"She's never going to wonder if she's important again."
What a beautiful sentiment.
I know....my heart swelled hearing that.. and it was so sincere...
yes..exactly
I agree
She's such a tiny little thing, man... I'm glad the foster family adopted her.
God bless you for giving that precious senior pup a warm and safe place to be loved. And all of your other sweet pups, as well! You are lovely people with hearts of gold! Thank you!!!💖
Amen!
Huge hearts if GOLD! Angels.
Could not have said it better. Just this.🥰
When he said they wanted to give her a soft place to land.. that got me. What wonderful people to take these older pups and give them all a soft place to land. ♥️
They are lovely people. God Bless them for rescuing senior dogs. 🐕💞
My whole heart goes out to this kind couple ❤ you’re Angel! Thank you so very much for saving this gentle sweet innocent old doggie lady 🙏 we sure need more people like you in this world!🙏❤️👍😍 those innocent loving furry friends need our love and protection!!!
Those people are like angels for that little dog, I mean, just imagine being abandoned by some one you used to trust, old and sick, in the cold, no understanding what happened or why....and suddenly this wonderfull beings take you to a better, worm place, and spoil you with food and cozyness for the rest of your life; Emma must really feel she's in heaven!
I do not usually stick up for people who abandon animals but who knows what their situation was. We have been through terrible times in the past 2 years, lots of job losses, people losing houses dying with Covid etc. Maybe the expense of looking after a 14 yr old dog got too much for the owner. It could have been devastating to them and maybe they could not face having to deliver her into the shelter. I know she was dumped but she has clearly been loved. Until Covid struck I would have been very judgemental of someone doing this now I hope I could show some empathy towards their plight. Adopting an older dog is the best! I did it some months ago and have never been happier.
And many of these elder dogs may have just outlived their owners. So sad but it's a possibility.!
I'm sure my kids will do the same to me in the next 20 years.
@@katbar6066 It wasn't covid, it was MOST EVERY GOVERNMENT that did that to the people, not the flu.
Yes,probably left there by family members of someone who passed.
My worst nightmare to not outlive my dogs. Have a horrible family ,included pure psychopats who love to torture animals. Needless to say;no contact. And the dogs have lawyers.
In this case, the solution were as human as possible imo.
Back in April we lost our 14 year little man Ace. I could have never imagined putting him out ever. I am so grateful to people like you that will love this sweet baby for the rest of her days.
“She’s never going to wonder if she’s important again” such tender beautiful words. Thank you for saving this beautiful little girl and all her siblings, you are extra special people with the biggest hearts. ❤️
I was going to comment elsewhere but I couldn't have said it better. Wonderful words for wonderful people. 🧡💙💜❤💛
@@LisaMarie-rh5yn yes they are. But there's a lot of good people on here who comment too. So you're wonderful too.
How can people be so cruel to be able to abandon their loyal companions when they are at the most vulnerable and frail, final stage of their lives?!!!!
Rescued a corgi once from busy traffic. Tried to find owners & found out he had belonged to an elderly woman. Family was moving her to a nursing home. Didn't want to "deal" with him. They just opened the door & tossed him out. 🤬 He was part of our family for 13 years. We miss you Woobie! 💖
Sometimes people.suck..(not you) thank you for giving Woobie the best last few years of his life. No regrets eh.....Bless you ❤️🐾
❤
When my son was in college, a friend of his noticed a cute little dog tied up ALL DAY at a downtown park.....on the hottest day of the year. As night fell, his friend just couldn't leave this poor dog. We offered to take him in. He was clearly abused...and scared to death. It took him quite a while to fully accept our family....and the love that we showered on him. Ten years later...he is my shadow....and my best friend.
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh I'm crying here!!! So so so happy Woobie found his way to you and you had so many good years together. God bless you. 💕💕
@@Marybethgeidel Thank you, Mary. And "Lenny" is MY little angel. I shudder to think of eventual life without him, he just brings SO MUCH joy and laughter to our lives. All our patience and work with him sure paid off.
