Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
So first off, this is a made for knit pattern! I however did not make it out of knit. Imagine that. It worked out great though, no fit or sizing issues and it made up into a nice spring transition jacket with cotton tapestry and velveteen sleeves. This is actually a pretty simple jacket for a beginner too and I think the results are sharp. Hope you like it!
    ~Marie

I love the jacket. It is nice to know that a woven 'will' work well with this pattern.

I'm so glad you made the mistake of using a non stretch fabric. My friend gave me a "kit" for a jacket for my birthday. She cut it from some lovely chenille fabric with a gorgeous satin type lining, and included the pattern. I looked at the pattern and it calls for stretch fabric and no lining. So I set it aside to give it some thought. Luckily she cut it out for my size at the time and I've since lost about 60 lbs. So it should have lots of room. I'm going to enjoy seeing what you do with yours. (I'm writing this at the beginning of your video.)

I’m always happy watching you break the rules. It’s important to ignore the envelope and make it your own. This is a sharp looking designer coat. Thinks.

Thank you for brightening my day...
You can really see the weight and hand of the fabric. I would have skipped the pattern altogether. I don't think I would have a use for a knit jacket that style. The big switch to upholstery fabric is huge. Terrific coat.

I just adore the fabrics - such beeyoooootiful flowers! And velveteen has to be one of the best "cosy comfort" fabrics around. And they're combined into a sumptuous cosy coat. What more could you want?
I think the only change I'd make if I made it for myself would be to have some type of closures (because I hate any bit of chilly wind getting inside my "cosies"!) :-) I got such a surprise, too, when you said you were going to cut the selvedge off. I'd just thought to myself "Ooh, look - she's going to do a lovely trim like she did on the Chanel style jacket". Ever since you did that on your Chanel jacket I've been looking at selvedges and thinking "what could I use you for?". :-)

I'm thinking you could combine woven and stretch fabrics. The sleeves and collar could be a stretch while the front and back a woven. It might need to be a heavier kind of stretch to go with the choice of woven but I think it would work well. Very nice result.

That jacket is absolutely lovely! I think using a woven for the pattern worked out really well! 😊
I may try the same with some faux suede I’ve been eyeing. It may be faux, but it feels so nice and I really want to make something with it.

Love those photos on the front flap. Looks like an interesting make. I concur about the pockets being in the seam so they don’t disrupt that lovely tapestry fabric. That collar looks like it will be so soft & snuggly, whereas the tapestry fabric might’ve been a bit stiffer & scratchy, if pretty. (I prefer comfort.😊) Very pretty spring floral jacket. Enjoy!
