    Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
    It's Caftan time :) Although this pattern called for a lightweight drapey fabric, I chose to make mine from a cotton home decorating fabric. Why not? Also, I wanted mine to have more of a Nature Queen vibe so I painted flowers across the bottom. Love the result and hope you do too!

    Your caftan looks very sweet. The floral embellishment took it to the next level. Who doesn’t need something comfortable to wear around the house or over a swimsuit when you’re getting out of the shower, pool or hot tub? I know just what you mean about the need to be discreetly covered should a delivery person drop by unexpectedly when you’re busy with your own day’s agenda. 😱 😂

    Very fun Marie, your smile being the best part! 😀 Looks like you had fun while relaxing painting the flowers and leaves. A wide topstitch , the width of the facing would finish off the edge . Just my thought.😊 Glad you found your parts box.😂

    It's still floaty even with the heavier fabric. You could make some roomy patch pockets, as you suggested, and embellish them with the flower motif to match your boarder.

    I've looked at this pattern a few times but I really couldn't see where I would ever wear it. I would probably have made it in a floaty rayon. I suppose that would work with gold sandals for a beach restaurant in the evening but I already have so many floaty rayon summer dresses, I cannot find a real use for a caftan in my life.I think you're going to enjoy your custom painted cottton caftan though You're very talented.

    I have put things in that same ‘save place’, so annoying. Great video again. I would love to buy one of your great machines, when you sell them. Unfortunately I live in Canada and the shipping would make it scary and extra expensive 😒.

    Beautiful... love the unique designs of hand painted flowers... did you do any form of heat setting the paint ???

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Рік тому

      Thank you, no I don't actually heat them to set the paint. But I might have ironed it in passing to flatten out the ham. But I have found another garment that you don't actually need to do that to set the pain it just stays 😊

    Hi Marie, love your sewing tutorials! You always improve the garments and give so many helpful tips and advice! I was wondering if we could request a sewing video?? I'd love to sew one of the newer vogue patterns, V1940, a beautiful top, but I'm really intimidated by it. Also I'd love to add more coverage to the back bodice, so for it to go all the way up the neck but not sure how to tackle that. I'd be very thankful for your sewing video! 🙏🙏🙏

    • @mybucoliclife
      @mybucoliclife  Рік тому +1

      The video that I put out today on modifying one pattern to make another might help you with changing your bodice necklines and things. I can't find the pattern in particular that you're talking about. When I search for 1940 I get just random retro patterns. But I hope that today's video will help

    I could tell you were getting frustrated. Even if for my education, your work is meaningful. Also, if you sew for others, you might experience more grace. I notice when I serve others, it's more graceful.
