    Kyle you convinced me to join the Air Force and I watched your bmt guides/stories. I'm at tech school now and I just found out I'm getting stationed at Okinawa Aswell! Thanks a lot bro

    That looks like where my dorm building was in 1965/SAC Tankers. It was right across from the Airman's club on the main road. We had two beds, 2 little closets, and the latrine was down the hall..You young man have it made..nice..

    i've been in the air force for 15 years now. kadena was my first base. i arrived back in april of 99. we still lived in the old ww2 dorms...h style, public bathroom. they were crap but i still loved it. i was there when they built the dorms you're in and DAMN did they cheat you guys on room space. luckily i got moved into 700...a definite upgrade.
    bottom line though, i look back on my memories of oki and i am truly envious of your position. small room or not, HAVE FUN.

    You should make a video on how you manage your budget, and what you do and don't have to pay for.

    Fucking luxurious compared to even an officer's living condition on an aircraft carrier.

    Thank you for being a window into Air Force active duty life. I myself am planning on enlisting in the Air Force soon. I appreciate the videos, Kyle, and keep up the good work!

    You have got a sweet layout compared to what I had when I was stationed there in 1975-77. It was a great time for me, just had to stay away from the barracks rats.
    Thanks for the tour and the memories.

      We was there the same time you were and I'm dying to know did they remodel the dorms or what. I was supply and hubby was rescue. I lived in the Habu dorm. Remember the Habu? We got married in Naha.

    • @J297WFD
      @J297WFD 9 років тому

      Haha yes I remember the Habu. They did re do all the dorms. I worked over at AWACS AGE and I use to take my bobtail and go watch the engine tests for the SR it was awesome. Great memories.

    Are you an Eaglekeeper? When I heard they tore down our dorm, I was upset as hell until I started seeing videos of the new digs. Our dorm used to be a hospital, so we had upstairs and downstairs TV rooms, projection TV, pinball, vending machines, and we were right next to the Mexican restaurant.
    That was 1985. I was in the 67th. Cocks rule!

    When I was there guys that lived in the dorm were two to a room. At least the SP's dorms. I would rather have a smaller space and just have it to my self. My room at Clear AFS was smaller than that. No sink area and a baby fridge. Just a small room and the showers were down the hall...

    I know it’s 2019 now but I figured the military would provide WiFi. I was there in 2003-2006 as a military brat and remember dial up times, they just then started rolling out cable internet..(which you can hookup WiFi etc).

    Hey kyle, Do you think it's better to do active duty for 4 years, or reserves. Which is the better option in your opinion for college. Or just go to school and take it all out in loans.

    across from the banyan tree? i remember when they built those dorms, the people who had to move in them were PISSED! i was there in 99-01 (single) and then again from 04-08 (married). back in the day we lived in the old H style dorms circa WW2 days. single bedrooms, community bathrooms and they were nasty as fuck but it was still fun. they were across from the gym and track and behind the bowling alley. they have since been torn down. now they're just grass fields. luckily i avoided those "new" dorms that you're in and got put in 700. that was a major upgrade. shared a bathroom but that's it. we had our own sink and the bedrooms were massive.
    ah...i love okinawa. i even went to visit last year...you guys are under some bullshit rules, or rather, were-concerning the drinking and curfew. regardless, oki is still the absolute shit. enjoy your time there. you'll miss it when you're gone. SEND ME SOME COCO'S!!!!!!

    Hey man, I'm a big fan of your channel and I'm leaving for BMT in about 2 weeks. I have a question for you, I'm a pretty tall guy (6'6) would the beds in tech school/bases be long enough for me? Would I be able to ask for a longer one?
    Thanks

    Hay Kyle my name is Cameron. I plan on joining the AF begging of next year. I have quite a few questions regarding the whole process and all the small details. Do you have any other social media sites where messaging would be a little easier? Also, when your stationed at another base, do you not have check ups on your dorms?

    When you get stationed over-seas how does shipping any of your possessions you may want work out? What's the limit on how much you can bring and how does the Air Force ship it for you or do you have to pay a private company to ship it?

    I noticed all the plugs are fitted to the american plug rather than the Japanese, does the voltage convert? or does the air force pull some magic and supply their own electric?@Kyle Gott

    • @taccs27570
      @taccs27570 10 років тому +4

      All U.S. military installations overseas have the standard American 110 plugs. Most have dual capability. That is, U.S. and 220 (whatever there is). Unless you're stationed at the tiniest places, you'll find the bases overseas to be a small piece of America in the middle of a foreign country. You have to leave the gate to really notice you're not in Kansas anymore.
      Most places that I know, dorm inspections are pretty rare once you leave BMT and tech school. Maybe a couple of times a year max will they send someone from the orderly room to check to see if dorm rooms are radioactive. lol
