Oh wow, that made me cry. I lost my adored, senior Collie, who also had evening dementia, in April and adopted an almost senior Bluetick Coonhound in July, she’s between 8 to 10. She had been on the streets, arrived at the shelter when an angel saw her, caught her and brought her in. She was emaciated and spent 6 months there when the staff brought her out to me and home she came. She didn’t know anything and was afraid of everything. Two months later she has blossomed into my couchmate and dearest friend who is now potty trained, can walk on a leash and come when called. Every day is a gift of joy with a senior rescued dog…and maybe because I’m an oldie too, I agree, I take nothing for granted and each moment of joy is deeply appreciated. Wonderful video.

I’m so sorry. I quite recently lost my 3 dogs within 12 months of each other- they were 14, 15, and 20 and it broke my heart. I now have a cat, and she saved me from a very dark place. I wish you love and happiness ❤️
You should adopt a dog, so many out there that need the love of a good person. I went yo adopt a small dog but now have a greyhound, she is the most sensitive, loveable, trouble free, mostly sleeps, dog I ever had. Many breed associations have a contact for rescues of a specific breed if that's what you want.
I just adopted my second senior dog. Betsy's mom had to go live in a nursing home. Betsy is 12 years old and I'm already in love with this blind, senior dog. Your story gives me hope that I'll have her for many years. Thank you!
How beautiful! It is so very sad when a pet can't be taken to a place with their owner or the owner physically can't care for them. Betsy is lucky to have a loving support system 😊
My heart just gets so, so full when I see how this woman so tenderly and lovingly care for Joey, Rocket, and her other senior dogs. Dogs help us learn to be the best humans that we can. Thank you.
Our (baby) has that frosty face at 14 as well. I am so thankful everyday for her. She got me through all of the lockdowns and that's a unique bond formed. I hope you have many more great memories with yours. 💕
It's so sad to me when elderly animals lose their parents. It's the worst thing for both the animal and their parent that has had them for so long to be separated. I think it would be amazing if they could visit the original mom in the nursing home. But am so thankful that someone adopted him so that he has a loving home. Sad he had to live in the shelter for so long, but I suppose the timing needed to be right for the perfect new home to be aware that someone special was waiting for them.
Reminds me of our Chihuahua from my childhood. We got her when I was three (1964) and she made it to the age of 18 (1982), when I was 21. In her last year, she mainly slept, and only got up from her little bed to eat, drink, and relieve herself (she still knew to go to the sliding glass door and ask to be let out). Then she'd go back to her little bed and go back to sleep. She looked just like the one in this story. Only when she could no longer use her hind legs at age 18 did we have her euthanized at the vet. As is always the case, this was a very sad day, but especially since she was a fixture in my home from the age of three till the age of 21, basically forever.
❤ 😪 I have a 5+ yr old, female chihuahua, she makes me smile everyday. They sure are packed full of personality. I hope she has a long life. Your story is wonderful and sad at the same time.
I join you in wishing that Joey's 1st pawrents knows that her/his boy is safe and loved. 🐕 Hopefully, Joey's mama will read your message and try to connect. 🤗
Chihuahuas are the best dogs in my opinion had one when I was young best dog ever, she made my life better and i will always miss her and think fondly of her
I lost mine when she was 14yrs old. She was my little sidekick and I missed her so much. About 2 months later there was a woman giving away chihuahua / palmerainian pups mixed. As soon and she was eating solid foods I got to pick her up. I immediately loved her the day I got to hold her. The owner asked me for a name and she’d start calling the puppy the name. She has to be one of the best dogs I ever had. Very smart and sweet. It’s a blessing to have one of these dogs especially if you have plenty of time on your hands. Thanks for sharing your story
The grandparents of my girlfriend adopted some very old cats. The last one they had came to my parents-in-law bcs they moved into a nursing home. We took care of her too. She was almost blind too and very special. RIP Bini
That’s amazing, I’m glad you and your in-laws gave Bini a loving end to her life. Senior cats are awesome and so vulnerable too, God bless you for everything you did for Bini. ❤️
thank you for a wonderful story. I had my Tyson for 17 years he had started to develop dementia before he passed. when I am ready to adopt again it will be a senior. 🐾💕
That is really sweet. They are so special and get overlooked time and time again at the shelters. I know when it's time, the next friend will also bring you joy.
Such great admiration for this woman and her love for taking care of senior dogs and making sure they know they're loved. The story brought tears of joy to my eyes.
Almost fifty years of rescue dogs....you realise every day with them is precious, and the key is simple. It's not where you start, it's where you finish. And you get back even more live than you give. Adopting senior dogs is a gift. We adopted an elderly neglected and abused sheltie. The rescue would not take any money for him, as they gave him a fortnight to survive at best. But we got him better and he was with us for three and a half years. The best dig we ever had, bless him.
We had a cat that had memory issues. It wasn't full blown dementia, but she blank out several times a day. Most episodes, she would sort of glitch and have a blank look for a few seconds. However, I still remember the fear in her eyes when her blanking episodes would last more than two minutes. The vet said the only thing we could do was show her love and patience. I wish we could have done more. RIP sweet Katie.
