Thank you so much....Im 68 an have worked on cars as a hobby. Need a lower motor mount...shop wants 80 for part and 90 for labor. After watching this, I think I can put the $15 part in myself..2 yrs ago I put the upper mount in.....will prob be still trying when im old, lol, in a wheel chair. You did in 10 mins what they are charging me over an hr in labor. You made it look easy and very precise. Tried of these shops taken advantage of women.
I really enjoyed your video it was entertaining and informative I admire a man who will tackle a job like that in the grass. Be safe . I look forward to enjoying more videos thank you
On my 05 Dodge Neon Sxt the rubber is completely worn on my lower motor mount. I'm having a problem where when I let off my gas pedal I'm getting this slight pull to the right. I'm flabbergasted by this because ive changed my sway bar, alignment is fine, bearing are new. Could the mount being so worn cause this ?
Hey diversity2, thanks again for this video.. I change my mount myself yesterday, I wanted to ask you a question, there's a cable on the splash shield, it looks to be broken, and I can't figure what it goes to?? I think when my mount went it snapped the cable.. It's not the brakes.. Do you know what the cable is?
I'm doing the same thing on my 2nd gen 03 neon. There is an alignment procedure that you have to do on the engine anytime you remove a torque strut or even a bolt on a torque strut. That's what I'm having problems with at the moment. The measurement for engine position is good, but it runs rough and vibrates quite badly. Getting ready to do a second engine alignment with all tires on the ground on level pavement in my garage. Hope that fixes the problem.
Pros and cons of your videos Pros: quick to the point good lighting clear speaking and actually show the struggles that you would normally be dealing with when working on the vehicle Con's: whenever you jack up vehicle make sure you have jack stands under it to stabilize it not just your vehicle jack. Never Just Jack the car up in the grass and not have jack stands under it. You something more than a piece of carpet if we're going to have the Jack underneath the car on the oil pan like perhaps a block of wood. Know what size tools you're using and not take 2 minutes of the video trying to figure out which one is the right size. And know the difference between a bolt and a screw. And maybe should include that when you tighten the bolts down you should tighten them to the vehicles specifications using a torque wrench
thanks Don I had jack stands and the grass had a gravel base, there was not a lot of force on the oil pan because of the other jack, done this before with no problems, thanks for the info.
Those are torque struts, not engine mounts. They do not support the weight of the engine. Having a jack underneath was completely unnecessary. Also, that aftermarket one you got was not designed properly. The rear hole is supposed to be oblong to allow for the torque strut adjustment procedure that you're supposed to do after removing or replacing one. The bolts are metric sizes btw, and are supposed to be tightened to 87 ft. lbs.
Jacking up a car on grass , not using jack stands …. Be careful man. -put the jack on a board so you don’t sink into the grass causing the position of the jack to change. Don’t want the car falling on you. Always use jack stands. Especially when you’re using little jacks like that .

do you HAVE to have a second jack to hold up the engine?
Yes
Thanks for the video did you change the other 2 also?
yes
Do you need to jack up the motor? I only have scissor jacks
Yes
you can use your scissor jack, then put something solid under, and move the Jack to another spot, and repeat
Good vid. Just changed mine this last weekend. 2004 with 215k on it
+Vinh Tran Thank you Vinh. That is wonderful pay yourself

seems like the shop that did the alignment would have noticed this. You can. look at the mount to see if it's busted.
Have you had any problems using the aftermarket mounts vs. the Mopar OEM parts? I am in between paying more for the Mopar vs. getting aftermarket.
D-Marq hey l did not like the way the mounts are disgned. l notice the lower mount had a crack maybe after three weeks.
how high should i jack the motor up for the lower engine mount?
+Marvin Crittenden hey Marvin, just enough to line up the bolt

Hey Mohunter68 Thanks for that info, I don't like these mounts, I think they are a poor design, I here that they don't last very long.
how many motor mounts does this car have?I have a 2000 dodge neon es and don't know how many motor mounts I have
Alexis Flamer l saw only three. someone said it has 4. l just changed the ones l could see.
2 motor and one transmission
Great job explaining what you were doing and getting a good video at the same time. Also entertaining picking at Tina. A+
