- Phoebe Bridgers x Arlo Parks perform a stripped back Radio 1 Piano Sessions version of 'Fake Plastic Trees' by Radiohead for Phil Taggart's Chillest Show
I'm a 7 month old developing fetus that's usually focused on absorbing nutrients from amniotic fluid. Not Phoebe's typical demographic, but wow, this makes me want to be born.
Welcome to the world! We need you.
Dude! You fucking win the internet with this post! Awesome.
I thought phoebe's music makes people wanna do the opposite of that
Lmao
this made me laugh so hard
I'm a two day old caramel custard cooked in an unusually large pie dish, so not Phoebe's normal demographic! But I have to say, I'm a huge flan.
(flan in the face)
this is horrible lol, good job
Kudos sir...one of the funniest things I've ever read. 👏
dammit colin
🥧
I'm a ceramic garden gnome brought to life by a child's wish, not Phoebe's usual demographic, but I've come to enjoy her music while contemplating my existence.
Why is the idea of that beautiful and emotional 🥺
🤣
She’s awesome.
Ceramic? Youre a Cracked Polystyrene Man…
this is exactly her demographic
I’m a 913 year old skeleton who spends his time laying silently alone under 118 cubic feet of dirt, so I’m totally Phoebe’s typical demographic. And just, wow, I’m so glad she came along and continues to bring awareness to my people.
After looking at your profile picture, I can confirm you are in fact, a 913 year old skeleton.
proud to be the 1,000th upvote to this excellent comment
Why is everyone just putting out comments like this
what they do in the shadows
Good job Mike!
I'm a 26 years old huge circular construction with rotating metal blades inside, probably not phoebe's target demographic, however I am a giant fan
This comment needs more love
LMAO
this cheered me up a ton, hahaha
That's pretty cool
Bravo. Well played.
I'm a 54 years old factory worker in Northern England, not exactly Phoebe's usual demographic, but ever since hearing Steamroller i've been a fan. And this beautiful cover version of one of my favourite Radiohead songs is just testimony to what a special talent she is.
I love this comment!!!! My parents are around the same age and I wish so much that they listened to more music than just the 80's hits. Keep being your awesome self!!!
@@Mentalhealthadvocate Such kind words, just made my day, thankyou so much my friend. ☮️
@Jacek Kaminski No.
This is the best, Paul.
@Jacek Kaminski Go on then, if it makes you happy I'll be Gav's Dad. 👍
I’m a fake plastic watering can that’s used to water fake rubber Chinese plants, so not Phoebe’s usual demographic. But wow this is amazing.
😂😂
And I'm a girl from the 80's defeated by gravity, this almost gets the corners of my mouth up into a smile.
Phoebe is good but can we get some love for Arlo Parks.....Brilliant artist in her own right and a classically trained pianist to boot!! Brilliant collaboration. Covering one of my favorite bands and songs of all time is priceless for me. Love it!!!!!!!
I'd love to see Arlo cover this.....hearts would melt!!!
Arlo's voice is soul moving, the pure emotion she channels into her notes is a thing of true beauty.
Yes! Was hoping to hear Arlo's voice on this. Love Pheobe but to hear Arlo would've been interesting too.
Arlo brought me here, she's amazing - her sound is right here, right now xx
No
Phoebe Bridgers sings like she's trying not to wake the dead.
Wouldn’t that just mean singing at a normal volume?
then in i know the end she summons them as she always could
Somehow that makes sense...
Whoa that's powerful
she is. it worked for me, 5 stars
*sees thumbnail* "I didn't feel like having a good day anyway"
lmao
I'm a little 84 year old piece of lint that's managed to cling to the family heirloom quilt after countless wash cycles (both washboard and spin-cycle). Not Phoebe's typical demographic, but wow, this really makes me want to get stuck in someone's lint trap.
All you "Not Phoebe's typical demographic" lint + people are just fingin nutts funny, thanks for bringing so much humor into this little corner of the universe!
"Gravity always wins" - one of my favourite lyrics of all time.
Sara Bareilles knows it too
"Love fades" woody allen
That's "heavy" dude.
Great line and my other favorite RadioHead line is: "There's always a siren singing you to shipwreck" (from "There There"). Aren't we the cheery ones!
@@meisterburger8420 Probably my favourite Radiohead song, the way it builds and builds is superb. And the lyric "Just coz you feel it, doesn't mean it's there".
Arlo Parks playing so sweetly for Phoebe Bridgers soothing voice. Just about the coolest girls making music right now.
We just got a song!
"She tastes like the real thing" is a devastating line. Especially with the melody it has. Especially with how Phoebe sings it.
God I don’t know how it hits so hard
That's the breaking point. Every single time.
My fake plastic love
And the line "he used to surgery for girls in the 80s, but gravity always wins" is so fucking funny. This is one of the early examples of Thom being a great lyricist.
