    I hope everyone who's offended by this knows that God isn't some God in the sky sitting on His throne being really strict. He's the Creator and He created us to then also be creative. If this brings her heart joy, then let her do it and be peaceful. At least she's spending time in the Bible/ with God. Why isn't that good enough?
    People have different ways of learning. Some highlight and some draw out the scripture to help them comprehend. It just irritates me when people have that "it should be this way" attitude about them. Like, let people do them, especially if it doesn't affect your viewing/time with God.
    Anyways, very pretty ☺️❤️

      i agree tht if it is NOT for you then don't do it... She is a beautiful artist, and God gave her talent and creativity... If this is NOT how you like to interact, then by ALL means, use a separate journal...God Is NOT looking down and judging her or any of us for creating in our Bibles..Lets NOT mis-represent God, and "smash the rock", so to speak.. Grace Y'all..

      Fully agree, I got my old (20 years) bible out this morning today, iv not picked it up in months, iv just been watching preaching online ugh, but thought hmmm time for a new one as my notes in the margins are so tiny, this got me hunting a decent bible in Koorong which I purchased, I then opened UA-cam and low & behold I found art in bibles 😳😳😳 I love to paint watercolour so I’m in awe at what I’m seeing here, I thought margins were for notes haha 😂 bless you all & thank you your bible is beautiful praise the Lord 🥰❤️🥰🙏🙏🙏

    i have noticed that Bible journaling has become very popular! in my opinion i see it as turning Gods word into a coloring book, i know that some have read more of their bibles this way, but what i have noticiced more is people talking about what colors and brands they use rather than talking about the scriptures themselves. i do art journaling separate from reading my bible. so i dont get distracted by what colors im going to be using in the margins. i want to spend my time with Gods word because i want too, not because i cant wait to get into the coloring part,

      I'm not totally disagreeing with you because I see what you're talking about as far as the brands and paint colors go but people worship in all minds of ways. She may just be saying the colors and brands because people will be asking. This video did get me inspired and I see it as talking to God in silent worship as I read and pick a verse to go on. I love how it is a worship outlet.

      overall I think it's great especially for young teens to get them more interested in the Bible. and spending more time around it. if your spending time reading a passage and finding your favourite parts, you'll be thinking of the passage more in depth which is better than just reading over it and not fully taking it in.

    Just a little tid bit guys, I do agree that someone could get too wrapped up in "Bible journaling" and get distracted from studying God's word. But if you say "Bible journaling is wrong" because you spend too much money time blah blah... Then you could apply that to any part of your life. You could call anything wrong is what I'm saying just because you deemed it so based on your own "rules". Bible journaling is usually always SEPARATE from someone's Bible study time. People who Bible journal have a separate Bible to do so, so that covering up words don't interfere with their Bible reading. I personally have just started to "Bible journal" in a separate sketch book and have noticed I remember scripture that I've drawn easier and I spend more time meditating on that one scripture and the Holy Spirit has definitely blessed my time meditating on God's word. So please don't be so quick to deem something wrong. Correct with love if needed, but above all point to Christ and Christ crucified. Shalom.

    Not to critique you in anyway, you are an amazing artist but don't you think that on some pages where the words are covered up it makes that page impossible to read and the only purpose is for the art not the word.

    • @CreatenCropGirlJanMcClay72
      @CreatenCropGirlJanMcClay72 7 років тому +1

      Carter Weeks not to reply for her but I just want to say that I covered some words on one of my pages and it truly bothers me but I wanted to try to see how it affected me. I now know that I will not be doing that again. 😊
      But, on the flip side I will say that once someone reads, truly digs deep and understands the words and how they apply to their life, then rarely do they have to reread and restudy . Not saying they shouldn't, just saying they usually don't go backwards to read, study and understand. And if they do, they can just look it up on their phones now. 😋
      Also, something that is very common in this new form of worship is that people have 2 Bibles, one for just notes and/or to keep fresh and clean and another to create and express in.

    • @Tazandbelly
      @Tazandbelly  7 років тому +11

      I'll admit to preferring when the page is legible. In my first Bible (the one pictured here), I was learning as I went and discovered what supplies I liked and which techniques I preferred. In my current Bible, it is much easier to read and text is rarely obscured. HOWEVER, I have a second Bible that I use for studying, so it doesn't completely remove it from access. ;)

      Guys. I get that this isn't your thing and that's totally okay. But if you don't like it, why are you watching and commenting about how awful it is? Bible Journaling isn't for everyone, but it has completely changed how I view and interact with scripture and has been instrumental in changing my relationship with Christ. My style has certainly evolved and I rarely cover the text, but this was my first journaling Bible, where I experimented a lot. It's hard to put yourself out there and be vulnerable and transparent. The constant naysaying is hard to stomach. I'm glad you are watching and reading and hope that you were blessed in some way by this video. If not? Just move on.

