OMG my heart.! I just came here for the 24th anniversary of The Bends and my heart its about to explode, I just cant believe so much time has passed and yet, they still are the best band, I love this song with all my heart, so powerful.
I need to keep re-visiting this - it's so good! Q magazine stated that when Radiohead were finding it hard to nail this track 'they took a break and went to see Jeff Buckley at London's Borderline. Returning to the studio inspired, Yorke sang the song twice and burst into tears'. Didn't do any harm!
With Radiohead music is more than just listen, you must feel it, breath it, shout it, cry it, live it, its absolutely part of you; if you can't with that, then continue with empty appreciation
Love The Bends, definitely their finest work, I love all of the albums, but Thom's songwriting has never been finer and Greenwood just knew how to make something beautiful out of a guitar, you've also got to love the pessimism of it, ending on a song which Thom Yorke once described as "most songs have some form of light as where street spirit has nothing, just death"
I hate when people put down a Radiohead album or compare them there all fantastic in their own ways and are all masterpieces, Radiohead are the best band ever :P genius.
This was an instant classic when it came out in the 90s. This particular live performance is awesome. Better than the studio version. Thank you for posting this.
This song reminds me of her, because she said to me that it reminds her of me. Now that she is with him, this is all I have of her....memories. Fake Plastic Trees reminds me of her now in only the best possible way. The best Live version I've heard on UT. Tks.
I remember that here in Brazil this song was part of a commercial that talked about children with Down syndrome... That was around 1998, 26 years ago... Time passes so quickly...
I remember when I first discovered this song I was lying in bed, listening to radiohead, and it was 4am and I couldnt fall asleep then this song came on and the lyrics and everything, it all makes so much sense, how hard it is to find real love, and I dont know but it made me feel somehow and I cant really describe it
i discovered radiohead when in rainbows came out and was blown away, and now i own and love EVERY SINGLE album they've ever made, and i have quite a few of the 2-disc ones, everything they make is golden!
A cracked polystyrene man, who just crumbles and burns.. I picture a worn out old man crumpling up empty beer cans as he finishes them and chain smoking cigarettes
@IamTheScorchedEarth i got to respectfully disagree, kid a was their release into experimental music, making them far more than a rock band, into an innovative band. They are leading the way for many bands since then in my opinion.
a mean plastic action man fights a chinesse slaughtering fan in a fake plastic world he fought for the common man in a gown and some rubber pants and it wears him out, it wears him out
This Song is basically about canary wharf... more specifically about the lives of the people who work there, i think. (Canary Wharf is an office block district in London, It's got loads of money going through)
@Snyltetast I guess not anymore, yeah I know, I was like... well, maybe they're gonna release it on new years or something, cuz they've already done that with scotch mist, but maybe It'll be this year!
Radiohead's best song in my opinion.
KyleSummerBeach
I taste the same
Agreed- not even close
Its my favorite song in whole radiohead discografy
However, paranoid is their best song
No suprises
si, yes, siiiiiiiiiiiuuuuuuu
Thom really nailed those notes this time. True perfection.
This is genuinely one of the best sung and best sounding live versions of this song, if not the best one.
@@unclerogerANKI Glastonbury 2003 is much better for me.
OMG my heart.! I just came here for the 24th anniversary of The Bends and my heart its about to explode, I just cant believe so much time has passed and yet, they still are the best band, I love this song with all my heart, so powerful.

I feel like the final verse in this version was just perfect. It was incredibly intense, and that along with the feeling in Thom's voice was spot on.
My thoughts exactly 😊 hope you’re well. 👍🏻😎
this song brings tears to my eyes. literally when he says "if i could be who you wanted all the time"
I well up in the first verse.
21 años y todavía suena y se siente tan bien como la primera vez.
Totalmente de acuerdo
claro que sí, es lo bueno de las grabaciones
With Radiohead music is more than just listen, you must feel it, breath it, shout it, cry it, live it, its absolutely part of you; if you can't with that, then continue with empty appreciation
Yes sir
Radiohead is on a level all of there own. Amazing.

If you listen enough, every Radiohead song is their best song.
2:56 what a riff!!!! Omg so depressing and energy at the same time
Doctor: You have exactly 4:46 minutes to live.
Radiohead: Take my hand, son.

They really are the best band out there. Incredibly honest in everything they do.
melancholic
They usually are. At least is a bit less stalkerish than creep though or Karma police even.

Apparently, Thom did the vocals for this song in just two takes. Genius.

my fake plastic love

If I just turn and run
If I could be, who you wanted
This version is just so fantastically fantastic! I love it! GAH I LOVE IT
The beauty of this song is only matched by the mastery of the band- especially Thoms vocals. He hits high notes that only angels are capable of.
i'm in love with this radiohead. it's official.
i discovered radiohead when in rainbows came out and was blown away, and now i own and love EVERY SINGLE album they've ever made, and i have quite a few of the 2-disc ones, everything they make is golden!

I dated a fake plastic tree, and I loved her dearly.

I love that people have been able to enjoy this performance in the form of this video for 10 years. A decade of Fake Plastic Trees.
So many emotions in one song. This song makes me feel of those emotions with all of Radiohead.
