I was stationed at Misawa AB from 1987 to 1989. I loved my time in Misawa. I stayed in the USAF from 1987 to 1989, and it gave me everything that I have (a great wife, two awesome daughters and a five year old grandson). After I left the Air Force at Buckley AFB in Aurora, Colorado, I went to work Northrop Grumman, so I support the airmen on Buckley. Thank you for service! great stuff Wealthy Warrior!
love it all my military brothers and sisters. I served in the Marines for 8 years and WOW ...what a difference between Air Force and Marines. Truly night and day. #GOAIRFORCE
Was raised in Misawa for 14 years due to my dad's 2 tours there 20 years ago. Absolutely love Japan. I'm currently in the process of enlisting in the AF. My hope and dream is to be stationed at the base where I grew up.
Retired USAF CMSgt here, funny the things that strike you the most. In this case, it's the facial hair. No way in my day you could get away with it except if you were on leave. I'm sure the new AFI's allow it, but not in my world.
Most fun I had was in the USAF. I spent 4 years at Yokota AB in the 1980s. There is nothing quite like the military and the opportunities it offers. I spent all my overseas time in the Pacific: Philippines, Japan and S. Korea. The orient is a great place to visit. Never made it to Europe. During that time, the Vietnam war finally ended, I saw the refugees and POWs come through Clark AB, Philippines. I try to encourage young kids to join, even for a 4 year tour. You serve your country and you get to do things you might not otherwise do.
Thank you so much for your service. Right now all I do is cry. My granddaughter who lived with me joined the Air Force. She’s in her six week. Soon to graduate. She’ll be going to Mississippi for her job training. I miss her so much. Thank you for sharing, it makes it easier for me to deal with her absence.

I was stationed at Misawa AB from January 1986 to January 1988. I loved it there and wanted to extend but the needs of the Air Force came first. I am sure the base and local area have changed and I would love to see a video of what the base is like now.
Great video. I lived in Misawa, Japan in the 90s. Your home looks much better than the one we lived in. You do a great job giving a perspective of active duty life living overseas.
I was stationed at RAF Welford. It was a GSU so we were allowed to live off base once you made E4. Loved it. Even got to spend a 30 day TDY to Wales where the uniform was civilian clothes.
I thought the same thing.. just saying if any NBC does happen Japan and Korea are #1 on the list for it. Good luck getting a good seal with that, that why they have facial hair regulations. I figured that out in the Marines when I seen Submariners with full T1 operator beards lol It was explained the shaving was for a gas mask seal, and a sub is self contained so they do not need it and the hair plays havoc on the plumbing lol.
I’m a college graduate in communications/marketing + a minor in Japanese and went a different industry after graduation, specifically supply chain management. A dream role of mine is to become a brand director for a major company and I’m considering the military and its perks and core mission to help me get to my future vision. I am considering Air Force for its fit and values, and your content and words were helpful. Really interested in the PA role. What general advice could you share to someone who is deciding military vs civilian route to achieving my future vision? Thank you bro.
The military is a perfect stepping stone/career. Use your degree and try to come in as an officer. PA is great but 90% of officer jobs are the same… they manage the unit. I wouldn’t get to wrapped up about the job, do your time, secure your benefits, save your money that way you never are trapped and can get out whenever you please.
Nice video. I was stationed at Misawa from 2004 to 06 and had a great time there, and explored a lot of different areas of Japan. I'd definitely recommend Misawa.
That's crazy! You're stationed in Misawa. Our family was stationed there back in the early 90s and I have found memories of the area. I remember the big earthquake back in 1994 and being on the 9th floor of those tall residential towers (I'm not sure if they are around, heck, I don't know if my elementary school is around as there were two...one closer to the main gate and one further into the base). Anyways, I enjoyed the content and I'm glad you love Japan as much as I did growing up.
In my stint in the military I saw both Japan and many European bases. I remember more of Japan because it was a more alien culture. Europe had a familiarity that I was more accustomed to. All stations were equally rewarding.10+ years of overseas assignments.
Well, $2k + somewhere around $465.00 for food allowance as well as sick allowance isnt too bad. Maybe its just me comfortable with subsisting, or maybe im just used to being in the ditches.

After my first base I had orders to Misawa but wound up going to Ramstein HQ on a special duty assignment. Ramstein was great but I have always wondered what I missed at Misawa. There are about 15 of us in a group chat that were stationed together at Ramsein HQ. 40 years after the fact. Your making brothers forever. Best of luck!

I’m about to go to basic for Security Forces and hopefully I get Japan on my list. What would you say is the most important things to learn right away going into a foreign country
As a side note to my first comment. I was stationed at Minot during a special duty assignment and will say that it was one of the most rewarding assignments I ever had in 22 years. Is it cold you ask? HELL YES IT GETS COLD!!! But every place has its downside.
If you look at the patch (right shoulder of the uniform) you will see it’s a Wild Weasel patch and also shows that’s part of the 35th Fighter Wing. I worked with the F4 Wild Weasels back in the early 80s. So with that I’m assuming he is a maintenance troop which is part of the fighter wing. That doesn’t explain the facial hair however which is very much surprising to me as well. Typically if a shaving waiver is issued you will see hair on the entire face which you do see here as well. I will also say that the standards seem to have been way more relaxed since I retired in 1998. So I like it? NOPE but it’s not my call.
Milspouse here! My understanding is that you can usually have one car shipped over. Japan has the steering wheels on the opposite side though, so many folks buy a beater car on base. Most contracts will be 3 years now, so if you don’t extend your contract and get out after… you most likely will only be stationed at one base. There are short tours you could get that are 1 year long straight out of tech school though, so after the tour you would get Base of Preference (BOP) and get sent to another base.

