Someone else may have pointed this out by now, but I believe this song was inspired by a Jeff Buckley performance (he used to cover "Just Like a Woman" which has a similar lyric delivery as this song), and Phoebe has been on the record saying Jeff Buckley's Live at Sin-é was a favorite record growing up (and I believe his cover of "Je n'en connais pas la fin" probably inspired "Savior Complex"), which would make this cover of "Fake Plastic Trees" a full circle. Jeff Buckley -> Radiohead -> Phoebe Bridgers.
Tom York wrote this song after a night out drunk. When he got home he felt extremely depressed and Fake Plastic Trees was born. It’s an incredibly difficult song to sing despite it sounding effortless. And she makes it sound totally effortless and angelic all in one go.
Hey -- my French isn't great, but doesn't Je n'en connais pas la fin mean "I don't know the end"? Reminding me of Bridgers' I know the end... I love these little realizations.

Lyrics❤
[Verse 1]
A green plastic watering can
For a fake Chinese rubber plant
In a fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
[Chorus 1]
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
[Verse 2]
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the 80s
But gravity always wins
[Chorus 2]
And it wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears
[Verse 3]
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
[Chorus 3]
And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
[Outro]
And if I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted
All the time
All the time

This is the best cover I have ever heard
Its incredible how I've heard the original a thousand times and yet if I just heard this without the title I would have thought it was a phoebe original. Such a fantastic song and cover!
How this hasn’t gone *"Ultra"* viral by now, is literally beyond me… What a damn masterpiece, sung by an absolute angel! Heaven sent, I bet you!
Damn singing chops on display. Honest to the emotional rise and fall of the song. My eyes were wet just after the crescendo, as per usual with this song. Pheobs, nice job.
PB was qued and inspired by that beautiful Arlo Parks piano rendition and arrangement. Also true to the original. Stellar performance. TY and Radiohead well honored.
Perfect tempo to showcase Phoebe's vocal phrasing beautifully. Thom would be proud, PB.
I would like to listen to this for three hours straight and cry and I don't think that is unreasonable
A cracked polystyrene man... Thom Yorke knew (knows) the feelings of desperate emptiness. Yorke performed three takes of the song and cried afterwards.