That sounds like seizures! I'm sure she was just relieved to have a support system while she went through her episodes. May she visit you in your dreams. 💞
People like this lady are incredibly strong for being able to support a living being who's mind has progressively fallen back into childhood and will inevitably fade away before his body could deliver him. Respect.
“My heart dog…If I could clone him I’d have 100 of him”. Isn’t that true, tho!!! Joey’s voice reminded me of my girl. That chihuahua voice of protest, demand, and presence😊
Thank you for giving this precious little boy a wonderful life. As my husband and I got older we decided we would only adopt senior dogs. It’s difficult to lose them after only two or three years, but the Comfort, security, and love that we give them and that they give us is so fulfilling.
I’m a nurse and we have different types of cardiac pt’s. Many are older with dementia. They behave just like this pup. Confused, aggressive, then loving. I think you are a wonderful person for taking him in.
Ohmigosh! I can't believe how much he looks like my little one, she was 17 and I had to say goodbye, we were only apart once for 3 days when I was in the hospital. For all those years. I miss her so much!
I cannot believe this sweet little guy is 19 years old!!! OMG But you are giving him a much deserved, beautiful life. Thank you for all that you do for this sweet baby...
Thank you for this positive video of the joy and love having a senior dog as a pet can bring. God bless you and your family and doggies always, you are an Angel for adopting and loving senior dogs so well, your compassion and understanding brought tears of gratitude to my eyes. ❤❤❤❤❤
Oh my goodness! These gentle little seniors have stolen my heart. ❤️🥺 Joey, reminds me of my, Yoda who I was blessed to have for 17½ years. I miss him everyday of my life. They say time makes it more bareable to live with, but I'm still waiting 😢 ❤️🐕
Seniors are the sweetest. Oh, my, 19 in November! The poor woman who went into a nursing home hopefully knows (if only in heart and soul) that her elderly companion went into hospice care, too. Sad that it took him seven mos. to find this woman, his new person, but this was meant to be as I imagine he also needed time to adjust to his new life. Now Joey looks as contented as can be.💕🍀☮️
I had a chihuahua named Yancey. I loved that dog so much! He developed dementia and it got to the point that he forgot how to eat and he would yelp out of fear all day and night. I finally had to put him down. I miss him terribly. And to make it even worse, around the same time Mannix, my Jack Russell, succumbed to congestive heart failure. I adored him. Losing my boys within two weeks of each other was one of the worse times in my life. I don't know that I'll ever be able to think of them without crying, but I was tremendously blessed to have them and would not trade that for the world.
Thank you for rescuing the seniors. You can't forget about them..you just can't. If there's some life in them...hold on to them until the remainder of their lives...God bless you
This beautiful lady deserves a long healthy life ,saving these innocent beautiful oldies , with health problems and making them happy and loved in their senior years .True beautiful person and those gorgeous little codgers.

This couple are amazing human being’s!! I couldn’t adopt an older dog. I cannot control my emotions and loss sends me into a whirlwind. I just lost my pup of 13yrs and I’m still grieving 8 1/2 months later.🥺
I love this family for taking in senior doggos ❤️ I had no idea that dogs could also suffer mental maladies such as dementia. God Bless our furry friends and companions 🙏
Poor little babies. My dad had Dementia he would get confused at night too, and had Sundowners. So my heart goes out to little Joey. Bless this woman for taking care of these little sweetie pies.
God bless you for taking care of all seniors dogs you adopted and wishing you guys the best of life together ❤️😻 I kinda tearing feel sorry for him at fist but now I am so happy that he found his last and forever home 🏡 thank you again for saving adopting all seniors animals ❤️😻 God bless you all❤️😻
I also care for senior humans and I remember this guy saying he didn't want anyone feeling sorry for him. He said I don't want their pity, I'm happy and I wish people knew that. After getting to know him, I found myself talking to my senior dogs differently. My last "baby" out of the bunch is 14 right now and I try to make her feel loved, but not pitied. Anyway, it was an interesting life lesson.
What a sweet, sweet video. Nineteen is amazing. I have a 22 year old kitty with dementia. I've had him from the day he was born, and he has never spent a night anywhere else. He gets confused, and forgets that I just put his food bowl down and showed it to him. But he's happy and sociable, and purrs constantly.
My senior blind rescue dog has brought me so much joy & companionship. She is 11 now. Had her more than a year. I love that I have given her a safe & loving home. I know she may gradually develop dementia. This video has inspired me to find a way to understand and care for her if that unfolds in her later years. Meanwhile, I take her for 4-5 short walks a day and I taught her how to play for the first time. I make her healthy homemade food. She has made all kinds of people and doggie friends and she has a gift of making people smile and dogs feel relaxed & safe. She has been such a treasure in my life.💗
My Chihuahua, Max, is my first senior adoption. He's six years old. And so far aside from getting a little too excited when he's around other dogs, he's been a perfect companion. People make a huge mistake by passing over older dogs. Max was very well trained and, exceedingly grateful for the love and affection that he deserves.