      Many people have a Bible to be creative with and another to read. If you only have one no don't cover the words, or use a notebook for creative works.

    Hello Everyone! I am thinking of doing a Bible journal. I am not very religious but I would like to learn and read from the Bible!
    I am here just to tell you my opinion... I have seen many people who are offended with Bible journaling. I will not be telling you that your wrong because some of you make good points! (But I think you should make you point without being negative because we have different beliefs and ways of worshipping).
    I believe art can be inspiring and motivating, that is probably why people make a Bible journal.
    Tbh as a energetic 14 year old I will get bored reading any book with plane white pages (obviously with words) and that is why i get distracted easily. I started drawing with highlighters as i thought of each passage from the book i read or when i listen to music (music is art). When I look at the art i made based off a book i will remember what inspired me to do this drawing, it could have been quotes, symbolism, imagery,etc.
    I am basically saying that if you are inspired to do something you should do it! (As long as nobody gets hurt).
    Have a wonderful day everyone!

    I think this is beautiful. There are different learning styles, and this is really good for individuals that need to do something while reading to maintain focus. As a current nursing student, I would not have survived if it wasn't for drawing, and colors. When I read the bible, I am usually laying down... this would force me to sit at a desk and focus on the word and then after reading and meditating, draw something or be creative. God's word is beautiful, therefore why not? also we offer kids ways to draw growing up even in Sunday school, so why as adult we cannot do the same? honestly people should stop trying to find negativity in everything. THIS IS BEAUTIFUL!

    I just discovered the concept of Bible Journalling and I've been watching so many videos haha -I absolutely adore this idea, and your Bible is just stunning. It's such a good way to discover more about yourself and your faith. I'm surprised at how many people are saying it's wrong - everyone practises their faith in their own way, and there is no right or wrong there. Keep doing it if it works for you, and I think it's amazing to get your daughters to try it as well. Especially for young children, it's a great way to teach them values and lessons, and if they're a little like me, they will pay much more attention to it than if they're just dryly told about it. I'd love to see an update of other pages you've done by now!

    I love your entries and I totally get doing this. As I color I meditate on the scripture I am journaling. It gives me time to think about it and listen to God speaking to my spirit. The coloring itself is in response to the word and it is an act of worship and also a way to record my faith journey. I understand there are a lot of negative nay Sayers but I'm sure their response is similar to before it was "acceptable " to write notes in your Bible. Growing up that was frowned upon. Then our pastor told us he did it because it is his bible and God wants us to use it. Marking it is a way to show the impact it has onus.

    Beautiful, thank you for sharing. We have in the west several bibles in our homes sitting on shelves, I don't see why one cannot be used to be creative and share the word of God with others. A Jewish friend just told me last night that she would like to take a bible journalling class. Wouldn't it be great if she got to read and hear the word with her heart and come to know the Lord. We need to try not to judge. We are to judge right from wrong, it wouldn't make sense to not judge crime, morality...but we need to know what the intention of the heart is and to say we know is wrong in this situation, only God knows.

    Beautiful, this would make a wonderful Bible study tool, for special needs, learning disability and those in recovery from trauma/mental health recovery. Art is very well known in the special needs/mental health and other disabilities as a way of healing and therapy. We must never hold any one back as what may be of huge benefit of creativity, healing and growing in our own personal relationship with God. Also as a form of pastoral care, we learn Gods scripture not just through words but also, through colour, and our own creativity. Not all disabilities are visible, so this is def must have tool for the most vulnerable in Christs flock ( indeed for everyone) xx

    Hi Kristin, I guess that was a snarky comment and I truly apologize. I just noticed that in your video there were some pages where there was so much art that you couldn't read the scripture. Your art is stunning. I should have let it go and respect what you are doing. Having said that I am one of those people that cringe even when highlighting in my Bible (or any regular book for that matter) I am in many craft groups including Faubonichi groups and planner art. So, I use those things as a creative output and read the scripture in my Bible. Again, I apologize.

