is, it will almost always be $30 or less too. I'm really trying to hold off on games I want to play these days because of these problems.
I know right, how can they release a engine they know has problems knowing fine well that almost every new game is going to be made on it, why are game companies making games on a engine that has problems. We have gotten to the point now where it should be a legal requirement that game companies HAVE to release a demo so people can see if they can actually play it before spending money on it. I have a 13600 and a 3070 (not the best I know) but I preordered hogwarts and I still can't play it to this day due to stutters, silent hill 2 i was really hyped for but havent bought it because of the stutter issues, monster hunter wilds seems to be a unoptimized mess as well which im going to skip out on. gaming is dead rn

Indeed welcome to the modern age of PC gaming, where fake resolutions and fake framerate numbers, are now used has benchmarks and the real thing, the native raw power, is now "old news". IMO this is largest con GPU makers ever did to PC gamers, all to increase GPU prices, while not increasing that much real GPU raw power and many eat it like is the best thing ever. I encounter from time to time, people that complain their game running at, for example 120fps, with frame generation, somehow feels sluggish, proving this people have no idea how frame generation works and just fell for the GPU makers marketing bs.

The render pipeline is the culprit and i really hoped that GSC Gameworld would actually make huge improvements. For that matter i rather watch DF who delve a bit in whats behind all the tech and issues.
I mean, if it helps, I think not all of what Daniel is doing is necessarily everyone's idea of a good, happy life. I assume you do, but what I mean to say here is that I think there are many ways to live a good life. Even if your circumstances being in a wheelchair undoubtedly make it harder to achieve. I hope you can find that happy place for you, even if it might be a different happy place than Daniel's.

What seems to be a common theme is the thread counts in the config file not being set correctly in a lot of games. Warzone is a prime example, if you go into the config file, on a fresh install, the thread count that goes to the cores of the CPU are all incorrect, once you put the correct number in for physical cores, it then shifts it to the GPU and the FPS is much better, I've gone from 90 to 120-140 just spending 30 minutes changing around 10-15 settings, it seems Gore count which is like the Form ID of the engine is also a big factor, and Shadows. I have also seen that CAS is the best option as well, for fidelity and consistent FPS, it's because most 3rd party games are made for those AMD APU's in the PS5 and Series X/S because the PS5 is the one that sells the most units.

Pity.

Bad CPU performance is even more worrisome because you can't effectively turn down settings for increased performance. 7800X3D getting 60-80fps in town is pretty damn bad.
Just use framegen, eliminates this issue entirely.
60-80fps is fine for this style of game and it's not the first game released that sees it's full graphics potential a few years later.

Back in 2016 you could play in beautiful witcher 3 at ultra settings with 1060 6gb. Now same gpu but the game doesn't look... like a game anymore? Masterpiece of optimization.
Yes, I did the same but with crippled 3.5GB GTX 970 on 1080p, most settings on high. Game was beautiful, FPS was between 50-60.
My first impression of the game was via Steam reviews. Lets just say I wasn't impressed...
90% of reviews hours after release (spam that's mostly deleted 24 hours later): "A moment of silence for our fellow stalkers who passed away before they got here. See you in the Zone, Stalker!".
It's just like any new game today, it will need multiple patches before it works well. I have little doubt it will eventually be fixed because it's a passion project by the devs. Given the extreme difficult current conditions in Ukraine I'll give them a pass on judging them.
Cope.

I play it on a 4090 in 4k and DLSS in quality preset. I've never seen an image in 4K as blurry as this one. The input lag is also ridiculous. So in 10 years you could at least have expected that it wouldn't be such a bad pixel mush. The ridiculously high number of bugs and glitches aside, I didn't expect anything else. But basic things like a clear image and lag-free input at 100+ fps should already be included. Difficult development conditions or not. This game will become an illustration of all the weaknesses of the unreal engine in the coming months. Above all, this caustic blurring that we already know from many other titles is particularly oppressive here. There's also something wrong with the vegetation or moving objects in general in UE5. It would be interesting if this stuff was finally discussed.
Thank god someone spoke the real truth from observation. I know exactly what you mentioned and have played too many of these blur fests

The game doesn't use much VRAM. It's the one good thing about UE5. So it's not the 12GB that's a problem, the game stays under 12GB of VRAM epic settings at 4k.
What are your settings?
Why would you spend $1000 when the next generation GPUs are coming out in the beginning of next year? As someone about 4 hours in on a 4070s I see absolutely no problem on Epic settings at 1440p with DLSS Q/FG. VRAM is not a problem here and if you spent 2 seconds double tapping alt+R you'd see that lmfao.

Been playing 1440p Medium above 80FPS just fine. Only one game breaking bug that’s EASILY avoidable if you don’t enter a house in the opening segment. 8 hours. Honestly a lot of the review complaints are probably people trying to max out a UE5 game which honestly is a UE5 issue in general.
80 fps at only 2k Medium, with graphics that are this outdated is pretty dang bad
@ I haven’t had any complaints thus far, at those settings the game looks great. Until optimized I’ll keep it there.
Pretty sure some sort of UE5 feature is constantly barraging your PC with data requests to the point where the CPU is overburdened. Like how Lumen in silent hill 2 remake kept trying to re-render the dirt ground multiple times for no reason, and trying to simulate shadows on trees, in deep fog where a player cannot see shadow.

I feel sorry for the conditions the employees had to work under, the external pressure. However, this is still unacceptable.
