    Wear sensors work by breaking the circuit of the wires in the sensor. Not grounding , just for future reference

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  5 місяців тому +1

      True! But some work on grounding as well. Thanks for the comment!

    Good video. You’re right, it be better to use a caliper retractor instead of a clamp. Thanks

    Great video man!…one ?…Do you “need to disconnect the plug from the electrical brake or can you leave it plugged into the electrical unit?..Is there any difference in leaving it or not leaving it plugged in?…Thanks man😁

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  Рік тому

      No problem. If it's not in the way, leave it connected. If you do disconnect it, it may throw a code but should reset itself.

      @@Motorcarnut and its clockwise on the gear turn

  • @HowardVincent-jh1mk

    The clockwise/counterclockwise resetting of the brake sensor with a t40 wrench became a bit confusing. The video shows you turning it clockwise to screw it all the way in. You couldn't decide if you were going clockwise as if facing the part or counterclockwise with your left hand. Otherwise this was in excellent comprehensive video. Thanks!

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  Рік тому +7

      Sorry for that confusion. You turn it clockwise as if you were tightening a bolt. I know I said counterclockwise that was wrong but in the video I’m turning it clockwise.

    I'm assuming the scan tool electronically screws instead of taking the parking brake motor off and doing it manually correct?

  • @IvanLopez-zy7oo
    @IvanLopez-zy7oo 10 місяців тому

    Did you have to put the car into maintenance mode? Or just take off the electronic module and reverse the caliper?

  • @samuelhart5670
    @samuelhart5670 Рік тому +1

    might want to redo that clockwise counter clockwise its clockwise good vedo

    Clockwise... But what happens if the plunger does not go back far enough to allow the caliper to go over the brakes? It need another 1/2" or more

    • @Motorcarnut
      @Motorcarnut  2 місяці тому

      Did you try compressing it while turning it in?

    • @cowboy112051
      @cowboy112051 2 місяці тому

      @@Motorcarnut I since have compressed it, without the motor attached...and it seems to work, but the "Parking Brake Malfunction" is on. looking on youtube, it appears that this can be reset. Soon to try it.

    you probably should always clean and put new grease in the slider pins.
