Best videos I've seen on Turbos. Spot on presentation. It would be nice if this was required viewing for all Turbo car owners so they'll know the importance of changing there oil regularly.
Very well explained. It is very helpful to explain "cause and effect" with actual failed parts. Please continue to provide these videos.
Postovani kolega,
Ovaj dan 10. april 2021. ću pamtiti

Zdravo bili, "zdravo ostali".
Found this just at the right time. The presentation, rhytm, vocabulary and footage are really top notch! This is brilliant. Makes me think.. TV show when?
Nice video, it came up as an ad. I must say i really liked it. I already know all of this, but the delivery and presentation is spot on. Keep it up!
Damn. Very well explained and an under discussed topic. Upgrading the oil feed / return lines is the best decision I made when replacing the turbo on my Subaru. You got a new subscriber.
Respect from Morocco, you have finesse in explaining cars mechanical failures.
More reason to keep to keep the oil change intervals low. Using full synthetic is probably smart too. Thanks for the video!
you deserve more subscribers. you're one of the best
Wow if this is what you are like with Turbos I can't wait to see the rest of your videos.
Hi Batman, please help. My car release black smoke when accelerating or a bit when coming from a stop at a reboots. I recently replaced the injectors(4 months back).
That was excellent Robin.
Sometime on the Ford turbos the drain hole is too small and it "cokes." Drill it out with a 3/8 drill. Happens on the Ford trucks.
Very Eloquent ! It's great to see the actual examples of the seized turbo shafts, I feel like you and Bob Vila would be homies. Thanks for the info!! ::Troubleshooting a 99 powerstroke ambulance::
Very interesting of explanation of the details of problems and the root cause for a turbocharger to fail. To open your eyes and mind to prevent future issues..

Hi Robin.
Nice explanation, thanks a lot. Can u mention why my turbo car bonnet gets over heated though the dashboard temp display showing normal. Is it due to Turbo?
Hi there! You probably have a blocked or too small exhaust system, assuming your fan is working. /Robin
What abou revving the engine with system and consequently l, cold oil, how doing that affect turbo lifetime? I see some modern stock turbo engines are electronically rev limited while cold. .
Which car manufacturers have auxiliary lube continuation pumps for turbo lube during engine shut down and turbo spin down?
Do you have to lubricate of your uninstalling and reinstalling same turbo, just changing some lines?
So, is there a video that suggests what kind of oil or how much to use? Let's say the turbo for a 2018 Chevy Trax; asking for a friend of course.
I just met a strange mechanic guy who recommended me to put a 25w60 oil
to my a3 2003 turbo with 120k miles. How would that type of oil work? Do
you think it will affect its fuel consumption?
hey Robin would you happen to know what would cause oil to appear on the exhaust tips (especially the passenger side) of e70 x5 Diesel. It's deleted (dpf/egr/etc) i notice it has a bit weaker output that usually, but i can hear the turbo spool. thanks
Is it possible to have a separate oil supply to lube the turbo other than engine oil ?
I have never changed or diag a turbo charger problem as an apprentice ? Thanks Bro respect
My engine light and glow plug came on after I blew a fuse. I replaced all my fuses and they disappeared. However I got p0045 on my honda accord 2.2 cdti. Where do I find the solenoid.
Where does the oil come from? I'd it normal engine oil. Or is there a separate turbo oil?
I have a 2014 Chevy Cruze. P0299 error code with concomitant low oil pressure alert. Could it be that like you spoke of?

Hi! Robin, really love your advice. Could get more advice from you or explain my situation....
I just bought a car with a turbo, I’m the second owner, I had a feeling something was wrong with it because I kept smelling faint smell of burning oil but it did need an oil change so my bf convinced me there was nothing wrong! Right away I got the oil change! As I continued to drive it over time I kept smelling it worse and my car was sluggish! I took in the other day and they noticed there was leaking oil but wasn’t sure where, also I had no oil in my car they said! So they filled it up and drove it to make sure she was still ok! But they did an inspection and they said she was and referred me to go back to the dealer or to someone that specializes in turbo because my leak was somewhere in the turbo. I have an appt on July 11 at the dealership for an inspection but I checked my oil today and it’s black. I called the original place I got my car inspected and told them and they said it’s normal for turbo oil to turn black right away, but I’m weary and don’t want to do any further damage to my vehicle untill I get the inspection at the dealership! Please help with advice! Someone else suggested I get a flush and oil change y till the inspection even though I still have the leak because he said it’s not supposed to be that dark but he’s not a mechanic and don’t know anything about turbo🤷♀️ so I need advice from some one that does know! Please help me I’m tryn to save my car! I’m not rich🙏😔
B8 A4 only leaks oil when I drive on the freeway/at freeway speeds. I also have multiple misfires and a turbo reading under boost. That said, no smokey exhaust, no loss in power, the car sounds great. I'm working on buying a daily driver before I start throwing thousands into repairs. Anywhere you'd suggest I look first?
@@unknownip6741 I don't think so. 🤔
In the past 2 months I bought a daily driver. The Audi is sitting, leaking oil regularly now. It's my opinion it could be the rear main seal.
Turbos, like transmissions, should have their own separate lubrication system.
Being lubricated with worn-out, contaminated (with gas and carbon) engine oil is insane.
I had a hydro lock in my 2013 wrx. Would that damage the turbo? I removed it and it is clean and moving smoothly. But after rebuilding the engine I installed it and the engine runs rough and the turbo is smoking.
Hi Vince! If you don’t have play in the turbo shaft, it may be your crankcase ventilation or oil return system that has a failure. /Robin
Great explanation ❤️
Does the exhaust brake use eventually cause turbo issues
Excellent where r u based ?

My turbo started making funny sounds. And after driving for 400 kilometres there was smoke from the exhaust and no power.