I’ve gone back over the whole thing….then gone back to the original to check. About Ten times now. “ and I can’t help but feeling, I could blow through the ceiling” beautiful cover.
I'm an 85 years old Eritrean salt miner who usually just listens to people dying on liveleak, but I'm a big fan of Phoebe and wow this is a special cover.
Underrated comment.
Ultimate comment.
Perfectly placed below the 54 year olds’ comment above. Properly pee’d myself
These are the type of comments I always look for on UA-cam. Thanks for not disappointing me this time!
Kudos
I'm 4 and a half year old gerbil and very few things will draw me away from my food pellets, but Phoebe's beautiful voice all ways makes me stop and take notice. I feel like she understands what it means to have an average life span of about 6.5 years and wanting to make the most of it. I feel like her music says "everybody calls me a cute little hamster, but really I'm a tortured gerbil" and this message just connects with me, ya know?
Seriously though, this was really beautiful!
Arlo and Phoebe supremacy
"Make you cry" supremacy
The echo off the ceiling during the "blow through the ceiling" lyric? Goosebumps
I'm a middle-aged traveling soap salesman with dissociative identity disorder, not quite Phoebe's usual demographic. But this cover makes me want to give up my IKEA nesting instinct and trash my fucking khakis and just be the all-singing, all-dancing crap of the world.
Remember the first rule fight club

Just do it. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
His name is Robert Paulson.
Where is my mind - is the next track?
I've never heard of either of these women but I'm a big Radiohead fan so thought I'd give it a listen. Very impressed with her voice and delivery! She clearly felt this song.
I recommend you also check out their music, they are two of the most extraordinary musicians of recent years
Naw noting compares to the original by Radiohead which sounds genuine .. this and other covers sound like forced hipster emo garbage sorry
think we all needed this rn
Yes
Exactly
her gestures potray so much urgency and emotions like... WHEN SHE LIFTED HER HAND 😭😭
Never in my long existence did I ever, ever, ever think I would listen to a cover of Radiohead's original which would leave me speechless ... Just class ladies ...
I'm a 113 year old Asian shoe maker and im always telling my 95 yesr old son that music is not dead. This performance proves it...
Phoebe's falsetto is making me feel something. I really shouldn't cry in the morning, or should I?
Crying is good at anytime of the day. It's a sign of being alive. 😉
10pm is not the morning, at least not here ;)
Fake plastic trees make it mandatory to cry.
It's making me feel something. Like I'm gonna throw up. What a shite cover
Its not called falsetto for women
This better be played at my funeral
Funeral by Phoebe Bridgers better be played at my funeral
When's that gonna be?
Say when
Me too
Mourners are us available at this No.. 0141-666-0777 Cheap at half the price
As one of Radioheads biggest fans since I was a kid, this is the the best version by someone else… I’m crying. Absolutely beautiful
I agree. I think it's even better than Radiohead's version.
@@tonyhaines3093 no.
@@tonyhaines3093 nope
And holly humberstones
They did amazing too ua-cam.com/video/vzT3XgFmAwM/v-deo.html
Arlo Parks is so great, and love that she's a big Radiohead fan. I like how much she's concentrating on reading the music! Difficult song to cover I think because of the emotion of it, but this was terrific.
You two need to do a whole project
never has someone dressed as a skeleton made me feel so much, only phoebe.
What about Johnny Lawrence ?
My son in his skeleton pyjamas did. He was 15 months old, that was 18 years ago. She's now the second to do so...
Donnie darko
And Flea, live @ Slane Castle :3
twenty one pilots?
I love Phoebe Bridgers so much. Funnily it wasn´t me, but my 57 year old Dad, who discovered her and spammed me on whatsapp with her songs until I finally really listened and started loving her. Ever since then, Phoebe (and other artist in that genre like Alice Phoebe Lou or Courtney Barnett) has been something that my Dad and I bond over. We keep sending each other new discoveries and just rn l sent this video to him (I expect he´s gonna answer that he already knows it and I´m way behind on what´s happening in the music world). Our mutual dream is to see Phoebe live on stage and we hope one day she´ll come to the south of Germany and play a concert. I´m so looking forward to this day. Thanks Phoebe for strenghtening the connection with my dad so much.
This really happen?
Haha yes it's true! My dad is way more up to date with what's going on with alternative music than me :D the most recent band we love is wet leg.... This time I introduced him to it though. :)
I absolutely love Alice Phoebe Lou too! Her cover of Walk On The Wild Side is really good.
I also couldn't help but notice you subscribe to Not Just Bikes and Alice Cappelle too. Two of my favorite channels!