I am headed to Misawa on the 27th as a contractor. Never been to Japan. I dont know anything about that area or where im even gonna stay. Scouring youtube for info. Kinda freaking out TBH
It’s a nice base. It’s country side so the surrounding area is small, but we are about 20 mins from a big city. It snows a bunch during winter and I believe that’s the biggest con.
Misawa is bit of countryside compare to Yokota. Sapporo is not that far of a train ride. Aomori and Hachinohe are nearby bigger town. Lake Towada if I remember it right is the 3rd deepest lake in Japan. Small fun fact, they have small replica of Statue of Liberty in one of the park in Aomori
Do you regret enlisting with a degree? I’m 31 with a degree and both my parents were officers and I’m worried I won’t make enough money as enlisted but ots is so competitive. I could get my masters and do rotc but I am getting older and don’t have the time. Any recommendations or insight?
I just found your UA-cam channel. I looked quickly through your videos and watched about four today. I saw your wife in a few of the videos, but there’s really no explanation on your story or how you came to be as far as your journey. Will you be putting out a video that talks about your journey where you started where you met your wife getting orders and what your future plans are also the name of your UA-cam channel wealthy warrior, I heard you talk some about investing but is that something you just started once you got in.
Agreed Focus on School and Prepare for the ASVAB if you are going to Enlist after high school. Study Hard: Make school a priority. Practice ASVAB Tests: Take practice tests to find out which subjects you need to improve on (Use Khan Academy, Grammar Hero (UA-cam), or ASVAB practice books) Score High: The higher your ASVAB score, the more job options you'll have in the military. Consider the Space Force: If you're good at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and interested in space, the Space Force could be a great option for you. Get Physically Active: Start exercising now if you are not already. This way, when you're 17 or 18 and ready to join, you won't have to rush to get in shape for Basic Military Training (BMT). Watch UA-cam videos about BMT at Lackland, Texas to see what to expect. For Funsies: Begin learning the Air Force rank insignias. - You can also look at Airman's Manual (AFH 1-1) This manual covers essential topics such as military customs and courtesies, dress and appearance standards, basic first aid, and operational procedures. Familiarizing yourself with this manual can give you a solid foundation. -The Enlisted Force Structure (AFI 36-2618) known as the "Blue Book," this document outlines the roles, responsibilities, and expectations for enlisted members. Understanding this structure will help you grasp the hierarchy and your place within it. Hope this helps and best of luck on your journey! The college ROTC/Officer route is a GREAT option as well.

You'll be sent wherever the need is greatest, and folks with follow-on from Korea are more likely to get those slots.
why are pa in japan as PA,
like what is progress to even be there its looks like its not a real task
Try being on a ship for 6 months.
When you get stationed at a base, is that different from being deployed??
Yes, when you get stationed somewhere it’s going to be for ~3 years, when you get deployed it’s typically only 6 months.
@@TheWealthyWarrior_ Oh okay is it possible to go to different bases within the 3 years (not meaning deployment)
Hi
Does the Air Force pay for your food in Japan?
I would submit a package, you never know. I don’t regret enlisting, but definitely would have preferred the officer side.
Im going to take the asvab on 30th and hoping to pass and then MEPS on 31st. What score did you get in the asvab sir?
I got a 72, I really just remembered all the math formulas and it worked out
@@TheWealthyWarrior_any study tips ?
i just hope i get stationed in the states
You got me during the chair force if you get to eat steak and lobster every day
Someone is pulling your leg
@johncarlson9921 mf its a fact over here at Hickam AF base look that shit up
Are the regs different over there or is this fake?
Can you wear uniform off base in Japan?
Where I’m stationed yes, can’t speak for other bases
@@TheWealthyWarrior_ is there a radius or anywhere
I just found your UA-cam channel. I looked quickly through your videos and watched about four today. I saw your wife in a few of the videos, but there’s really no explanation on your story or how you came to be as far as your journey. Will you be putting out a video that talks about your journey where you started where you met your wife getting orders and what your future plans are also the name of your UA-cam channel wealthy warrior, I heard you talk some about investing but is that something you just started once you got in.
I’ll be sure to make a video answering these for you!
Do you think Japan is good for a young family?
Absolutely! Super safe, and you can save a lot out here.
Do you have any tips for a 16 year old who wants to join
Just focus on school, once you’re a senior you can think about enlisting or going to college, joining ROTC and becoming an officer.
Agreed Focus on School and Prepare for the ASVAB if you are going to Enlist after high school.
Study Hard: Make school a priority.
Practice ASVAB Tests: Take practice tests to find out which subjects you need to improve on (Use Khan Academy, Grammar Hero (UA-cam), or ASVAB practice books)
Score High: The higher your ASVAB score, the more job options you'll have in the military.
Consider the Space Force: If you're good at STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and interested in space, the Space Force could be a great option for you.
Get Physically Active:
Start exercising now if you are not already.
