THIS EPISODE
In this episode Stew has a disaster with fuel payments where it takes over 180 euros extra in payment than it should of which causes some anxiety. At the start of this video were starting to have one eye on going back and so we complete the Cherbourg Peninsular and take a stop off for a distant photo shoot of Mont Saint-Michel before heading towards the picturesque Duclair for the night. Following a great night at the free aire we have a walk around the town before heading towards our final parkup. Stew has his fuel disaster as we drive towards Calais and he immerses himself in some retail therapy to try to get over it.

Hi Stew & Jane about that rant - not only do you spend money and coment where you stop and enjoy the vacilities that are provided. You are UA-camr's and through that activity you encourage hundreds of other people to visit those places you praise and discuss who may spend lots and lots of money because of your videos. Remember your videos are freely advertiseing those positive places you visit. That could be very valuable to towns by increaseing many tourists to visit them as well as increaseing visits by "the power of word of mouth."

This vid woke me up a bit. Occasionally I used to work in the next town, Le Trait, spent many happy off duty hours cycling along the Seine,usually to point du Normandy, have a Jupiler or three then cycle back. The tides rise and fall and the speed of the river make it a dangerous place for a inebriated person. We lost 2 chief engineers to that river in a short space of time so alcohol got really stamped on then!
Yeah we noticed the fall and rise and the arc the ferries have to take to counter the current…… so yes I can see the dangers especially with alcohol - once you’re in ….

Mont St. Michel will not disappoint, it is beyond words. I do recommend taking the horse and buggy out from the carpark, a beautiful trip. There is a helicopter buzzing around at times and it is to take people up and back down that actually get to the stage they are completely beaten by the climb, its called The Dragon! I got just over half way, but I was waiting on a knee replacement so I was happy enough lol. My wife and son made it the whole way and the pictures are just stunning. I think it would be amazing to stay overnight in one of the hotels, with the tide in and just cut off........ Cannot wait for your Brittany trip!
It looked magical from a distance and certainly your description excited us and I like the tip on the horse carriage ride as the car park is some way away
May do a south trip next January so we may go that way

Aaah yes. I too had a sinking feeling over using a card at an automatic fuel pump. It took 150€ even though I only dispensed 50€ diesel, I did take a receipt however and carefully watched the bank app. The unused part of the payment was refunded in about 7 working days. It was a bit of a worry but since Asda and tesco both do the same over here I wasn’t bricking it! Mind you that was the least of my worries on that day!
Yeah my heart sank when I lost at the time two lots of 120 euros - it wouldn’t of been so bad but it took 30 days to get refunded so I thought I had lost it

We play Rummikub competitively too, but don’t keep actual scores as too dangerous! 😂 We have the travel set, easier to store and play on small tables.
Yes it gets competitive- we bought 1 min egg timers to help level so we use them once a player has put down and then starts thinking
@@getawaygeese ooh One minute timers, I never knew they existed. I’m having one of them. I play on the app and have the time set to 30 seconds so can be quite fast. He doesn’t practice and takes quite a long time strategising. I’m def going to win on the time. 💪🏻
@evelynspanner2963 ok suggest you buy three but only start them when the person has put down and then starts thinking it will transform your game ie they put down what they have already thought but then 1 min when they are starting to think
Hi guys. Entertaining vlog as usual. We live in France and have come across the debit card issue at fuel stations. The french debit card system works similar to credit cards and all balances out at end of month. I’d advise using a credit card at 24hr stations which overcomes the issue. 👍🏻
Thanks that’s a great tip for our next trip - I haven’t say I wasn’t convinced I was going to get my money back as couldn’t contact U easily but it righted itself several weeks later but a horrible feeling - thanks for watching

Great vlog guys. If you got a Critair sticker then the speeding fine will likely find its way to you. Thats what happened to me. When you get the sticker you give your full vehicle details and thats how they have you on file. Ironic thing is ive never had to use the critair sticker! Keep those vlogs coming!

Oh bollocks! We’ve just been 4 weeks driving around France and Switzerland and 3 days before coming back there was a flash from a hedge. The road sections had been 90 , even though satnag was saying 80, but then I hit a section of 80. And “ping” I’d heard about the only brexit benefit but I too have a critair sticker. I think I’m going to go to France for another month then I won’t be able to get the post!

@MrTyger11 we’re heading first to krakow will have about 3 weeks so not sure how much we will see on the basis it’s the size of France but anything you recommend from the south west re attractions cities etc
Well with regards to Stews rant, I agree, it's not hard to do these things to allow us to overnight and spend some money. As regards for free, I think it depends where it is. I stayed at the Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre last night which was a fiver and I paid it. Nothing but bins and a tap and walks, and loos and a cafe when it's open during the day, but they rely on the car park donations for the upkeep of the place, so in some circumstances payment is valid. As for Jane's rant, well we never even let Nanook off the lead, he had an extendable only, and the same applies for Wolfie. As a dog owner, I get extremely p*ssed off with people who let their dogs do what happened to you, but towards my dog. They don't know what he's like. Wolfie is a friendly boy, but it's besides the point. As for the flasher Jane, I bet your dog nearly enjoyed a sausage sandwich that day 😂

I accidently keyed in €150 for diesel in Lannion and the car only took €98 but the €52 was returned to my card within 10/15 mins in fairness.
Yeah I would of been ok if it had returned so quick but took 30 days to be refunded that coupled with two takes I had little hope I would get it back

They take money before you fill then gets refunded .If using a credit card it's just a pending payment and gets cancelled when actual amount goes thro .
If there's an option to put set amount in say 50€ they only take 50€
Yes the rest of the trip wasn’t like this I have to say the others only took what I used up to a value - this took the whole lot ( twice )
I did get it back but failed to contact the company as that proved difficult but it sorted itself but took 30’days

Another fun video. I think orally agree with you about Aires. However councils don’t have as much land as you might think. They have sold much of it to raise funds. Sadly having spent the last 11 weeks in Europe and visited many French ports sailing I wonder if the bigger issue is that iBritish society and values are fundamentally different. Britain seems much more self centred and less respectful. And accepting of others. Is NIMBY. I also wonder if the wires would be looked after by users as they seem to be in Europe?
Yes I know what you mean it’s just a shame there isn’t the desire to work to find easy solutions in say general car parks in towns and villages
I do think values are different and France as an example fights to keep local independence

There is less space to develop things. . Going back to your other channel “rant” I noticed France spends 16.5 per km of road where as the uk spends 6. No wonder we have potholes!

After that the rate is 30% through to €71,898. These rates are lower than the corresponding 20% and 40% rates in Britain, and the maximum rate - 45%

I’m with Stu on this one, over the river from me in Appledore the council have a car park where motorhomes and campers are able to stay overnight, need a few more bins but public toilets in the car park. It gets rammed, and the pub the chippy and the shop get well subscribed. Well…for now,there is a councillor that wants campers, boats and tourists banned! The cp is a public slipway as well and the gig racing teams use it every week
@johnwalkley6746 the thing is if there is just a few they get rammed but just imagine if a county like Powys in Wales can do it and all counties do it and you put max parking even if it can’t be policed it would work