Adopting a senior dog was one of the best decisions I ever made. Four wonderful years I will always remember
It's heart warming to see people who adopt elder dogs. A lot of people don't want them anymore when they get too old. Emma is such a loving adorable girl and all your dogs are cute. 💕
It can't be said enough times--God bless you for taking her! At 14, I started volunteering at my local shelter. So many times, people abandon senior dogs either due to financial circumstances or their owners have passed away or even because their health is such that they don't have the time to devote to their care. Everyone wants puppies and kittens, but senior dogs often don't find homes and all too often, the shelters have to end up euthanizing them (if they're not a no-kill). It's like they've been sentenced to death and their only crime was they got old, they got sick, and they weren't wanted. We need more people like you to open their hearts and homes to senior pets.
You have a giving and kind heart. You should start a rescue organization yourself. I think you would be perfect at it. Maybe your parents would help you in this endeavor.
It’s so heartbreaking to see people just give up on these animals when they get old. Thank GOD for people like these who actively seek out these sweet old babies.
I couldn't agree more. Dogs give the best years of their lives to their families only to be abandoned in their senior years is heart breaking! I have 2 senior rescue dogs & will be by their side till their final days as they would do for me🥰
Some cruel people get a new puppy, and then take the older dog to a dog pound. That's like having a baby and taking grandma to drop off where ever they can.
Propably the previous owners couldn't afford medication for an older dog and were ashamed themself that they had to abandon her. If they simply wanted to get rid of the old dog they propably wouldn't have abandoned her near a shelter with toys and blanket.
@@nemo99nemo83 Or sometimes the relatives of the deceased owner just didn't want to take care of their relative's or family member's old pets, even younger one so they surrender the poor senior dog to shelters just like donating the old clothes of the deceased.
@@nemo99nemo83 I agree. They probably couldn’t afford to get her teeth done. It’s extremely expensive and can cause them a lot of pain and even kill them if left long enough. I feel they probably loved her a lot and made the hard decision to at least give her a chance. It’s heartbreaking.
I just can’t! How could anyone dump such a tiny, fragile little dog like Emma? Thank you so much for stepping up to help her and give her a home full of love.
Poor Emma, abandoned in her old age. God bless you two for giving our seniors a safe and comfortable place to call home
Thank you for not turning your back on her after her pathetic owners abandoned her. You two are Gods angels caring for the least of His..
Thank you for giving Emma such a beautiful home. She is just adorable - senior rescues have a very special place in my heart 🐶❤️❤️❤️❤️👌🏼
Bless you guys for opening your hearts and home, and giving this dog a second chance. ❤️
Hey I have a question I have an 11 years old heeler mix she's a senior dog that's super sweet like this one I found her 3 months Ago she got hit by a car I nurses her back to being healthy and she's fine now but where do I bring them ? I brought her to the local shelter but they held her for two weeks then I picked her up again she's on a list but I wonder if there's a better way to get her adopted
Agree. Thank you for adopting Emma and giving her a loving and safe home. I hope she has many years with you. God bless🙏!
@ Shan 1
Keep her.
You nursed her back to health and now she’s bonded with you, so PLEASE FOR GODS SAKE don’t break her heart again by abandoning her.
Omg this just broke my heart to pieces😭 So much love and respect to this amazing couple for giving Emma and their other senior dogs such a loving and wonderful life🥰❤️
She's adorable. Thank you for taking her in.
Little fragile sweet gentle Emma what a sweetheart! 💕 Thank u kind couple for adopting rescuing and giving her love!
Blessing to you from Southern Texas !!...I took care of my father for 5 years, he passed from lung cancer, left ne his house along with his dog Chacho whom we adore !!...he's 8 yrs old, already showing signs of hearing loss, struggles a bit to get up from a long nap....we love him and will continue to spoil him till his last breath...!!!
Thank you for rescuing Emma and especially for rescuing seniors. They rock!!
It’s so disgusting how many people are dumping senior dogs. They gave you love and loyalty and you reward them by throwing them away!
Thank goodness for people like these to give them a second chance ❤️
It is often a case if the owner dies and leaves no provision for the pet. PLEASE, pet owners, don't assume your sons and daughters will take in your pets! Search out pet lovers and pet rescue groups who have a heart for seniors.
@@dzglms it pretty much is the case when they dumped her outside of the shelter.