This is truly wonderful that Joey gets to live his best life in his new home with his amazing new mum and fur siblings who are seniors and just as cute as well bless him for getting confused and forgetful at night but I'm so glad that despite his dementia he is healthy otherwise 😊 not long ago i read an article about an owner having seniors but had now started referring to them as Vintage how sweet and adorable is that 💚💙🇬🇧xxxx
Kudos to you for rescuing him ! I love the idea of senior rescues. I’d like to do that in the future. I’ve already rescued two senior dogs who lived their happily ever after lives with us. Unfortunately, one only lived one and ½ years and the other 2 and ½. Loved them dearly. The most grateful dogs I’ve had I think.
I adopted my first dog from a senior dog rescue and she's just the sweetest potato ever, fully trained and everything! Would definitely recommend, you might not have them as long as a puppy (definitely less of a mess!) but they deserve all the love and a happy retirement like anyone else
🙏💖 Bless you for adopting senior dogs. Adopting senior animals is a very profound and caring thing to do and much needed too. It’s inspiring also how you respect and accompany your dog with dementia. A beautiful, touching story, thank you 🙏

Thank you for this positive video of the joy and love having a senior dog as a pet can bring. God bless you and your family and doggies always, you are an Angel for adopting and loving senior dogs so well, your compassion and understanding brought tears of gratitude to my eyes. ❤❤❤❤❤
What a sweatpea! Thanks for loving him!
Lady you are gold for adopting these two senior dogs 🐕! Thank ‘all for giving them great lives ! 🥰🐾🐕🐶♥️🙏🇺🇸
Seniors of all species should be respected and honored and appreciated.
God bless you angel. Like people, senior animals need love and care as well. You are the greatest kind of human!! 🙏🏽👏🏽💝
Awww, pumpkin. He found the best home
Now Joey looks as contented as can be.💕🍀☮️
This was very sweet, your devotion to each other really tears at the heartstrings, so glad these elderly pups have found you. 💙💗🤍
If there's some life in them...hold on to them until the remainder of their lives...God bless you
Poor sweet baby!!! Senior animals are a blessing, they deserve all the love and pampering they gave to their humans for years.
Much like the sweet angels they saved, these people are nothing short of wonderful. ❤
Thank you, Tŕish, for taking such special care of your beautiful senior companions.🙏🙂
This beautiful lady deserves a long healthy life ,saving these innocent beautiful oldies , with health problems and making them happy and loved in their senior years .True beautiful person and those gorgeous little codgers.
Such an adorable human being. This Lady thanks for doing the right thing.
My senior small dog is the same way, confusion , forgetfulness. Love's being in a home made puch-sling. She even has that same grey sweater.
You totally made my week with this one, the love you give Joey is exactly what he and all other puppies deserve no matter breed or age no matter what, bc they're angels ❤️

This couple are amazing human being’s!! I couldn’t adopt an older dog. I cannot control my emotions and loss sends me into a whirlwind. I just lost my pup of 13yrs and I’m still grieving 8 1/2 months later.🥺
😍His face looks, like a puppy!
😉He is like a 'Benjamin button' in doggies.....😆😁
Such Awesome people, for adopting him!!!!
'Many Blessings' !!!!💗🌺🥰
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Thank you so much for taking care of all the rescue dogs. You guys are kind. We need more people like you!
Bless your sweet heart for taking such wonderful care of these precious souls. Thank you!
She has been such a treasure in my life.💗
Amazing woman... with a golden heart.
U are an inspiration... GOD bless you
Bless you for adopting these senior dogs when others won't, and giving them the best life possible! 💝
My heart dog was my everything. I miss him ❤️. Such a lovely story, seniors are just the best dogs.
🌻🐶Oh wow! What an amazing little guy thank you for completing his life & filling it with love, joy & happiness🙏🌻
Bless the wee darling dog. What a sweetie.
Poor baby. ❤️❤️❤️❤️ He is so adorable and his humans love him very much. I'm glad they gave him a great life.
This made my day! It‘s the sweetest thing. How lucky they are to have such a loving home!
They are so precious. It is good they spend their last year's in a good and happy home.
Oh my goodness….both of them are soooooo cute 🥰 🥲 I wish more people would adopt senior dogs!
God bless this woman! Kisses from Brazil
Geeeeeze…I love them 🥰 THANK YOU for loving These Guys so much 💕
Kudos to you for rescuing him !
Thank you for your devotion. Senior pets are often forgotten. Your are a saint. Many blessings 🌹💕
I adopted my first dog from a senior dog rescue and she's just the sweetest potato ever, fully trained and everything! Would definitely recommend, you might not have them as long as a puppy (definitely less of a mess!) but they deserve all the love and a happy retirement like anyone else
What a wonderful person. Those sweeties are living their Golden Years in style.
🙏💖 Bless you for adopting senior dogs. Adopting senior animals is a very profound and caring thing to do and much needed too. It’s inspiring also how you respect and accompany your dog with dementia. A beautiful, touching story, thank you 🙏
