Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
So first off, this is a made for knit pattern! I however did not make it out of knit. Imagine that. It worked out great though, no fit or sizing issues and it made up into a nice spring transition jacket with cotton tapestry and velveteen sleeves. This is actually a pretty simple jacket for a beginner too and I think the results are sharp. Hope you like it!

Chef's kiss! The jacket is gorgeous . . . and so is Vincent.
I catch myself humming/whistling your theme song...smiley face.
Beautiful jacket and it looks so pretty with your long red hair. I’m loving that long hair.
Thank you 😁😁
I love the jacket. It is nice to know that a woven 'will' work well with this pattern.
Nice. Can't wait until the next project.😊
I really really like that jacket.. Great fit and colors..
It came out splendidly, especially for a pattern not specifically meant for wovens. Nice!
Thank you! 😊
Looks sharp, love the fabric
Given me the confidence to use thicker fabrics
😊 thank you
As usual, I've learned something new from you!
Lots of great sewing tips! I'm still a beginner and your tutorials are very easy to follow along and actually understand what you're doing! Thank you!
Very very attractive, love the fabric combo🥰
I'm so glad you made the mistake of using a non stretch fabric. My friend gave me a "kit" for a jacket for my birthday. She cut it from some lovely chenille fabric with a gorgeous satin type lining, and included the pattern. I looked at the pattern and it calls for stretch fabric and no lining. So I set it aside to give it some thought. Luckily she cut it out for my size at the time and I've since lost about 60 lbs. So it should have lots of room. I'm going to enjoy seeing what you do with yours. (I'm writing this at the beginning of your video.)
I’m always happy watching you break the rules. It’s important to ignore the envelope and make it your own. This is a sharp looking designer coat. Thinks.
Thanks so much!
Oh Marie this is so pretty!
Looks good, glad you did the side pockets. Love seeing Vincint working. x
Thanks!!!
Love your channel ❤🌹
I like so much of what you make, this is one of the best!
Hi wow you look great in that new jacket n the choice of fabric was good
Really love seeing your old machine shows u don’t need top of range machine to produce great clothing
Thankz
Thank you so much 😊
Hi the coat is beautiful.😊
It looks like you ran out of paint.....I feel that comment
Thank you for brightening my day...
You can really see the weight and hand of the fabric. I would have skipped the pattern altogether. I don't think I would have a use for a knit jacket that style. The big switch to upholstery fabric is huge. Terrific coat.
You are so welcome
Marie, I love this coat in the fabric is awesome!
Thank you! 😊
That's a nice spring jacket. Beautiful sewing job a great teaching vlog. Vincent is cute 😊
What a beautiful jacket! I love both fabrics. Great job! Love it!
Great Job! It is beautiful.
Gorgeous 🎉
Looks like you have enough ease in there you could pop one or two buttons on if you wanted
I love it! Looks great on yoy.
Looks amazing.
That came out astonishingly good with that super thick fabric!
I’ve got that pattern too. I never noticed it didn’t have a front closure! Have to reevaluate that one 🤔
Looking at it now, I think the pattern does call for a front closure, but I just chose to ignore it 🤣
Absolutely beautiful.
Funny, I often have the patterns you make in my collection. This is a jacket I’ve held at arms length not knowing how to interpret it. Thanks for your video and all your good work. Very generous sharing
You are so welcome!
I just adore the fabrics - such beeyoooootiful flowers! And velveteen has to be one of the best "cosy comfort" fabrics around. And they're combined into a sumptuous cosy coat. What more could you want?
I think the only change I'd make if I made it for myself would be to have some type of closures (because I hate any bit of chilly wind getting inside my "cosies"!) :-) I got such a surprise, too, when you said you were going to cut the selvedge off. I'd just thought to myself "Ooh, look - she's going to do a lovely trim like she did on the Chanel style jacket". Ever since you did that on your Chanel jacket I've been looking at selvedges and thinking "what could I use you for?". :-)
I do love a nice selvage trim!!! Thank you so much, 😊😊
Yes, the outcome is so pretty. I need that pattern!! Vincent looks great!
I'm thinking you could combine woven and stretch fabrics. The sleeves and collar could be a stretch while the front and back a woven. It might need to be a heavier kind of stretch to go with the choice of woven but I think it would work well. Very nice result.
Boy was I surprised when I saw the tapestry fabric. I used that same fabric to reupholster an antique rocking chair. I LOVE IT!❤️
You are so good at matching fabric to pattern. The coat looks stunning on you!
Thank you☺️
That jacket is absolutely lovely! I think using a woven for the pattern worked out really well! 😊
I may try the same with some faux suede I’ve been eyeing. It may be faux, but it feels so nice and I really want to make something with it.
Go for it!
This is gorgeous. Love the fabric and the fit. ❤
That's a wonderful pattern I did that pattern years ago and it came out lovely. And I love all of your videos
Thank you! 😊
Ooooo Marie this looks really good on you!! Love watching your sewing. I find you can really picked up tips watching others sew!!! I loved that rooster crowing while U were modeling. The animals and the nature in your videos are just wonderful. So worth seeing. I love those 2 little bitty doggies and that black cat is a hoot always getting camera time it’s priceless. Love ya girl happy weekend to. Kris
Thanks Kris!!
Love those photos on the front flap. Looks like an interesting make. I concur about the pockets being in the seam so they don’t disrupt that lovely tapestry fabric. That collar looks like it will be so soft & snuggly, whereas the tapestry fabric might’ve been a bit stiffer & scratchy, if pretty. (I prefer comfort.😊) Very pretty spring floral jacket. Enjoy!
It is very snuggly, you're right 😁 thanks Norma!
If someone was going to have success with using a woven where a knit was called for it was you. 😊
My choices are a little random sometimes....
