I realize one thing.....save up more money and get a vette lol. The Zo6 is made for catching supercars, and they do. Hats off to to all the drivers here, they drag it right.

Just purchased a 2017 z06 3lz. Paid a lot more than a hellcat but seriously a vette will always be a vette. They are iconic. Dodge comes and goes.

The Hellcat did alright for what it is. It does have an NHRA certified 10.8 on drag radials. You just need the right driver/conditions.

A modded car getting gapped by 5 car lengths by a bone stock car is hardly what I’d call keeping up.
What I like most about these videos, is that a 4400 lb sedan is quick enough that a supercharged 2-door sports car will race one to validate that it is actually quicker. To me,that says a lot about the Hellcat. It really shouldn't even be close, but the Mopars make it interesting.

I'm impressed with the hell cat. the zo6 has amazing traction on stock tires so it's not like the hell cat had much of an advantage there. nothing but weight separates these cars. but then again they aren't each other's competition

I have a 17 ZO6 and the car handles like it is on rails. My last ride was a DLM S/C Viper with 960 rwhp. Other then a straight run the Z spanks it in every category. This is my first automatic and the 8 speed is incredible. The Hellcat is a great car in its on right but it handles like a 1990 muscle car. Yes it rides better then the Camaro or Mustang but they also will run away from the Hellcat if the road has any twists in it.
Impressed with the Hellcat
On just pure performance the Z06 is impressive. But the Hellcat is truly special. Its a car that has tremendous speed and you can live with a Hellcat, DAILY. There is no situation where the Hellcat is out of place in the real world and its one heck of a performer at the drag strip. Not to mention its a $70K car. At least now with all the dealer markups finally coming to a stop. The chevy is bad ass, but to me its a one trick pony.
How is the Vette a one trick pony when it is extremely quick in a straight line, can handle like it's no one's business, and will stop from 60 in under 100 ft. You could daily a Z06 all you want, but seriously, who would want to? Us Vette guys have alternative cars for that. My 2014 Accord Hybrid gets nearly 50 mph in the city.

Not to mention gets better gas mileage. The two shouldn't be mentioned in the same sentence. The Vette is on a 'nother level.

Impressive times for both cars. However, this shows the Hellcat is no match for the Z06 in the quarter-mile. Not even close especially when you consider the Hellcat had drag radials which are good for a few tenths.
They are hardly a radial. Better than stock but its not like hes running straight slicks. Otherwise the Hellcat would have seen mid to high 10s like the vette. Granted, the vette is still faster but its still impressive considering the size, weight, space and comfort of the Hellcat.

uhh, literally everything you said is false...there is no recall for "overheating". and a new hood is not the solution for said overheating. A larger heat exchanger is, which you can get from basically any aftermarket company now. nobody is comparing a vette to a charger. There is a video here and the vette handily wins. Thing this is though, that this is literally all the hellcat has to offer. The vette can go out on an actual track and run with the world's best, and the hellcat would end up doing a barrel roll into the tire wall on turn 1

Cuz if you had you'd have found "Chevrolet Corvette Z06 overheating fix on the way" and if you literally, like, read the whole article it's a backward compatible fix that has nothing to do with heat exchangers. But it does have something to do with track days and overheating. And if you were like, literally interested in the truth you'd find that right here on You Tube is a video of some guy saying his '16 Z06 literally overheats and GM won't fix it! Literally.
Steve Prestek yes, they are making an adjustment for the 2017 year model...look up what a recall is before using the word incorrecly. And chevrolet themselves have said they would be more than happy to implement these fixes on 15/16 year models despite it being less than 5% of owners that actually experienced the problem. Not a recall, literally. Like super literally.

It's not referenced "fat cat" without reason. Doggon thing weighs nearly 1,000 lbs. more than the Z07. Anyone should know that 57 more horsepower at the crank isn't enough to compensate for that kind of weight disadvantage. Not taking anything away from the Vette. Those were some pretty impressive times. But you can't 'truly' compare these two head-to-head at the strip. Practically the only advantage the Charger has on it is that you can cram more bodies in the cabin and trunk, than you can in the Vette 😅
Actual dyno numbers give the Hellcat a ~70whp advantage and even more of a gap in the power under the curve if you see a dyno overlay of both. That Lysholm 2.4L is a monster of a blower and this coming from a C7 guy. I agree though, the weight difference is astronomical.
Fwiw, that's not a Z07 it has the stage 2 aero.
Ahh. Gotcha. So everything from the front splitter, to the end plates, to the wickerbill & spats, to the slightly more aggressive tires is referenced as the "Z07" package... Not to mention, the carbon ceramics 👌 I was led to believe that by hearing and seeing conversation on both sides of the spectrum, that it could have a few of those key elements to be referenced a Z07. My bad on that. Good point about the output though.. Taking it from that context the Hellcat creates closer to 100 more horsepower at the wheels. Seems as though ultimately it needs to undergo some sort of "gastric" surgery to help shave some weight to be a better contender on the track. Who knows if, or when that may ever happen 😡 👊

And no, stock hellcats can't run under 11.7@122-123 on drag radials... Car & Driver and Road and Track proved that, in cool weather with low DA. This was a cool day. 65 degrees. But this Z0 had a tube too. So they both were tuned. The DA was 1509 ft ASL. This Z0 was not on stock rubber either. I looked at both cars and talked to them separately.

No hellcat, stock , of the probably 40 I've seen run, stock, got under 11.7 and the fastest was 123 mph. The fastest stock C7 Z0 on stock rubber I've seen was 11.5@125.... Pretty much what the best Chevy hotshoe got. A hellcat on slicks, on a highly prepped track with cold air and 1/4 of fuel, like the magazine tested model, has a chance at 10.9@122-123 mph.

I was driving the z the right lane was hooking better he wanted the right lane so he gave me the leave i had .050 red he had .325 green. I got there first by .114. 11:27 to his 10:92 it was a good race. I got in his head on the lights
His best run was10:89. My was 11:07 that day

While I have nothing against the hellcat and it's very impressive how close the times were, I can say you are very wrong about the corvette being uncomfortable. I'm 22 and daily drive a z06 and its very comfortable for normal driving

1997TL1000 i gave him the right lane & he gave me the leave i had .050 red & he had .325 green I got to the finish line .114 befor him he was at my back bumper crossing the finish he was comming strong at 126 mph to my 118 mph good race. I got in his head on the line. And i drove to the track. Old school. Real street car .

The thing to realize here is that both cars have different buyers for their markets. Both are amazing cars for what they are and comparing the two against one another is always going to be an argument in futility. There's a reason Chevy keeps building the Vette, just like the reason Dodge keeps building the Hellcats. Superior cars for superior markets. Both excelled at what they do best, making power, and being American muscle.

z07 runs as low as 10.4 on drag radials. check out Chris lakner zo7 1/4 times.
+Harry Ferrell The quickest Z07 package-equipped Z06 belongs to Joe Castellano at 10.42. That was 100% stock down to the stock Sport Cup 2 tires. The car you're referring to has the base/stage 1 aero package not the Z07.

Nice video...I did an 11.4 on an unpreped surface with my 6 speed Hellcat challenger and Nittos...otherwise its stock.....The "autosCats" are definitely faster than that....
