Wow that's a really crazy palette, but cool how compact it is. Love this review though - very in-depth and you covered pretty much any question I had. Thanks for all of your work Lindsay!
Thanks Lindsay. I got tge fold out one and a fan one. . I use them for cards and I'm taking one camping this week. Great when you don't want to risk dropping a metal pallets into a lake. And they are non toxic so if it falls in I won't loose sleep over killing the wildlife.😁💜
One thing I LOVE about water brushes you are always painting with clear water. Some of my most vibrant paintings have been done on vacation with waterbrushes. It took me quite awhile to figure out why. I try to use a jug of clear water but I usually rinse at least once in my clear water jug. Lol. Lol
Excellent review and I do mean review! So many review videos are glorified unboxing videos! You created a comprehensive review of the palette and I truly appreciate your efforts! Thank you! This is a very nice watercolor palette for traveling or Plein air painting. You are so talented and a lovely young lady, thank you for sharing your expertise. Please take care, be safe and have a lovely day.
I kinda like this one better than the others. Has a bigger mixing area and, speaking for myself, would really only need the left side open for painting. If they made the pans moveable, so you can put all your faves on the top tier, it would be perfect! Now I'm wondering if I could pry them up haha! ;D Thanks for another awesome review!
It is 2024 now and I finally found one of these pallettes (yellow case in different brand name) on Amazon after 2 years of them being out of stock. It is on the way and I'm giddy like a schoolgirl with anticipation. I have one of the 42 color fan pellets and actually was shocked at the quality. These little Superior pallets are far better than most of the junk on Amazon. I too had a transistor radio. I was probably in my teens when you were born so if you feel old - well I feel older. Maybe after my cataract surgery I'll be able to read the fine print. Great review as always.
Thanks for the review, Lindsay. These might actually be what I'm looking for. BTW, I know you have a video about the little chive plant, but I'd love to see a video recreating the rose. It's nice to see something so soft and pastel looking. Thanks again for everything you share!
I think clear nail polish might help retain the labels. And I had one of those radios. I used it mostly when I was doing yard work. Definitely not a whipper-snapper. LOL
My grandmother gave me and my sister transistor radios in the 70's and we used them constantly, at least that first summer we had them. My poor parents must have really gone through some batteries. We had the best music. Probably every generation thinks their music is the best. Not really certain on that though, I caught my kids listening to all kinds of things, Sinatra, Pink Floyd etc
I agree, Wronda Gustafson, nail polish would work well. Also clear packing tape. I too had one of those radios -- It was the first prize I ever remembered winning. Long, long, long time ago. :)
That's such a good idea, ideal to for handmade watercolour pans with colour name labels on which you always think you'll remember once paint has removed the name but never do!
If I were to go kayaking and take this along, I'd probably ask my younger sis for some scraps of the neopren fabric she uses to sew backpacks and sew a bag from that which also fits that sketchbook of yours 🥰 That way it'll be a bit more protected from water :)
I just came in from weeding (ugh!), and as always, my AM/FM transistor radio kept me company. I bought it about 5-6 years ago. Can't weed with one! Loved the Mama Mia video,, btw!
I'm glad you reviewed this. I put it in my cart when it first came out. You always have genius ideas that I wouldn't think of. The sponge on the bags string is great!
@@steffy2 Crayola does it too, they know people trust them so they made this “premium” line to sell these crappy pencils and markers. It is really weird though you think they would copy better brands.
This is a popular packaging design on alibaba that companies can white label. It's not that arteza is premium but they advertise so much that they are familiar and people like what is familiar. That's why people eventually give in to trends (skinny jeans, bell bottoms) because the more you see something the more you like it (then it seems its all brands make until sales slow and they need to train us to like something else.
The advertisement on the front really reminds me of Arteza, wonder if it was the same hired for that. I think it is cool because when you run out or maybe don’t like certain ones you could put thin layers of a non honey and non crack out Winsor & Newton wc like DaVinci or DS and others. I really like even the idea of buying it for just that. Plenty of space to even repeat favorites. Very cool. Personally I would remove the colors on the right so that would give a lot of space for favorites that could be organized. Very very cool!!
I have had this exact same one but made by Superior for over a year now. There is a 36 a 48 and a 60 color version… the 48 version has a large swivel out second mixing tray!! I really enjoy these paints very much truthfully!! I can’t wait to see your review!!!
I saw your chives video the other day and I had this on my Amazon wish list. After that painting I knew it was what I wanted for my travel bag. I got it in the mail yesterday and it did not disappoint
Great review, Lindsay! I can't handle all of these adorable novelty palettes :). They're so cute! I would hate to use them and make them grungy. I could line them up and use them for decoration, though. Or I could buy 2 of each! Use one display one. They're not that expensive so I'm going to do it! YAY! Tfs.
A foldable phone stand/holder with the loop stand could be added to the back of the older version and that would provide a way to hold the palette while painting. Great review!
Thank you for this! I've been putting off getting a travel palette until I saw one I couldn't live without. This is the one because it is the cutest and more than enough for me to practice with.
I think I am pretty close in age to you. I remember having a transistor radio and taking it out with me to rake leaves or when I would go ride my bike all over. I really like the packaging of that palette. I'm glad you also swatch and compare to the other palettes. For less than $20, it looks rather nice.
Thank you Lindsay!! Such a fun palette and a great amount of prepped colour mixes too. Its perfect for cards and journal fun! I love your painting - so pretty! ❤️
Oh goodness. Just over a week ago I decided that I will buy no more art supplies until at least Christmas. Now you come with your review, and the first thing that I do is to check whether Amazon is selling this palette in Germany right now, lol. Edit: Just looked through all the comments here. Glad that I am in good company.
Do love the decent pigment these Artsy fan paints contain. After much use many colors start to curl up & couldn’t reach last top colors 😒. So go my rose pruning clippers & “hard plastic”!! Cut each fan piece off & now in lil box glued to bottom! Ty for this video as the pastels never used!
I have one of the fan ones, I thought it was fully dry but apparently not. Yellow fan part got stuck to the top of the palette and most of the yellow ripped right off the palette lol. The cellphone shaped one looks more useful! I'll have to keep an eye on them and see if they go back in stock.
I was having trouble getting my UA-cam videos to load so I wasn't looking directly at the paint box at the beginning and thought you were going to be showing an Arteza paintbox. All the same colors, etc. and the brand name starts with an A. The last time that I remember seeing a transistor radio was when I was in college in 1973-77. I can't remember if the walkman's came out next or the boombox as I didn't have any of those.
If you take it in your kayak: 1 tie a balloon to the bag in case the kayak tips over or you drop the palette. 2 cut a yellow sponge to the same size/shape of the insert and use it instead of the insert.
If this YT thing doesn't work out, you could be a product designer for them, given that you know all the products! Also, transistor radios! Loved my round Panasonic (I think) bright yellow radio in the 70's. It went with me everywhere.

