    Great video! Don't forget to replace the little rubber caps back on the caliper retaining bolts to keep them sliding and keep dirt and grime out.

    What about the rear? I'm not seeing an existing video. I have the pads changed by watching this. But there is a "BREAK" light still on. The "drive moderately" warning is off though.

      I currently do not have a video demonstrating rear pad, rotor and ABS sensor. Please provide me with more detail. Did you touch or engage the parking brake? Did you touch the ABS sensor on the rear passenger wheel? These may be the issue.

      @@drive-chriscapredoni it is not the parking brake light, as that one is different. It's to the right above the oil temp gauge. I only replaced pads though. Not the sensor. Does that have to get replaced also?

      @@MidKnightriderR6 Yes I recommend replacing the sensor.

    You forgot to put grease on all the small contact surfaces between the pad hooks and the bracket. And the torque is 110 Nm (81 lbft) on the bracket bolts.

      I only put brake grease on the back of the pads where they mate to the caliper piston.

    My rotors look like they’re in excellent condition and the brake pads just started to make a little noise. Is it OK to change the pads without changing the rotor?

    • @drive-chriscapredoni
      @drive-chriscapredoni  8 місяців тому

      Yes of course. Just make sure that the rotors not only look good but are the proper thickness. Find the thickness tolerance online. If they are too thin or warp, you will need to replace them as well.

    A question I'm going to ask you!! I have changed the silemblocks of my x5 e70 with 160,000km, I have installed MEYLE HD, Reinforced!! After the change I now notice that the car vibrates a little between 80kmh and 100kmh, the steering wheel vibrates a little, it's not much, but before it didn't happen to me. We have balanced the two front wheels and it has been corrected somewhat, but not completely!! Could you tell me what is the cause of these small vibrations? all the best

    • @drive-chriscapredoni
      @drive-chriscapredoni  10 місяців тому +1

      It does sound like an alignment or camber issue to me. Have all four wheels ok?

    • @josecarlosdelacal5806
      @josecarlosdelacal5806 10 місяців тому +1

      As I told you, before changing the silemblocks I didn't do it!! This has started to be done with the new Meyle HD.
      As I understand it, it may be due to the hardness of the new silemblocks when they are reinforced.
      The tires are good, they are not staggered or anything like that.

      If someone else did the work you need to go back to them and explain the symptoms. Also maybe research the new product you had installed and see if there are any side effects or issues it creates. Different density materials react differently--more dense materials can create more vibrations.

    Axle stands, axle stands, axle stands. That's a lot of car to entrust to a hydraulic bottle jack!

      There is also a 3.25 ton floor jack supporting the sub-frame

      But still an hydraulic one? I would never, ever get under a car without mechanical supports. Maybe that's just me?

      Very good point. I had two points of support and with this job was never going under the vehicle. Your point is well taken :)