@@dzglms I understand what you're saying but why not wait until the shelter is open and take them inside? Sorry, but if you're truly doing the best for your animals you will not hide from giving them up. You will be more than willing to explain what has occurred to lead to surrendering them.
@@lallred1911 you are so on the money! I volunteer at the shelter where we see so many confused and sad pets brought in after a senior passes away. Their loved ones obviously dishonor their memory by dumping them in a shelter. It’s heartless to not try and find them a home before resorting to a shelter.
And discarding them in their senior years, when they need a good retirement with love and care.
You're amazing for doing what you do. I lost my old boy a few months ago. He was 18, he was very much like this beautiful old girl too. All of 3lbs, and tiny, had a stroke at 14 and lasted 4 more years after that. I don't understand the people that give up on their senior pets. I really don't, I couldn't imagine it doing it with mine. It's not easy taking care of them sometimes, but it's so rewarding.
How could one NOT fall in love w/Emma?! She's so precious even in her most vulnerable senior state - cuteness overload for sure!!
We had our 16-yr-old ShiChi Bella since she was 5 weeks old. When they are getting older you really savor every moment you have left with them. When she couldn’t walk as far anymore we would walk her in the dog stroller and she loved it so much. Thanks for loving little Emma and giving her such a good home. 🐾💗🙏🏻👼🏻✝️
I love how gentle you are with her.
Yes, that's how you should always be with animals quiet they don't like loud sounds and yelling voices.
me too , theyre so tender and loving with her , so sweet.
She gets to live her best life, now! 🥰🐾🐾♥️
“She’s never gonna’ wonder, if she’s important, again.” 🤗
I also adopted my girl when she landed in the shelter at age 14y.
Now I already had seniors (dog and cats) before her, as I'm always looking for the ones with least chance of getting adopted.
My girl is 19 now and still doing good. She lights up every day of mine and fills me with so much love. 10/10 would always adopt a senior again.
Lovely ! what kind of dog is she?? Mine were toy fox terriers at 17 & 21 years old. Lived well until the very end. I miss them, there were special.
@@KindCountsDeb3773 She's a min pin mix breed. She has several chronic illnesses, but they don't affect her that much. What effects her most is her disability from the abuse and broken bones in her former home. That's where she developed arthritis and needs daily pain meds for.
Awesome!!!
I love rescuing seniors. It takes that long to get so sweet. They are amazing
You guys are awesome 👏. Thank you for taking in senior dogs. Wish more people would do the same 🥰🥰🥰
This couple is wonderful to provide a comfortable and loving forever home to these older dogs who have been let down by other owners. God bless them. The world needs more people like them.🥰
As much as I initially thought "What kind of person abandons a dog who clearly doesn't have much longer to take care of?" --hearing & seeing how much it looks like this poor girl was probably locked in a small kennel most of her life makes me glad they gave her one last chance at finding a loving home. I can't stand the thought of her being locked up for the rest of her senior years; years she needs all the comfort & safety possible to thrive.
Quite probably dropped off by someone who hated to let her go. They did bring her with her toys and crate. They did not have her euthenized. Maybe her owner died and the family could not keep her. Quite possibly her owner carried her and held her a lot. She has a lost and hurt look but Best to not judge the previous owner. That girl didn't live to be 14 without a whole lotta love.
@@theresabeville4420 I was also thinking something might have happened to the previous owner. Hoping for the best for Emma's remaining time on earth.
Poor little old lady. Thank you for helping her and giving her love and shelter in her last years, with all your seniors. You are angels.
"She's never going to wonder if she's important again" Priceless 🥰
What a sweetheart. Thank you for adopting her. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🐶🐶😢😢 Her story is so sad but happy she has such a wonderful forever home with you guys who show her love, patience and happiness.
These folks are doing a wonderful thing for these precious senior pups! Thank you to them!
This is the ultimate in fostering. You can actually keep and love the dogs. But you KNOW, these will, inevitably, make room for...new fosters. Having given THESE dogs, their happy ending. Sad AND sweet.
Well, at least the people who abandoned her didn't just dump her on the street. She is an adorable little lady! Thank you for giving her such a warm and loving home to spend the rest of her days.
She must at least have been somewhat loved in her former home. But I don't understand why people then chose to leave their pup in the cold and rain, instead of simply bringing it inside the shelter.