hi Lindsay, You're the expert in this area. I don't know how to spell palete, pallette, pallete, palette palett etc. When it comes to paints, or those wooden platforms that fork lifts move around. Are they spelled the same, different? Which is which, I have a "thing" about wanting to spell something correctly. How many L's, how many T's and is there an E at the end or not?
I purchased one of these little palettes. I liked the size of it. But the quality of paint left more to be desired. After one use the thin slip of paint in the micro well, dried into flakes and curled up sides, making it impossible to close without breaking the curled up edges. Not as user friendly as you might think.

No, sorry but they look a lot like the Master's touch or Doodlehog 48 sets which you can get for $20 on sale, it's fine for $20 but not $40 in my opinion. I'd recommend the Pretty Excellent set of $36: amzn.to/3waTpWu or the doodlehog 36 (better paint than the 48 set for some off reason) amzn.to/3y6DdHi or the Artsy set of 24: amzn.to/3y8Zfcl or this one from MIYA amzn.to/3jpgYs2 (but I don't like the mixing area on that one as much, you will want a separate dish to mix) The pretty excellent is still my top piock for a budget friendly watercolor but they are all good potions especailly because everyone likes differnt styles of palettes. Good luck!
Lindsay, I notice the packaging is very similar in design to Arteza packaging. I’ve noticed this in a lot of budget paints. Would this mean the paints are the same, or are they simply using the same design company? Thanks. This pallet looks fun.
I think they are using a similar package so that people who have offhandedly seen Arteza products will assume it’s the same brand and buy them. It’s a way to prey off the trust that people have for another brand.

It does look like the Arteza watercolor box, totally. Arteza has become such a famous name for supplies, it seems that other companies want to get a piece of that cake as well and hope to snatch some Arteza customers that way.

I love that long, skinny sketchbook. Where did you get that and what brand is it? I have one of those fan novelty paint sets, but I think I paid $36 for it, bc I didn't know any better. But for this price, I might have to get a couple for gifts... thank you, Lindsay. I want to paint your frog this weekend.

@@thefrugalcrafter Thank you.
What a wacky cute palette, I wish they had an empty version
I swear on everything, I'm 38 and my mom lives with me and she actually has and uses that exact little radio w the leather
Wished they'd sell these empty so you could fill with your favourite tube colours.
Cute paint palette.
I have a question:
Target just came out with the Mondo Llama in the craft section.... do you happen to know anything about the alcohol markers they have a big pack that's 40 count for $25 which I don't think is a bad by at all I just wondered if you knew anything about the quality ...thanks so much🙂🇺🇸🙂
I haven't seen them so im not sure but I bet they are similar to the bullet and chisel sets on Amazon.
Please tell us if your Mom still has the transistor radio just as you described. I wonder how many frugalites are commenting on if she still has or not. LoL. Take care. Becky B
I wonder if anyone has tried to refill those pans after you use up a color.
I plan to refill mine with QoR watercolor
Don’t throw sponge away. Will clean your mixing palette wherever you are
It’s unavailable Lindsay !!! Seems like it’s already sold out !!🤪
What!?! Well, they will probably come out with an even cuter design next month lol!
Keep trying. Sometimes they come back.
The Artsy box looks like the Arteza boxes lol
I noticed that too. A lot of newer companies are using similar branding to Arteza
It does look like the Arteza watercolor box, totally. Arteza has become such a famous name for supplies, it seems that other companies want to get a piece of that cake as well and hope to snatch some Arteza customers that way.
The box looks like Arteza. 🧐
The packaging looks like one from Arteza
Yeah I am guessing that that sponge is just non-recyclable packaging.
Nope. The ad says includes a sponge.
I think the case should be black. The color is nice but as a messy and involved artist the case would be extremely colorful.
I got paint all over mine last night. It’s plastic and it wiped right off. Super thankful because the orange was not a nice touch
@@marym5759 I'm so sorry that happened to you but I'm glad its plastic. :)
