you should put the water pump bolt( the bottom one on the tensioner braket) in first!! That way theres no issiue with the water pump/ threads in the block. That way theres no added pressure on the water pump..
4mbrad- I read somewhere that the mounts need to be loose, then the motor mounts need to be adjusted and measured for proper clearance. If the mechanic threw the parts on, there is a good chance the motor isn't suspended in the proper location.
The hardest part was to re solder all wires witch compressor rip apart most of them melted to each other because of short circuit... i did re solder all of them everything works perfectly... but i spend almost 4 hours doing it.. maybe it was more reasonable to swap the whole Wiring Harness segment from the junker...
Hello body..good video..i will do the same job in my brother car..he has a dodge neón 2004 and motor mount are broken and this video will help me to do the job.thanks body.
we just replaced our motor mount, timing belt and water pump on my 2002 neon....but now the mechanic is saying that a bolt or belt broke and cracked/bent 2 pipes and that is the reason why the car is shaking. I told them that the car has been shaking for more than 4--maybe 5 years. what do you think it is?
Good work, to bad busted bolt cause it's easier to pull all mounts, even the transmission mount (with Jack under car of coarse), then move engine to drivers side of car. Now you have juuust enough room to back the bolts out of middle mount. Make sure to use OEM mounts unless you want to do this job again within the next year. It's one of the worst mount jobs to do and takes a good 6 hours. Much respect to you for getting the job done under the shitty hand you were dealt.
At 3:45, when you go to install the mounting bracket again. I'm trying this now and for some reason there isn't enough space between the wall on the passages side where the middle mount is and the motor. I can't seem to get enough space to put that bracket back. What did you do to get enough space to get it back in?
Middle mount is easier to remove by pulling transmission mount out , remove the other mounts, lower engine and push the engine toward drivers side of engine compartment to make room for the middle motor mount bolts to be removed from car
currently car in perfect shape... engine is mounted like new... when i engage drive or reverse i don't feel nothing.. before engine was jumping, moving...
yes it will help... also consider replacing lover left mount on the engine side..... to be honest with you it's beeter to replace all 4 mounts .... 3 on left side and 1 on the right side....
I got thonged and now all 3 motor mounts are broken! Ugh :( should I have a me Hanover do the middle mount? Idk if ill be able to do the middle o e as my bolt is cracked like yours was. I have a 2003 dodge neon. Should I attempt it or take it to a mechanic? Thanks for the video btw.
the Bolt from my middle mount is cracked:( Do you think that there is a chance to get it out from the Engine Belt Tensioner? Or do i have to replace the Engine Belt Tensioner?
Hi Alexey, Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have a question though, apart from those three mounts, does the engine have any more engine mounts? perhaps below at the back or in the front by the radiator?
just finished changing my upper, lower torque struts and right mount. the mount was a pita to take out, but through maneuvering i managed to take it out. i was so relieved, now my neon doesn't shake that much, just a little bit - i think i need to changed my left mount on top of tranny to completely get rid of the shaking, what do u think?
You still the man for that middle motor mount is a ball buster
thank you..

Hi Alexey, my mechanic repalced all 3 mounts and the engine and entire car vibrates badly! He sead "it is normal for 2000 Neon"
no it's not... maybe your mechanic installed already bad used mounts or didn't install tem correctly...... order new one's on eBay

Craig Allison Thanks Craig! Most likely need to redo the work my mechanic has done.
You're a boss Alex. Thanks for putting the time into this video

no... this is not possible it does go together like a part...
throttle body problem or maybe spark plugs or spark plug wires need to be replaced..
Quisiera ver como armar paso a paso la caja automatica del craisler neon año 1998
anyway while engine is not completely up using a crane or a chain it's very hard to do this labor on this neon, it's almost no space..
Hello body..good video..i will do the same job in my brother car..he has a dodge neón 2004 and motor mount are broken and this video will help me to do the job.thanks body.
Damn those mounts are badly damage.
Nice work with those wires and fuses. That's probably the last thing you wanted to worry about :).
yes... but it was very hard to restore all connections...
thanks, my upper and lower mounts where busted. the middle one was the cause. thanks for the information.
+Alexey Gavrilov I have to replace it still. the middle is busted . gonna be hell getting the sucker off
+Thomas Elmore the same happened to me... the middle one failed and busted both upper and lower mounts..

Is it possible to change the serpentine belt tensioner without changing the whole mount?

Take your time on this step... the engine has to be lowered or moved upper to match and put that bracket back...
If you were able to remove it... there is a way to put it back it couldn't be otherwise.... this was the hardest for me as well to put it back....
i have same problem with my 2005 neon now the 3 motor mounts. i went to pepboys for estimates damn way to much . so im still looking for cheap shop .
You can do it yourself.... i explained everything in details how to replace all 3 mounts... the tools will cost you aprox. 80 bucks...
Middle mount is easier to remove by pulling transmission mount out , remove the other mounts, lower engine and push the engine toward drivers side of engine compartment to make room for the middle motor mount bolts to be removed from car
thank's for the comment.. i know already.. i was on driveway .. i could remove transmission mount there ..
Good information, thanks Alexey.
2002... have over 220 000 miles on him...
currently car in perfect shape... engine is mounted like new... when i engage drive or reverse i don't feel nothing.. before engine was jumping, moving...
yes all 3 was totally bad...
Lol,I know.

the Bolt from my middle mount is cracked:(
Do you think that there is a chance to get it out from the Engine Belt Tensioner? Or do i have to replace the Engine Belt Tensioner?
you can try to extract the bolt using bolt extractor but it's very hard....
Hi Alexey, Thanks for the video, very helpful. I have a question though, apart from those three mounts, does the engine have any more engine mounts? perhaps below at the back or in the front by the radiator?
engine have only 3 mounts.... transmission have 1 mount ... total amount of engine+ transmission mounts is 4 in dodge neon..
or misfire in cylinder and i was replacing spark plugs and spark plug wires...

Good work my friend,do your neighbors say or complain when you fix your car on the street.
What year is this neon??
it's very very hard to extract the bolt from the middle mount cause it's hard to access... you need to do everything the same i did in my video....
they better not... ;-)
Good video thanks
Hey Alex, once you installed all 3 mounts. Did you had align them correctly. That way it engine wont be to high or to low to the ground.?
Skyefuego yes..
Skyefuego not mounts have to be aligned... the engine.... if not, you will be unable to install bolts for lower and upper mounts...
Thank you. I finally installed them. But when I'm in a red light the top mount vibrates too much. Should I tighten more
only the top or the whole engine?.. Perhaps you need to do tune up.. Looks like you have bad idle.. Does engine vibrate when you driving?
Just the top mount, it only vibrates when I'm parked or at a red light. I haven't done a tune up yet. Ill let you know if worked.
nice job man:)
don't beligh mechanic.. your car maybe shakes because of bad IDLE
if the belt is broken the car will never start...
if something i will say that it was a flat tire :-)
;-)
bullshit don't even show putting the mount on the side