@@petrescuework-difficultcas6581 I guess because they were ashamed for dumping her, poor little granny! I don't understand how you could do that to your pet!
Are you joking? Would you ever say something like that if this were about an elderly human or a child? " Well at least they didn't murder the child after they abused her ". Wtf?
@@petrescuework-difficultcas6581 There's a multitude of reasons; couldn't afford vet bills, increased pet rent couldn't afford, no longer had time to take care of it (like increased work hours), owner could have been elderly and no longer in physical condition to take care of it, might not have had an actual owner (like street cat situation), etc. I wouldn't judge without knowing the situation beforehand
@@ultraprincesskenny6790 all these situations can't justify leaving her in a box outside the shelter instead of giving her away officially! This way the shelter would have been able to acquire information about her medical issues, food preferences etc.
There is NO REASON to abandon your pet like that whatever the situation! Period!
God bless this couple for adopting her and the others! God led her to them. No doubt angels were involved too! Divine intervention. I love her so much!
Seniors are my absolute FAVORITE pet babies! My heart expands in their presence and I feel blessed to love them.

I adopted a 12 year old dog in late 2020. She looks quite a bit like Emma except my Herriot is about triple her size (15 lbs.). Senior pets have so much love to give!
It makes me happy knowing there are people like this on the planet 🐶
That's so sad some people have no reason to ever have pets.

Dee Marie:
I don’t know,
the fact he was dropped at a shelter with bed, blankets and toys doesn’t compute with an abandoned unloved animal..
I picture an elderly person in poor health who can no longer meet his needs, and lovingly put him in better situation.
I’ll bet there were many tears shed!
This couple is just wonderful.❤️
Thank you for taking care of these senior pups!
She is adorable! I love my senior dogs with all my heart!
My senior dachshund will be 15 at the end of March of this year. The thought that someone would abandon their senior dog, except by dying, hurts me so much. This pup of mine has made my life joyful just by her presence. She doesn’t walk as far as she used to, and she LOVES her tr-ts (rhymes with “eats”), she has only her front teeth left, and sleeps a lot, keeps me in sight all the time.
My wish is that she passes before I do. Since I’m almost 80, we’re going neck and neck to our final resting places (hopefully, side by side), and I wouldn’t desert her deliberately.
Thank you for looking after Emma. That sweet senior probably doesn’t understand why her owners left her behind.
Blessings!
Bless this couple. Good people!
Those senior rescues are so touching such special people
Thank you for giving Emma and your other senior dogs a loving home to spend their final years in comfort with lots of love.
This story is tragic and triumphant at the same time I'm crying happy tears This couple is amazing and I respect and admire them so much! Their words are profound I will never forget this story
There is such deep hurt in her eyes. I think she was kept in a very small space for a very long time. Her back is bowed and the muscles in her back legs have contracted from sitting the whole time. She looks so delicate and scared. I hope she has some time still left to realise not all people are evil. That there is love and gentleness in the world.
Man that broke my heart when the woman said: "We think that she was just kept in her kennel the whole time and got very stiff".
When my family adopted our parrots, one of them was a very slow and bad climber. She would trip over herself a lot when moving inside the cage, or jumping from perch to perch. She got a lot more mobile after a couple weeks, we let them out multiple times every day to stretch their wings and exercise. I also heard of birds that no longer knew how to fly from being kept in a cage for so long. Humans are so insensitive to animals, it's like some people forget that they have needs and feelings too.
@@rainymornings yeh, one of my rescue lorikeets doesn't not know how to fly anymore, she phyiscally can't! She was kept for a decade in a cage only a few cms longer than her body in the longest direction & about half that size in width & height & as a result she wasn't even able to stretch her wings & so now when she stretches, her leg moves, but her wing does not & if she attempts to fly, she just falls like a rock, beacuse she physically can't open them.
Same thing as you had with the bad climber/falling when trying, but also unable to jump from perch to perch & way more than a couple of weeks for that to change! A year on, she still doesn't even attempt to jump perch to perch, but she is an adventurous climber & finally her wings are starting to move a little when she has a bath. Still a LONG way to go for them to open properly, but they are starting to open a little. She can lift them up & down fine to preen & pluck under them, it's just the stretching/moving into a flight position with feathers spread that she can't do.