It’s super common in his demographic like old dudes love Phoebe Bridgers it’s wild
i’m one of the few dinosaurs that didn’t get wiped out by that huge asteroid, way back when. not phoebe’s typical demographic, but this definitely keeps me alive.
shes the same age as this song... its weird to think how old this song is
I’m a 15 year old bisexual, exactly phoebes demographic target, and I’m a huge fan
🤡🔪
Lmfao
hey ur 17 now how is it?
Bro even looks like her
You been in a dude and a lady at the same time, then? 👍
Phoebe, I am a 49 year old man, and watching you perform this song made me weep, like a child. Thank you. Love and godspeed...
This is on repeat for the rest of my life.
Yeah man...yeah... I feel ya.
Same guys.
Me too
arlo and phoebe two amazing people
My favorite female singer covering my all-time favorite song! THIS IS SO GOOD
FCSiemen _ mine too , incredible ! Not only is this one of the best all time radio 1 live lounge but also one of my favourite live performances ever. I hadn’t heard of her before this. After listening to her other music this remains the best
@@charlottejaywilson4506 You definitely have to listen to Walking on a string by Phoebe and Matt Berninger thats remains my favourite Phoebe song
My all time fav too. Fantastic rendition.
i'm a big Phoebe fan and I'm not sure i've ever heard her voice sound this pure
Saw "fake plastic trees" and "phoebe bridgers" and clicked the like button immediately. Just knew that combination was going to be incredible💕
I wish I could have an album of Phoebe covering all of my favorite songs. She’s already covered two of them... so beautiful.
What was the other one? I wanna check it out :)
Billy Messenger Friday I’m in Love. So good.
@@dinobelli6360 oh nice, I'll check it out. Yo La Tengo also does a great cover of that song too
@@dinobelli6360 Oh my that one's good thanks for reminding me!
For sure.
Peek a Boo by Daniel Johnston
Fake Plastic Trees by Radiohead
Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus
Iris by Goo Goo Dolls
Can't remember all the others, but these ones in particular are incredible.
I’m a 31 year old rusty steam train from northern Ukraine- one could say something far from phoebes demographic. However I am a massive fan of hers after listening to this
Stay strong brother
I’ve been a Radiohead fan all my life and a good Radiohead cover always tears me up. This is surely one of them.
Being a father who grew up 25 years ago with Radiohead and all the Brit Pop, I can say I love u both, and I really understand the meaning that this song has. Arlo I love u and please never ever change!
Phoebe Bridgers if you are seeing this: YOU LEAVE ME ALONE. YOU LEAVE ME ALOOONE!
My new fav vid
Three years after you, SAME.
This is nearly perfect. The surgery line, the ceiling part...i can feel it in my whole body wow
I cried and it was a glorious release
Yeah, this killed me.
This song crushes my soul and has done so since it was released, during one of the most depressive times of my life. This version is just as soul-crushing as the original and that's a good thing. Wow.
If I could be, who you wanted...all the time...all the time :(
This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard period
Arlo has such a stunning side profile and their voice is just- wow
One of the most moving things I've ever heard.
Having really hard panic attack for tomorrow's hospital appointment. At least tomorrow i can listen to this on the way 🥺 I'm glad.
As someone with anxiety, you can do it. Keep breathing. I believe in u
Good luck for tomorrow
Keep yourself balanced, breathe deeply when you feel you're losing your grip. You've got this!
Hope you well ❤️
good luck
Imagine she covered the AMSP version of True Love Waits, i'd die
ok yes
For a moment I though you said Tom Waits :D
@@doublefrangelico true tom waits is still a great title track. sing that.
YESSS I WOULD CRY TI THAT ALL THE TIME
Let's make this happen!
I'm a 622 years old warlock living at the bottom of a Scottish cliff so I'm not really the intended audience here, but let me tell you, the pipes on these two wonderful young ladies really mimics some kind of familiar sorcery that I haven't experienced in a long, long time. Bravo, young witches, bravo.
I'm a billion year old star. Not Phoebe's typical demographic, but hearing this makes me want to implode and become a black hole.
It sure hurts to hear that bbc radio bumper on this sublime performance I'm bound to re-watch dozens of times
une reprise magnifique ,une voix cristalline ,électrisante ,la mélodie au piano est démentielle ,une perle rare ,émouvant!!!!!!
This is my new favorite thing of anything in the world ever.
2020 got a whole lot better. Bless her, and everyone who made this happen.
Yeah .. voice of an angel
I'm missing half of a (virtual) festival for which I literally paid a ticket just to watch this on replay on and on. And I have no regrets.
this is absurdly perfect. There's just so much talent in this.
1:33 spontaneous and raw emotions like her putting her hands up are exactly why I love Phoebe so much.
I always wondered what it would be like in a town full of Robert Plants. And how you would tell the real Robert Plant from the fake Chinese ones.
