I'm new and thought about buying a used FT-450D as my first rig. But I looked around a bit and now I think the FT-710 Field will be "the one", not even to begin with ham radio.... Thx for your video!
Someone asked why you bought an FT710 and you replied that you wanted to share the radio with all via UA-cam. I want to thank you for doing this which is greatly important and truly aids people like me in making a decision on it. With headphone you can hear the weaknesses and deficiencies of the radio and you my friend have provided this, indoors and outdoors. I'd love to see you digging out weak stations using all the available tools. Anyone can make a video of a signal that's 5/9 and that tells nothing of the receiver's capabilities. Dig out those weak signals, lower your RF gain and reduce the white noise WITHOUT using DNR noise reduction to see what this rig does. Remember this is a much inferior receiver to the FTDX-10 where the hybrid design of the 10 and roofing filters aid in bringing out a signal. Looking forward to a video with less talking and more hearing that receiver in action! Also does it pass over the 100 watt mark on a calibrated meter if you whistle into the Mic? Some yeasu radios do, some seem to be limited like the Icom 7300 with its aggressive ALC action. Thanks for what you do!
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones No. You know better than to give that reply. Most hams would agree that Sherwood data has nothing to do with real world usage. Why? Because Sherwood himself tells you that all receivers sold today are so sensitive as to even be too sensitive for their own good. Sherwood Engineering tests dynamic range, sensitivity, IMD products, noise floor, etc. and the results show that ANY new radio is fine enough for receiving signals to the extent that Sherwood data differences can't be heard with the human ear. So it's BEST to make a video under real usage (if your aim is to truly help viewers) since you are one of the first adopters of this radio. If you don't want to make a video that's fine lol ... but don't refer me to Sherwood numbers.
I appreciate your videos. I may purchase the FT-710 today. Sale at HRO! I'm interested in doing portable with the FT-710. Do you know what the current draw is during receive? thanks.
I’m really torn between this and the FTDX-10. I have the IC-705 for POTA but this looks like a good contender to replace that and act as my base station with it being smaller than the FTDX-10. Thoughts?
I bought one, deciding I wasn’t going back to North America 🇺🇸 from working a contract job in the Middle East for a year without a self bought Birthday / Christmas present 🎁 for myself. It’s sitting at a friend’s house in the box waiting for me to get back 🤣
I use a quad band Hyendfed, and only have a 10W TX at present. Get all over Europe and the US on that antenna and get very good signal reports. Definitely good antennas.
I'll be ordering one at the end of this week with the M70 desk mic
Nice choice

I feel the DX10 is a more solid performer .
The 10 is also a lot bigger with messy ergonomics. @@HamTechRadioScannerDrones

Exciting Times :)
I love your 3D scope - mine is full of noise
You have something in the house giving out a bad signal .
No, I live in New York 🤪
How come the power meter barely goes above 10w when you're transmitting 50w?
Hi not sure that was a long time ago .
What's the best handheld mic for the FT-710 ? VK6ADA
The stock one
Hi there .. did u find any differences with the external speaker?? Tnx for the replay. Luca
Hi both are good but it is better to use two speakers.
touch screen, wow
Very nice set
A good example (although done unadvertently) of how this radio can not eliminate the great noise on 20m
Cheers
signal mena?
Lol
setup the tx audio
Yes
which it better this one or the ftx10 ??
I think dx10
@@HamTechRadioScannerDrones Why?
Are you running off mains or a battery,?
Mains power this is my Garden .

Cheers
Thanks for the video! You should try the hyendfed antennas, easy setup and quite good! 73 de VE2VHE