My other one, rescued from the same home, but kept in a separate cage a little larger, is able to jump perch to perch with ease & can fly. When he arrived, he was too scared to leave his cage, but once he got the confidence to, he constantly flew off & tried to escape & hit walls & crashed. I taught him how to fly in a controlled way, with a perch & perch on the outside of his cage & flying back & forwards between them for treats (only a very small distance, cause he had no control & had to learn it with very short flights) & very quickly he stopped hitting walls & started landing in a controlled way when he encountered an obstacle, then turning around on the ground & flying back to his cage.
Seems like he just never learnt how to fly properly in the first place & his only flight was panicked escape attempts. Anyway, after learning to fly, he decided to take off & fly into a tree outside & then discovered he was scared of heights & stuck lol. Eventually he managed to climb back down, but ever since he has refused to fly. He can fly, he just chooses not to. He's a lazy bones & has decided he likes living with me & would rather sit & watch birds on tv than actually be a bird himself & fly around & no amount of treats will tempt him nowadays. I can make him fly by chasing him around to catch him, such as for toenail trimming, cause he refuses to be touched & he can fly just fine in that setting when he has that motivation to do so, but I'm not going to chase him around just to make him fly, so I've got one little bird who can fly but refuses to & another little bird who desperately wants to fly but physically can't! No intentional abuse in the former home, just extreme ignorance of what they needed (from my understanding I think the little girl was allowed out of her cage, but refused to climb out of it, cause she was scared & I think accidentally abused when out, so I think the former owner figured that the tiny cage was good motivation for her to get out of the cage & not a problem since she was allowed out, but from what I've heard, she NEVER actually got out of her cage, straight out refused to at all times, just sat there plucking & rocking back & forward from stress - for a decade!
@@mehere8038 sometimes I want to kill ppl. Specifically those ppl. Jesus.
@@mehere8038 I
@@rattaxi9645 yeh, but honestly it wasn't intentional. It's horrific what they went through, but genuinely not intentional. It was actually a neighbour of mine who had them. He knew I was a former wildlife rescuer & not supportive of birds in cages, so I never actually got to see them, but a couple of other neighbours knew them quite well. When he died, I offered to take them, rather than allowing them to be shipped off to a pet shop somewhere to try to get rid of them (by his family when cleaning out his place). Main reason I did so was I knew that the birds meant a lot to him & he was a good man & he'd have been heartbroken knowing they were just being sent off to a pet shop like that. I was really shocked to see the emotional condition they were in! (and the size of the cages)
He was "old school", break a horse, dominate a dog, with a bird, same thing, but also it's expected to act much like a dog & perform for attention, such as getting out of it's cage & coming over to you & if it doesn't, there's no problem to punish it to make it learn to do that. That seems to have been his thinking anyway from what I can figure out. He didn't mean to hurt them, he was just doing as his generation were taught to do with animals. Makes me wonder the conditions a LOT of animals probably lived in 50-100 years ago!
Little girl I believe he got when he found her injured & so he took her in to save her life & never released her again because he didn't think she would survive if he did, so he took on all the cage cleaning & feeding care that goes with a lorikeet (which is a lot). Again on the feeding he was accidentally horrendous, feeding them sunflower seeds instead of the nectar mix they need, but again that's old school what people thought was good. The boy he got later, specifically because he wanted to give the girl company because he thought she needed it (which she did, but she needed it with physical contact ie with the companion bird in the same cage as her, not just watching from a distance). No idea where the boy came from, but he came to me biting & with a glove for doing his food & water & in much better emotional shape because he had managed to protect himself via biting. He doesn't bite anymore, I mean occasionally he will if he's tired or something & I ignore his warning signals, but otherwise he's fine on that, just needed someone who knew how to handle him properly to stop biting to protect himself.
The crazy thing is that I now have them both in the larger cage that was found in his backyard while cleaning it out & had he put the 2 of them into that together when he got the second one, because of that interaction & love they would have got from each other, they probably wouldn't have really suffered from any of the issues they do now, but for some reason he thought putting them together was going to be harmful & so after a decade separated from all physical contact, they're a mess!
