Hey BJ, man your CB750 chopper is a big wiff or dejavu. When I was 18 or 19 I bought a 72 750 with 6 bend pull back, sissybar king/queen seat ( that I took the fabric off and cut off the sissybar and folded the cover under. My friends called it "The Amputee") and stock exhaust, and extended forks. However unlike your plan I couldn't wait to cafe style the bike. Over the years that I owned the bike it turned into a really cool sleeper/rat cafe bike. I worked at bike shops all during my youth and one of the service managers I worked with used to work for Yoshimura. He sold me a full race Yosh top end with pistons, titanium cvalves, valve springs, and a set of 29mm Mikuni smooth bore carbs ( THE go fast set up in the 80's!!). When I put that in I prted the head. I added a small cafe fairing. The only thing i needed to do that I didn't was put in a clutch. It would spin the clutch when ithit the powerband. I was fast!!! My neighbor worked in a body shop and painted the tank and side covers a beautiful midnight blue pearl. Anyway thanks for all your vids and get to work on the CBX!!!!!
Captain's log: It's been 2,562 kicks in without any sign of success. Crew morale is getting low but we will keep going at it until either we are triumphant or fall in defeat. 🤣
The best of motorcycle culture on display here. Your willingness to show mistakes and corrections, how to actually attain success, and the joy that overwhelms you when reaching proper ignition. How could you not ride a bike that has risen from the dead?! A master and his pupil, absolute gold!
Well that means a lot thank you! I really enjoyed this one as we got to show a simple mistake and fix in real time. The kicking may have been boring but there was reason for it. Hopefully it connects with people
I revived a '74 CB-750 that had spent 12-13 years slowly sinking into the ground and had sage brush growing through the wheels. It was a cool windy day when we cut her free and brought to my 'garage'. As it warmed dozens of wasps started waking up and coming out of the exhaust. A lot of them! Threw the doors open, pulled the mufflers and outside they went. I pour ATF oil into each cylinder and let it sit for day then slowly turned the motor over with the kicker. It spun just fine! Had compression and spark! One of the saving graces of that bike was that when it had fallen over the huge Windjammer fairing covered most of the tank and engine. The gas tank was in pretty good shape but the petcock was toast and was replaced, fuel filter, new plugs and within 2 weeks it was running and purring like it was meant to be. The points were almost in pristine condition and the odometer showed 11000 miles on it. It was ridden locally for a few years and then sold to a guy in Leavenworth, WA. In my 60s now, over the years, I owned 23 CB-750s( a couple were parts bikes mind you) and I wouldn't hesitate to hop on one and ride around the world(properly set up). Thank You for posting this video. Bought back some great memories.
Three cheers for you and Seth. Here in New Hampshire. Leaving in a few minutes to travel to West Virginia ~(Country Roads ~ Take me Home 🎶)~ Driving all night long. For a Nighthawk 750 ~ 2003, NO Title, Looks like it's been dropped, Out of a container by container selling people. It's all your fault. (Thank yoI was looking at all kinds of bikes. Okay the bike wouldn't kick over because Seth is using the wrong leg. LOL In all my years I've never been able to kick a bike over unless I used my right leg. Kudos to Seth.
Super excited to ride this thing on the regular. Had a ton of fun getting this bike in running condition! Oh, and I suppose BJ earned his blizzard, too 😂.
I have to believe that if any of the original Honda engineers are around to watch these videos, that they will be saying "hell yeah, we did good work!"
So satisfying watching someone else kicking the crap out of a bike to get it to start. Also the reason why the starter is the first thing I fix. 😂😂😂 Great video.
Seth’s bike reminded me of starting my T160 for the first time after many years of storage. It took ages, even after I cleaned the gunk out of the carburettors! Well done, guys…
Both of the bikes sounded sweet when they cleared up a bit and you gave them a rev. You have a great set up there with the ramp access and that workshop.