    • @Tazandbelly
      @Tazandbelly  8 років тому +2

      +Lesa P No apology necessary. I completely understand that not everyone is going to have the same thoughts on the matter and I always appreciate comments that are respectful and kind (yours was!), even if they disagree. This particular Bible was my first attempt at Bible Journaling and my art evolved a lot during the process. I tried out many techniques and supplies and it has taken quite awhile to find my style. My current Bible is much "calmer" and I think it's so much more me. If you're on Instagram and would be interested to take a look, you can find me at @tazandbelly.com

I did see that someone share about the wrinkling of the page if I remember right it was to take a cloth and dry iron and iron the page, I would put some paper under the page and not have it to hot. also on your new Bible can you tell me where you got your cover? That looks perfect for journaling Bible. Thanks so much, Shalom

    my question mostly is... are you still able to read your bible after these extravagant artistic pieces in the Holy Book.?

    • @Tazandbelly
      @Tazandbelly  6 років тому

      No need to be passive aggressive, but I understand your concern. I have since adopted a slightly different style and rarely cover the words (or at least not in a way that renders them illegible), but at the time I was still trying to figure out what I liked and what processes and supplies worked best for me. I always use a study Bible in conjunction with my journaling Bible, so I am able to read any passages that might be covered up. I know this isn't for everyone, but it is a genuine expression of worship and I don't regret a single page that I've created since I first discovered Bible Journaling.

    I love your work! I'm a person who is new to journaling in the since of painting and markers, etc. I was brought up in a Baptist church... and was taught that though a bible isn't something to throw around, lay on the floor, generally trash, it IS to be used as a tool to learn about our Lord and be closer to Him. We were encouraged to make notes in it!
    My husband could not believe his eyes when he first saw me WRITE in my bible! I still remember the look on his face when he asked "Darlin, what are you doing writing in your BIBLE???"! He now thinks nothing of it, although he doesn't write in his... not yet anyway!
    I've always written a comment or so, the name of the pastor and date of a service. But, now? I want to do this. I bought a journaling bible but wish the font was a bit larger. it's 7.5 and I can read it, but? What font size is in your bible? it seems a little larger.
    Thank you so much for sharing your work!

      Mine is 7.5, too. You get used to it!! I'm so glad you're this excited. Please check back and let me now how it's going. I also post daily on Instagram if you're over there. @tazandbelly

      I've seen another artists work and she treats her pages before painting, etc. do you put anything on the pages before drawing and painting?

On a different note may I ask where you got the gold polka dot cover for your newer Bible. Thank you for sharing this wonderful video.

    I love your Bible! So inspiring. You mentioned that you have a paper clip for your nursery number. Do you use this as your main Bible? I have had so many people tell me that my Journaling Bible is not to be used as my main Bible, but I really want to use it as such, lol.

    • @Tazandbelly
      @Tazandbelly  8 років тому +3

      My journaling Bible is DEFINITELY my main Bible. I think different people do different things, but I feel so much more connected to this one now and rarely leave it at home. If I need access to a scripture that I can't see, I just use the app instead. I hope this helps!!

      Not sure if you were being genuine here or passive aggressive, but I'll take the bait. It's a journaling Bible made specifically to provide space in the margins for note taking or artistic journaling. I have a separate study Bible that I use also, but this is more of a form of worship than anything else. Hope you can see that my intentions were good.

    This is the very first bible journaling video I've watched, and I love your work! Your colors are vibrant and beautiful, and I really enjoyed this! Can't wait to try this! Do you typically start at the beginning of the Bible and work your way through it, or do you follow another way to get through the entire Bible? I am looking at getting the Summer Garden Crossway Bible. It looks like Crossway makes some very nice quality Bibles!

    • @Tazandbelly
      @Tazandbelly  8 років тому

      +Retro Christmas Chic I love my Crossway Bible! It is very well-made and perfect for journaling. I will warn you that the font size is smaller than traditional Bibles to allow for the wider margin, but I haven't had any problems reading it. I do not illustrate chronologically, but do my regular devotion or Bible study and illustrate pages as I go. Sometimes that is every day and other times only a few days a week.

    One more quick question! When you use acrylic paints, what kind of marker do you use to journal over the acrylic? I have already been using watercolor and learned quickly that writing over watercolor does not work out so well. Yet, when I write on the paper first and watercolor over it, my ink gets cloudy. What type of pen works best over the watercolor?
