  • Free Suzuki GS550 Revival Time Lapse! This 1981 Suzuki GS550 came into my possession a couple years ago through a friend who wanted it out of their garage. They had owned the bike for a long time but it had sat for the last 33 years unused. It was dusty and rusty but full of potential so I loaded it up and began the process of reviving it.
    This video is a quick summary of what I did to get the bike back on the road so if you wish to see more please check out the playlist on the bike as I go into detail on everything I did and much more not shown in this video! Thanks for watching!

    I hope you enjoyed the video on this GS550! It was a great little bike that now has a great home with a friend of mine living its best life! I know there will be many questions on "what did you do for this?" and "How did you do that?" which I cover in the full detail videos of the bike in the playlist as mentioned. If you want to know more I highly recommend checking those out. I enjoyed this bike so much that It inspired a new GS550 build that I hope to start on this summer! Keep your eyes peeled!

    Brought back memories of my first sportbike when i was just 16. 1985 GS550EFE - fully faired sport version. Ur right, it wasnt the fastest, but i got plenty of speeding tickets lol. raced a friend on his RZ350 and we were neck and neck - so close. Loved that thing. painted it a beautiful cherry red. I saw it up for sale on marketplace recently - tempted to buy it 32 years later....

    I had a 1982 GS650E that I bought in the crate from my shop owner when working as a service manager at a dealership. I put 22,000 miles on it in 2 years going to and from the east coast to see my mother's side of the family. Also took it to Georgia a couple of times as well... great bike. Put an old "Viper" short fairing on it and instantly regretted it as the thing put the turbulence bubble right in my face. I still left it on because it looked good. Ah to be young and stupid again. I'd almost kill for it. Very little difference in the 550 series engines. Gotta love the roller bearing motors. Great video.... thank you!

    • @BrickHouseBuilds
      @BrickHouseBuilds  2 місяці тому +2

      Good memories! The 550 and 650 had the same lower end as far as crank and most of the transmission and just a bigger bore up top. You can do a 650 top end on a 550 for a nice bump in power.

    Thoroughly enjoy every single one of your videos, regardless of the subject matter! These nice little-bring-back-to-life older bike restos I think, are something special. Having been hit by cars, animals, objects flying through the air, and self-induced crashes many times over the last 50 years, it does kinda freak me out to see no gloves though, dude. Hamburger hands when the rest of you is mostly untouched sucks, lol.

    Watching these videos has sure opened my eyes to how many problems these vintage bikes can have. I don't like new bikes due to them having catalytic converters, O2 sensors, EFI and other emission crap new cars have. We basically can't work on them much. Just replace whole components when they fail, if the dealers will sell them to us. But the vintage fleet just keeps aging, and more issues to that are popping up. That thing seems to have more pep than the Honda 550-4.

      Well you watched a video and then commented on it so UA-cam and its algorithm takes that as you wanting to see more motorcycle content. Thats why you then get those recommendations. If you watch puppy videos that what it will then show you

    Are you into Oil of Wintergreen yet aka Methyl Salicylate? The stuff is fricken awesome at softening hardened rubber/carb boots. I'm using it 3:1 as a soak with water. Sometimes the rubber puffs up a little at first but then it settles back down after a few hours as the stuff migrates through the center and evaporation helps even it back out. Also -- do not put it on carb diaphraghms. They are too thin and kinda soften/melt too much, plus they never need softening anyway.