It's honestly just a story of why it's important to research & learn about the pet you get, rather than being a story of a bad person or intentional animal abuse & particularly with the smart parrots, it's just SO critical to understand what you're dealing with, cause these animals have the IQ of a chimp, so they have really high emotional needs to not go insane in care & unfortunately it's common for people not to realise this :(
btw as I write this, my little girl is playing with her smart toy, where she has to rotate the front panel to line the holes up with the section that has the treats in it to get one out & my boy is sitting on the outside of the cage perches watching a wild cockatoo that I've fed with a little food in a cup on a string, so as to encourage it in & have it take a while to get the food, so as to amuse my guys. They half like cockies, are half scared of them, so we're watching while inside, with a window between them & some distance before we gradually move closer to them as they get more comfortable. Little girl is watching it a little too, but only from the safety of inside her cage.
Very heartwarming story of senior dog rescue!
This makes me believe that world still has great people. God bless them all ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Sometimes, senior dogs are not abandoned by their owners but by the relatives or family members when the owners passed away.
Its beyond my comprehension how people can be so cruel and dump an elderly lady dog...😡
Bless this couple for being the polar opposite of whoever did that to her and give her the autumn of her life that she deserves. But not only hers but a whole bunch of seniordogs it appears. Just wonderful. 😌
I think lots of people get pets without thinking of all scenarios that could develop when you adopt (or buy) a pet: suddenly needing to move, the pet getting ill or old and needing lots of vet visits, owner changing jobs and not being home as often anymore... it should not happen because pets bond to you and require commitment, but sadly it does.
I think better awareness and some education before you buy is good prevention, because now you can literally buy a pet more easily than you can buy a car. Anyway, I do believe they cared about the dog since at least she was dumped in front of a shelter, rather than some of the more horrible things people do with pets.

Awww Emma❤ Poor thing. Thank you Adrian and Spencer!
Aww! What a beautiful story! Emma is so blessed to have you two as her caregivers! What a petite little girl! Thank you for taking care of her!
THANK YOU both for rescuing these senior dogs. 🎉🎉 How lucky Emma and her new siblings were to end up being in your 🏠 filled with so much ❤❤.
Bless you for adopting the seniors! I’ve also fostered and adopted many seniors over the years, and I agree wholeheartedly, that there is something very special about knowing you’re giving them the best twilight years they could have ever hoped for. And the time is so precious! Enjoy little Emma for as long as you can! ❤️
Do they tend to have expensive medical bills? I like the idea of rescuing seniors but I worry about expensive vet bills and knowing when they she should be treated or laid to rest.
@@woodstream6137 hello, there is pet insurance that you can buy too for them and pay monthly. You can call them and get an idea 💡 of the cost
@@Angela-vy5ok interesting. We have open enrollment that offers that, think it runs $13 pay period
That’s great. Also, if you adopt from something like the Humaine Society or an organization like that, they know what the dog or cats medical issues may be, if there are any. Working with a vet may also help with decisions like what you mentioned. Sadly, we had to put down our 17 year old sweet cat Shadow who developed cancer this April. It was hard to do, I am not sure I would be strong enough to go through the loss every couple of years but looking at this family and this little pup, it makes me feel good that she has a beautiful life for the rest of her life. It has me thinking’s. Take care.
@@woodstream6137 you can check to see how much it may be for an older pet. Sometimes the price changes when they are older. Just like it does with people
Emma is special, thank you for helping her and all the seniors you have. God bless you.
The perfect match. Sweet Emma ❤️ is so adorable.
So sweet. What huge loving hearts you have. Wouldn't everyone want to go to such a great home in their golden years? Bless you all.
I'm happy for you and Emma. Thank you for all you do for your little furry family. Emma finally has her freedom with a side of LOVE.
Poor lil mama. How could her previous owner just give up her like that at her age? Bless you guys for saving her and giving her a furever home in her golden years. Bless Emma & her senior siblings also for living out their best lives now. ❤
Thank you so much☀☀☀💛💛💛💛💛💛💜💜💜👍🙏
I have to say that it’s so brave of these two people. It has to be so incredibly hard to form such a strong bond with these dogs knowing that the time you have is going to be limited. They’re doing it for the dogs, not themselves.Outstanding!
