    Thanks for this review ,I have a superior fan palette of 42 colors and i did my lightfastness test for four months according to handprint.com .The temperature was over 42 C and the only lightfast colors were (C04,C06,C11,C13,C14,C16,C17,C22,C26,C27,C33,C34,C35,C38,C39,C40,C42,C43).C36 which is prussian blue showed very little fading and when I put it in darkness it recovered its original color.The white turned into a cream color . I wish this was helpful

    Jay!! Another fantastic review chock full of information. You never ever cease to impress me with your knowledge. So I have to tell you about Superiors newest set, it’s called the Superior Color Cool and comes in 18,36,48 and 60 colors and each includes regular colors, pastels AND Metallica!! Plus at least 1 mixing palette, the 48 color has 2 mixing palettes and they all fold open and closed like a book as well as use slide out/swivel panels to expand out to show all of the colors it’s truly ingenious you HAVE to review it!!

    Peer pressure, lol. Superior has a watercolor watch on sale at Amaon US under the brand name Tinge. There is a 12 and a 24 set. I bought the 12 set which included 6 extra colors, i like it, its small and perfect for plein air. I thought about getting the 24 set but its measurements matched the size of a standard 12 color tin and i wanted it for a small kit.

    • @AllanJayQuesada

      I saw that too at AliExpress. Wow, that's really an interesting set. Didn't you have any issues on its built quality and fitting? I think one of these days, I'm gonna have one too. I also want a smaller set for it not to look awkward on the wrist of a short guy. Haha☺️🎨

      @@AllanJayQuesada Well I paid 16 dollars for it so its not exactly Swiss made precision, but its sturdy enough for what it is. After I use up these colors im going to refill it with artist grade paint, but for now, its fun. My friend just ordered the larger set so we will mix and match colors and have a few extra pans.

    Nice boxing 🥰 But I really wonder why one would make a black palette 🤔? Doesn't seem too sensible a choice, especially not for an art material that's supposed to be mostly translucent ^^' I'd probably chose the half-pan set, not only because I think that's easier to handle (seriously, one has to really dry those pans before folding that back together, has one not? Because otherwise I'm pretty sure one ends up with quite a mess. Especially if one's got a tendency to use really wet, runny colours, which I think is kind of to be expected when using WATERcolour ^^'), but also because one gets more colour for one's money. I also really don't mind mixing, so having less different colours but more of those that are in the set sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

    • @AllanJayQuesada
      @AllanJayQuesada  4 роки тому +1

      Yes. Hahah. Black is weird. But the shallow pan itself for the black palette is still white.. still, the white one is a better choice. I would also personally choose the half pans set too. Economically wise and the palette design is also more standard and not as risky as this.. 🙏🏻🎨☺️

      At least they didn't go with pink ;) In some cases, I actually think it's at least somewhat useful if novelty sets come in a different packaging from the regular paints :3 Some of those pocket sets from Van Gogh come in different coloured boxes, like the metallics come in black box, too. I always know which of those to grab, when I rummage through my watercolour drawer ;)

    The design of this palette is really interesting! I wish each pan of color wasn't as thin though, like imagine if each pan were to be the size of a ganzai tambi pan and filled to the brim? But ofcourse the set would have to have lesser colors to account for the height of the palette once its folded back "closed" 🤔 Thank you again for the very detailed review sir! 👍👍

    This was one of my very first watercolor sets. I honestly don't like it very much - there's nothing terribly wrong with it, but I paid more for it than I should've and it wasn't worth it. It can definitely be a fun novelty thing if bought for a good price though - the paint is serviceable, and I do love weird palette designs.

    Your sample paintings are just gorgeous!!! Your quick sample paintings are often times more appealing to me than some professionally finished pieces I see posted all over the internet. You are an incredible artist and I love watching your watercolor reviews. I do have a quick question tho; in your opinion do you think there is a difference between White Nights professional lines tubes vs pans? I mean do you think White Nights' tubes are the same formula as their pans? I am interested in purchasing some white nights paints but I cant decide if I should get the colors i want in tubes or pans. Generally with my other professional watercolors I prefer getting tubes and putting them in my own pans. If you (or anyone else reading this comment) have some advice or an opinion on White nights tubes vs pans please let me know, if you have the time of course. Thanks so much. I get so excited when i see you posted a new video...you are one of my favorite UA-cam artist. Take care and have a nice day. Much love♥️♥️

      Hi Nadeane. Thank you for the kind words. Such encouragements keep me going on this channel. 🎨🙏🏻
      Both the White Nights Tubes and Pans are great investment. But i think, there is a difference in formula. I have tried putting White Nights tube paints to pans and it almost never dries. It took me 3 weeks before i could confidently bring them in travels. It reminds oF the honey based Sennelier which also remain sticky when poured in pans. But unlike Sennelier, White Nights tube paints have more uniform and sticky texture. Although the pan paints of White Nights remain moist too, they remain travel friendly. With the exemption of one color in pans wjich the Cerulean PB35 which at some point sort of melts (maybe brought by high temperature and humidity which is always the case in Philippines). If you're mainly using them in the studio for large paintings, i think tubes are jot badm but if you plan on carrying them on travels, i think the pans sets are better. But what's good about the pans set of WhiteNights is that theyre full pans so, they're brush friendly and is also suitable for bigger paintings. ☺️

      @@AllanJayQuesada Thanks for responding. I live in Tucson Arizona in the United States, we have like zero humidity, which basically means I dont really have to worry about paints getting too goofy for me to paint plein air...I have both Sennelier and M Graham and living in Arizona they dont seem any gooier than my Daniel Smith or Van Gogh paints, so yea thats pretty much the only positive living in such dry heat 12 months out of the year...lol...I was more wondering if the White Nights pans and tube watercolors looked and behaved the same on paper? Like do the White Nights tube watercolors look just as saturated and transparent as its twin color in the pan, do the tubes behave the same way the pans do on paper? Etc..Im sure you are super busy- so sorry to drag this out...Thanks so much for the response, info and advice. That's why I thought buying the half pan set would be good, because of the better price. But the half pan set has a bad quality. The paints are not the same. I can't really comment credibly on the 58 colors as i dont own that set, but my reasons for getting the 38 are: that i already have lots of paints; i find more very similar colors in 58; and there are more pastel colors in 58 which i dont use really. If you're fond of many colors and is not adventurous to mix colors, the 58 colors is the best treat. 🎨☺️
