      This is not about politics, but in terms of trade, I believe Taiwan and China are treated separately. Many gaming consoles, such as the PS5, are indeed manufactured in China. However, for high-end CPUs and GPUs, they are likely all produced by TSMC in Taiwan.

      I'd love the RDNA4 product stack to be varied and interesting like RDNA2. Rx 6000 series was so awesome to me.
      I'd love:
      -Rx 8500 = rx 6600 xt-rx 6650xt /rtx 3060 12gb
      - Rx 8600 = Rx 6700 10gb
      -Rx 8700= Rx 6750 xt
      - Rx 8700 xt = Rx 7700xt/rx 6800
      -Rx 8800 = Rx 7800xt
      -Rx 8800 xt = Rx 7900gre.
      And the pricing should be around the CURRENT pricing, as off November 2024. Max GPU cost of £700 for highest RDNA4 sku.
      Imagine if AMD did that. With better production features , more flesher out AV1 codec, power efficiency of Rtx 40 series.
      Even if the ray-tracing is say, 80%-90% as good as 40 series ray-tracing. That'll be quite nice. And please, at least FSR 3.1 in dozens to dozens more games please (minimum 3.0).

      No. Same GPU but 10% more expensive. Don't be fooled by the newer generation. If you look at the GPU Techpowerup chart that Daniel uses, you'll see that the 7800 XT is only 5% faster, but for 10% more money. The same goes for Ray tracing performance.
      With this logic you would never buy anything because the 7900 GRE is "only" $60 more expensive but 10% faster. But why stop there when the 7900 XT is "only" $100 more expensive than the GRE but 20% faster. But wait, what about the 7900 XTX? Do you know what I mean?

    I just pulled the trigger on a Saphire nitro+ 7900 XTX while having a 3090, but I'm in a weird situation because of two things.
    I've switched to Linux 100% during this year, where even though the NVIDIA card was doing mostly all right for me, there are still some headaches with some technologies that I don't have any issue with running on my full AMD laptop. So it's mostly a convenience kinda choice, I want to be able to use my hardware while spending the least amount of time possible with reading and finding out solutions to make things work. Might sound contradicting from a person using Linux, but that's a different topic why I jumped ship from Windows.
    Other thing is that I'm leaving my home country for possibly a longer time, at least 4 months but if it goes well maybe even years, I know the used market here and I'm confident that I can sell my 3090 for a decent amount of money to make the expense of buying a new GPU a bit less painful. 😄
    AMD's marketing about they're not going to make a high end product also not helping my case, I know I want to try out AMD on Linux, but why would I wait for their next gen if I can already buy a good GPU with decent amount of VRAM now.

    Thanks for your numerous analysis and recommendations. I chose to get a 4080 super for a few reasons: 1-my current cpu is a 12700k and matches it well without bottleneck (which I will have on the new graphic cards likely and I want to use my current cpu to the best of it’s ability before upgrading). 2-my power supply is 750 just enough for a power savvy 4080, otherwise upgrade is needed. 3-I would rather wait for the best version of the 50 series that will likely come out a year later as NVIDIA often does. 4-they will not be cheaper than the current cards anyway 5-the functions they will offer will likely not add anything to my gaming experience until the super/ti versions come out 6-avoid scalpers and potential early issues 7-a good card can always be upgraded

Recently 5-6 months ago, I upgraded my gaming laptop PC to an RTX 4070 Ti 12gb Vram and an i7 13th generation graphics card, along with a 360hz screen and 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD with a recent 32 gb RAM upgrade as of today! Before the upgrade, I was running with an RTX 2070 paired with an i7 10th gen cpu that i purchased in 2020; it lasted me 4 years able to run games at respectable High/ultra settings. I am pleased to report that I have not encountered any issues with any game, even when playing with maximum settings and RTX enabled. Never did even when I was on 16gb of RAM with the same specs.
    The key is to purchase the best PC that you can afford at the time, as this will determine how long it will be able to play the latest games at respectable maximum or high settings for the next 4-5 years.!

I can afford what I can afford, I'll buy the best thing I can get within that range when I decide I'm tired of current hardware.

    I think that the 50 series is going to be underwhelming and over priced. They care less about the gaming gpu market and more about ai stuff rn. Also you had a good point with the tariffs. It's possible that could raise the price of the gpu market slightly and effect the 50 series cards coming here to Canada. With this uncertainty I decided to grab a 4070 ti super to cover me for the next 8-10 years. However I did have a little regret but maybe it will be the right call.

    Should I get the 4070 super or a Rx 7900 xt? The RX is way cheaper at the moment

  • @albertocarranco7491
    @albertocarranco7491 Місяць тому +21

    The lowest priced 4070 super is around $590, while the lowest priced 7900XT is priced at $640. That's a $50 (8.5%) difference in price and up to 28% in rasteized performance and fairly even in some ray-tracing tasks (aside from heavy RT).

      I wouldn't buy a 7900xt , upscaling is basically required for current gen games even at 1440p. FSR is unusable

    • @metalface_villain
      @metalface_villain Місяць тому +3

      the difference is 20% not 28% and they are not even close at rt, not that it matters really cuz 1 the 4070 super is not that great at heavy rt either and 2 i'd personally much rather 20% more fps than having rt. amd finally decided to drop the price of the 7900xt and xtx to where they should have been from the start but i fear it's way too late now and people will probably just wait for the newer series and see what's up.

      @danielowentech  Місяць тому +3

      Nobody can answer that question with complete confidence. However, as mentioned in this video, I will say that AMD generally offers similar performance at the same price as Arc GPUs, while having fewer games with inexplicably bad performance. In other words, I don't generally recommend Arc GPUs over AMD alternatives.

    Is there any consideration to the power draw? The power draw on a lot of these AMD cards nearly 100W or 70% more than their competitors. I'm a lighter gamer now and that would still run me ~$30 extra a year extra plus more heat and stress on PSU and rest of PC, and need to run room AC room more. So one should really factor in that $30-80 a year extra cost of owning an AMD GPU.

    Looking at replacing my 3070 for MH Wilds next year, initial thought was to wait for the 5070 but the 12gb vram for what will very likely be $800 to get on launch is nothing short of unacceptable, there's games from years ago that get over 12gb maxing all settings and to expect the consumer in 2025 (which they will) to pay over $500 for 12 is insane.
    Unless bench testing of the initial offerings shakes the landscape up a 4070 ti super or even a 4080 super seems to make far more sense & tick all the boxes.

    Smart choice and planning on the cards you've mentioned. I've been shopping for almost 2 months now and being decisive myself on getting anything. I currently don't have a GPU at all and it's the only thing missing from my new build in over 10 years now. so being very picky on the card but every single one you mentioned are the only ones that make sense minus that 4070 TI at the at this point I think that's a little bit on the diminishing side as you claimed, very smart shopper here and gives you the real deal. and some places make it harder to see what you need to see. but if you're shopping for future gen and want to get with 1440p a little bit smoother and you like me and always been Nvidia fan. you need to start looking at AMD honestly because I have, most benchmarking sites don't show you the whole purpose of why those AMD cards cost a little bit more for that little bit more of RAM and it's all in the 1440p. so anyone looking to upgrade be smart and either get a AMD card that Daniel's mentioned or just wait for next gen. definitely don't buy a 4060 or anything less than 8GB VRAM if you plan on using 1440p, thanks for your time Daniel. I appreciate your videos. you are the second person I've actually subscribed to in 20 years now haha
