A friend of mine adoped a fifteen year old mutt from a shelter. She was blind and had a messed up leg that eventually had to get amputated. They didn't think she'd make it through the surgery but she did, so my friend got to work in giving her the best months of her life if that's all she had left. Dog is nineteen now, and she can still run, jump and play like a puppy, has no arthritis, no kidney problems, no nuthin. She really said "ok you've been really good to me, so you'll get to have me for a long time as a treat". Absolute sweetheard of a pupper.

Because for every 1000 pet owners there's only one animal rescuer. Some people will or sometimes have to leave them behind.
@@blingbling2841 I call BS. If you have to leave them behind, you find someone to rehome them to, or take them somewhere like a rescue or shelter to be taken care of. You do NOT just leave them to fend for themselves. If you're that cold and heartless you should never have a pet or a child, PERIOD. They are 100% reliant on you and it is your job and responsibility to see that they are taken care of. The only real exception is if you die like Hachikō's (The dog who waited at a train station after his owner had a heart attack at work and died.) owner.
This is coming from someone who could've rented a place for $800/month when I moved a few years ago, but almost nowhere allowed pets over 35 lbs, if they did at all. But instead, I chose to rent the home I'm in at $1300/month to keep both of my 100 lb dogs. I know not everyone can afford to pay nearly double their rent to keep their companions. But I would be DAMNED if I would've just up an abandoned them. I would've either been looking for something a bit further from work, or worked with a shelter or rescue if I absolutely could not find a way to keep them. I also know that not everyone moves willingly or has a long time to look. The owners of my last home died and I had 90 days to find somewhere else to live.
My point is THERE IS NO EXCUSE TO JUST STRAIGHT UP ABANDON ANY DOMESTICATED ANIMAL TO FEND FOR ITSELF IN THE WILD.

If you can’t except the responsibility , then they should never even consider owning a pet.... A PET OF ANY KIND IS FOR LIFE .👍👍👍🌸🌺🌸🕊

Honestly, when I saw Larry's eyes, I felt bad for him, he has been through hell. I was almost in tears.
I am so calmed by stories like yours, John. I was in feline rescue for 25 years, and totally burned out because of age and other health issues. To know that there are others coming behind me to do this work is a blessing. Thank you. I'm in southwestern Ontario, btw.

I am so glad Larry will enjoy his golden years with the pack and a caring owner! You can see his ear was chewed off and the bite mark scars from the dog attack. Poor old guy so deserves to have a happy and peaceful life!!! He looks so sweet!💗
He is such a great dog, protective of his siblings and social as well. Very sad his previous owners left him but I'm glad, and he is too, that you rescued him and all the others. Best wishes to you and all those you have rescued. 👍

each dog is so sweet in their own way. I wish people could understand the joy of a rescuing a animal. I have 2 dogs and a cat all rescued and I love them so much. I have so much respect for this guy. thank you

I rescued mine two 8 y.o. from a roof 2 year ago. The lady sold her house and just left them there. They never ever went downstairs, did not what grass was, there are other dogs or animals in the world. It was a tough journey, often still is, but I love them soooo much. My next dog also will be a rescue and a senior one(a). 💕 or maybe I should use plural : dogs 😁

What a guy! and what a beautiful cainine family he has! I'm always uplifted to learn of such spiritually evolved humans in today's world, while a the same time, much of the population in countries like Canada, Australia, Austria and America has become insensitive, irrational and zombified.
I live in southern Alberta, Canada and there are rescues here that take dogs from northern communities to give them better lives. This man really has a good heart. I hope he is blessed as the rescue he works with many times over for their hard work and dedication. 💜🐾🐾💜🙏🙏🙏

Wow, great story. I always wanted (if I had the MONEY!) to have a "Senior Dog" home. I had to quit going to the shelters cuz it just ripped me up inside to see the old dogs there. I mean, imagine spending most of his/her life with a family or person and then get dumped at the shelter? That person or family was their WHOLE LIFE! And now when they are near the end, who is there for them? People really need to understand that dogs have over 10,000 (up to 20,000!) years of breeding/living with humans. In fact, they developed expressive eyebrows JUST to communicate with us! (Wolves cannot do that!) They LIVE for US! WE are their WHOLE WORLD! I have a German Shepard rescue and it just slays me that someone gave up on this dog (was found roaming the streets in Merced, CA and put in a high kill shelter. The SPCA in Reno got him and then I got him). He was HOUSEBROKEN already and knew several commands! Has never bit anyone that I know of (all bark and no bite! LOL!) And he has two daddies so what does he do? He actually splits the time between us! Really, I mean, he actually does that! Dogs are just amazing in what they are capable of and how they so willingly come into our lives and love us so unconditionally. I always remember that line from someone who was asked why they did not have a dog and they answered "Because they die" and that brutal honesty is so true. I have had five dogs. And every time they go, it is just so damned hard and I go "NEVER AGAIN!" but then a few weeks later I am at the shelter.... Oh, well!!

Tenho 7 e ultimo que resgatamos....é um velinho de 12 anos....todos o amam....assim como todos os outros...mas ele é ESPECIAL,pq alem de pequeno....parece o yoda kkkk ele veio com um cancer no pescoço,fizemos a cirurgia...mas cresceu novamente,mesmo assim hj ele é mto mais feliz do que quando o encontramos,e agora até o fim da vida dele ele terá todo amor necessário para viver o resto dela bem!
PLEASE adopt seniors! They are so grateful! You'll save a life if they're in a kill shelter. We're on #7 in the last 20 years, but we've loved each one and we know that we might only have them for 1/2 dozen years, or even 1 one or 2, but they always bring joy to our hearts!