You'd probably just have to ask them all to sing
Lmao I cant unhear ‘robert plant’ now haha
I thought it was only me who has always heard it that way... Thank you, my brother.
Bahahaha!
Ok, that made me laugh.
Lyrics❤
[Verse 1]
A green plastic watering can
For a fake Chinese rubber plant
In a fake plastic earth
That she bought from a rubber man
In a town full of rubber plans
To get rid of itself
[Chorus 1]
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
It wears her out
[Verse 2]
She lives with a broken man
A cracked polystyrene man
Who just crumbles and burns
He used to do surgery
For girls in the 80s
But gravity always wins
[Chorus 2]
And it wears him out
It wears him out
It wears him out
It wears
[Verse 3]
She looks like the real thing
She tastes like the real thing
My fake plastic love
But I can't help the feeling
I could blow through the ceiling
If I just turn and run
[Chorus 3]
And it wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
It wears me out
[Outro]
And if I could be who you wanted
If I could be who you wanted
All the time
All the time
Usually I don't like Radiohead covers but this is awesome
Check out Mike Massé
@@Ssshmoo I will, thank you
Phoebe can do no wrong.
Phoebe's got pipes, damn!!! No idea she had this type of range. Beautiful rendition. Great accompanyment by Arlo as well.
This is the definition of perfection
Arlo Parks for the 4th member of Boygenius.
This is probably the best Piano Session that I've had on the show!
You could tell when listening prior and after the performance, you wasn’t joking or overstating it. Incredible performance.
Sounded incredible. Which church?
What an awesome cover of one of the world's most beautiful songs. When things are dark there is always, always, always music to live for.
I’m a 54 year old plastic surgeon who used to work in the 80’s. Things have gone down hill recently but this is just my kind of music
Gravity always wins.
my two favorite artists singing my favorite song...
Now i can rest in peace.
I'm the 41 year old daughter of one of the best dads to ever exist and unfortunately, he passed away a few days ago. I probably am Phoebe's typical demographic but I never looked into her or Arlo Park's music but this has inspired me to. Not sure it'll help my fragile state of mind while grieving but in case I ever wake up and say "Wow I really am not bored of crying all day so let me turn on one of the most beautiful covers of Fake Plastic Trees", I can now do so :) Also, the comment section is one of the best I've seen in a while. I'm even willing to listen to the extremely loud and startling "BBC RADIO 1" intro that has probably busted someone's ear drum by now. In conclusion, amazing cover of an amazing song by amazing artists!
I could listen to Phoebe and Arlo cover Radiohead all day long. Beautiful...
Oh gosh this is so beautiful. This is by far my favourite Radiohead song. I never thought it was possible to sing this song better than Thom but you managed to do that. I have goosebumps and can't stop crying. Thank you so much for this amazing performance!
Completely GUTTED by this rendition!! Thank you both.
I'm back here again to hear how she blows the ceiling off when she sings "I could blow through the ceiling".
One of my favorite Radiohead songs and they absolutely nailed it on all fronts!!
Watching this daily...gives me chills every single time.
There is not enough love here for Arlo Parks who is also an amazing artist
This was so moving and incredible, just beautiful.
How this hasn’t gone *"Ultra"* viral by now, is literally beyond me… What a damn masterpiece, sung by an absolute angel! Heaven sent, I bet you!
God damn these ladies rock. What a beautiful duet/cover.
Hits you in that spot 🌪️💔
I've loved this song for years this arrangement and vocal is just so beautiful!
This is the best cover I have ever heard
I don't think people understand how good this is.
I think most people just understand how good the original is.
Whoever made this happen should be very, very pleased with the results,... just wow!
It's great to see two talented musicians coming together to perform such a beautiful and emotive song. Their rendition of "Fake Plastic Trees" really captures the spirit of the original while putting their own unique spin on it. I love how their voices blend together and how the piano adds a new layer of depth to the music. It's a truly mesmerizing performance.
I love how you can tell that her favorite line is "she tastes like the real thing"
this is literally my favorite thing ever to exist
I would like to listen to this for three hours straight and cry and I don't think that is unreasonable
why does this feel like a warm embrace?
this is my favorite Radiohead song, she always does a wonderful job with every song she sings. gotta love her. mad respect.
This version is everything I could ever ask for from an artist. This is pure gold. I can't describe all the feelings I get from this. This may be my top cover of all times.
A cracked polystyrene man... Thom Yorke knew (knows) the feelings of desperate emptiness. Yorke performed three takes of the song and cried afterwards.
This is the most beautiful thing ever I'm literally crying oh my god
Pheobe Bridgers covering radiohead is the combo I didnt know I needed aaa
Her voice hits something deep, and it's hard to listen to a single one of her tracks without bursting into tears. Wow.
How have I only just found this? Lovely cover of a brilliant song!
