I understand an old or blocked air filter can cause oil to be sucked through the shaft seals on the intake side. This appears to be the case on a friends car that has a rather awkward to change air filter. I am about to change the filter on my friends car tomorrow, after I mentioned this as a possible cause for the oil I found in pipes leading to the intercooler she told me her car had been warning her that the air filter needed to be changed. She has had two different independent mechanics look over her car yet none sorted the issue lol
They said the turbo is not an issue, but I will find out tomorrow for sure followed by some testing.
My turbo exploded without any signs of failure last week Thursday. The recovery Technician said it’s because I have gone over the max limit of the engine oil 😢. There is black smoke when engine is turned on in the morning now. Driving on first and second gear don’t produce no black smoke but the black smoke gets to gushing catastrophic lever on 3rd speed and above.😮😮😊. Sometimes now when doing revs the accelerator get sticky with loud revs had to turn the engine off to make it stop. Where do I start with the fix . Should it be a complete turbo change?
it would be great if you could please talk about what would happen down the line if you have a BMW 428 with turbo wastegate flapper rattle (interior to housing)... what have you seen come later?
Hi can you help... I have a hissing when i exelorate and a fu fu fu noise when i leave off the throttle could this be a vacume leak?? Of is it a failing turoo car runs fine no miss idle no bad response or turbo lag or smoke just this anoying noise seem to happen when one of the deisel enjectos failed. Can you plz shed some light ???

Just had a new turbo installed in my 2007 A4 and now have oil leaking (about a 1/4 cup) from the bottom turbo airflow hose area shortly after driving it -weather it’s driving for a half an hour or just pulling it into the garage from the driveway. I’m stumped.
Dear Robin. I have this exact engine and model of a car, and now - no turbo. I've had a better knowing person check that the wastegate is working, that the turbo itself looks ok, no leaks or such. The car itself has been "reset" to make sure no limp-mode or anything is in the way. For some reason I still get no boost. Is this the single point of failure now, the turbo itself (even though it looks healthy and spins ) or are we missing some easy fix? The car has little white smoke but it goes away quickly, no check engine light etc It drives mightily fine. It was bought in this condition and two owners over the last 5 years had had no issue except for no boost. (slow acceleration and such )

Hello, how to choose right lubricant for turbo?
Need some help. I think something is wrong with my turbo. Currently have no boost nor power. Slow acceleration, my turbo sounds like a zipper on a wind jacket when driving lol. Its a weird sound but trying to figure out the issue exactly. Engine is at 122k 2010 gen coupe 2.0T
Hi Tez, I would take off the hoses and pipes for the compressor inlet to see if the wheel is damaged. Maybe there is too much play in the shaft. You may need a new turbo. /Robin

I have a p0299 turbo underpressure code on my '15 Tiguan. The car only has 45000 miles. Do you think it would be the turbo overall or one of the turbo sensor/valves? Would an under pressure The car drives fine.