The only things that stops a 750/4 from working is owner error. Greatest piece of motorcycle engineering ever! I would jump on one tomorrow and ride around the world without a second thought. The chief engineer of the 750/4 should be a living legend in the Motorcycle Hall of Fame…oh, and nice job boys.
Great rivalry between you two. Wonderful to see these old bikes rescued and actually running after so long. Really enjoyed your outro poses - they made me laugh. Be great to see you both out on the road with these bikes when they are fully ready 👍
Those old girls remind me of the days in the mid 1980s when I was working as an engine rebuilder in a (mostly British) bike repair /custom shop. Among all the many dozens of Triumphs and BSAs I restored were a handful of Honda 750s (including one for myself, which I still own!!) and one Yamaha 750 Triple. (An interesting engine!) Thanks for the video, guys!! 😄
Auuugh. Flashbacks to nightmare stall outs in rush hour traffic first thing in the mornings on my DR350S, which took conservatively, about 100,000 kicks to restart when it was luke warm. Cold was fine, hot was fine, but tepid? oof. Loved the bike, but between the Satan himself disguised as a motorcycle seat discomfort, and the heart attack inducing exhaustion and anger from kicking for bloody ever, I was the least sad I ever was, to get rid of bike, lol
A few things… Awesome editing and filming - great sense of presentation. The sound of a 4 into 1 exhaust is incredible on the CB750. I am buying my buddy’s 1975, all original, but in need of a fair bit of TLC. I’m wondering if I should pull the stock exhaust and go for a 4 into 1. Great video.
Glad you enjoyed! For the exhaust that's really up to you. If you love a 4 into 1 go for it! People will pay good money for a stock system should yours be in good shape.
I quote myself from 2 weeks ago: "I predict @brickhousebuilds will have a grand old kickin’ time at the first start-up 🤣" I was right! Fun vid! Always exciting to hear old bike breathe again.
Great job guys! There's something magical about reviving a long dormant motorcycle. I'll be attempting the same thing on a CB400 later this afternoon. 🤞 Cheers!
Yep...... you win on the start up but damm Seth's bike sounds so sweet as I predicted!! You really need a 4 into 1 and don't forget you have a hole in one of your pipes on the left side. Two more bikes brought back from the dead.....well done guys. :)
Excellent outcome, fellas! Great to see them both firing up and as has been said before in the comments, good to see you showing us the unsuccessful attempts too. It shows your integrity. It would be too easy to just show the success. Great work! 💜
Does the chopper 750 still have the stock kickstand? Back in the day when everyone wanted a 6" over front end, we realized the kickstand was virtually useless unless you parked on a hill and used bumps or a block og wood to park on. Or you cut the kickstand and weld on an extension. Ah the dilemma of chopper life.

Two lovely old 750 Fours! I worked on loads of these Honda old fours, of differing sizes, back in the day and yes, that auto-advancer caught a few folk out, even back then. Glad you got them both running. That one with the original exhausts looked awesome, but they would look better on the more standard looking bike in my view, while the chopperized one would look better with the megaphone 4 into one. Just my personal view. Drive and cam chains sounded quiet too, good job!
@@BrickHouseBuilds If you're going for a custom look, go for it! Nice paint job on the custom's tank too. Must have been very well done to have lasted as well as it looks. Still, watching your video made me feel young again with so many old memories flooding back, even if only for a wee while so, thanks for that and greetings from Scotland!

Well when starting up an old bike I expect smoke. We had put atf and oil in the cylinders so that was getting burned off. There also could have been oil in the pipes that needed to burn off. The smoke stopped after it reached full temp but if it continued like that for a while I'd assume there could be an issue. My 75 that was seized smoked worse at first and then after 100 miles it stopped completely.
Little spray of sensor cleaner on the airbox before you fire it up for the first time of the day. Choke on. My bet. x1 kick. Mine likes a morning snoot before fire up cuz these carbs draw fuel with vacuum so twisting or pumping the throttle doesn’t spray fuel or prime these carbs because there’s no squirt nozzles. So you need vacuum or some good fumes in the throat for a morning startup
Old Honda's never die! - Absolutely brilliant seeing them wake up from years of slumber. I recently spotted two CB750's for sale here in England. A 1972 in Orange K2 with 15,000 miles on the clock at £11,750 AND a 1973 in Orange K3 with 10,000 miles on the clock for £11,000 - Both absolutely stunning bikes. Gorgeous! - PS. I now own a dream bike that I've longed for since I was 18. Only a 1979 CBX 🙂 To say Im like a dog with two dicks is an understatement...lol
Love how the individual competition turned into teamwork when the bike wouldn't start. Gas bottle hanging from the handlebars and loose battery in the crotch. What could go wrong?
Re oil. I have a '76 Z900 and I use a mineral diesel oil in it and change the oil every 1.500 kilometers. These engines as with the CB 750 were designed in a different era. From my experience using synthetics won`t give any significant benefits
So what flavor blizzard should I get? I may go crazy and get the strawberry cheesequake....mmmm 😋
I DON'T CARE! 🤪
I now hate you both equally for having done such a great job on two awesome bikes for which I'd willingly give up my left nut.

The pipes... nothing JB Weld can't fix. heheh
That and duck tape and im unstoppable
Spaghetti legs all!
31's a charm, maybe you should've gone to Baskin Robbins. :) Both bikes sound great.
🤣🤣 that would have lined up well with the bet
my stubborn BSA in the early 70's would make me want to swear...sure can relate to the sounds of silence..
Hahaha sometimes it be like that
At least they don't kick back like my BSA.does sometimes. My CB750 is also cold blooded. And I do use the electric start...lol.
Yeah no kickback on these things luckily!
The brown smoke... 🤣
It was just mesquite flavoring 😅
Love how Seth couldn't work out what to do with his fingers 😅
🤣🤣
EITHER. Don, CA. 2-11-2024.
Love how the individual competition turned into teamwork when the bike wouldn't start. Gas bottle hanging from the handlebars and loose battery in the crotch. What could go wrong?
Was definitely osha approved
Now cleaning the fuel tank to get the rust out
Yup, that's next. We typically first work to make them run, then work to make them ride
Hey BBB, what do you think of the 84/85 CB650SC Nighthawks?
They are ok, bit too crusier style for me
@@BrickHouseBuilds I have one mainly for the low maintenance with shaft drive/hydraulic compensators, fuel and gear indicators on the dash
Thing is, if you're not willing to make some mistakes you'll never learn anything new and you'll never become a vintage bike master.
Exactly, I've learned this stuff because I've made mistakes
Remove the baffles from your exhaust pipes.
No
OOPS, Can't watch the video. I will when I get back on Thursday. Oh yea. 〰✨〰
Rookies
Ah yes indeed
They did great. I wouldn't have clued in on that advance plate position.
Re oil. I have a '76 Z900 and I use a mineral diesel oil in it and change the oil every 1.500 kilometers. These engines as with the CB 750 were designed in a different era. From my experience using synthetics won`t give any significant benefits
Yeah the way I see it, modern Rotella would have been high end oil back in the day
That first bike is a good mosquito fogger!
Had to show then skeeters who's boss
Que paso con la benelli loco!!!
The Benelli is a project for later still. I am working to get through a few projects before that one as I said in the original video.
And I thought I was a dork. Get a peanut buster parfait.😊
Solid choice!
👏👏👏✊
Do you sell restored bikes?
I have sold many that I revive. I'll soon have a red cx500 available
Once you are over the kick limit, go ahead and at least try using the electric start, right? LOL.
Lol I guess he could have but thats no fun! Never skip leg day
The feeling of an old bike being reborn is second only to the birth of a child
🤘🤘
12V Thanks🛵
🤘🤘
I don't understand why you kick it standing beside the bike... I have always straddled the bike and kick with my right foot....
At one point I could only start bikes with my left leg, as my right knee was not up for the task for a while. Old habit I guess 😅
