The thing that I like about these OG guys, is that they spent crazy amounts of time searching for the "right" sound, which was hard to do with the gear at that time. They were basically helping invent the technology of rock'n'roll; with the pickups, the amps, the pedals, the modifications. Now we can all go out and buy all the parts & pieces to modify any guitar to our liking, but back then, they had to think up what they wanted and then how to build it, or have it built. Very cool, very inspiring.
Exactly. The limitations of the time is what created rock. If you wanted heavy distortion you had to crank your amp. If you wanted to learn a song or an instrument you had to do it by ear. It was natural gatekeeping to keep shitty musicians out
Cool and all, but only 50 were made and they are only affordable to wealthy collectors and speculators. The Iommi replica "Monkey" SG guitars are too valuable to be played, so I don't see the point really. If one does actually play one of these guitars, it won't make you sound like him even if you cut the tips of your fingers off. Only Tony Iommi sounds like Tony Iommi. I'd rather get a used Epiphone Elitist SG at a fraction of the price---built in Japan and made so well that Gibson forced Epiphone to stop making them because they were much better quality than Gibson's factory SGs.
I would rather honestly have the normal SG standard even if they were the same money but I’m a musician not a gatherer of collectibles . If it was for charity it would have a good vibe. (Gibson are still up there in the top 3 with Fender and Ibanez imho. )
@@scottbembry5255 I don't believe people buy this in order to play them considering the price. For the price they are asking for, I could buy an original Gibson 65' SG Special and modify it, plus buy two orginial Laney LA100BL Stacks with the Original Rangemaster and modify it. It'd even be less expensive ... Or Even buy a Jaydee and I'd have an amount of money to build myself a rather great Home Studio. Only for collectors, not for players.
Niall Phillips I mean, Iommi’s original is the reason why you’re able to listen to the heavy metal music you listen to today and literally every metal band post 1970 so yeah $16,000
@@J36-f6y if they keep making guitars like this they won't be making many more guitars, just saying. This is why the younger companies are murdering them
Niall Phillips I see your point, but they’re also limited to an amount of number to make and on top of that fact that, no matter how much we hate it...it is Gibson, theres more people out there in the world who dont care about that price compared to how many of those are made
Kotow Boy well obviously? You think that somebody would pay $10,000 for a regular dark burst LP? Probably not but once you put Slash’s name on it and have him sign it, people are going to buy it. Its all about the names and history that go behind it
LMAO I had to make all these changes because my original wasn't that good. 5 figures for this replica? Come on. This is why Schecter, ESP, Godin and a host of small companies like Harley Benton has a market. They may not have the prestige but they make the sales.
Well, don't expect him to talk fact here because this is a paid job. This is what he does nowadays. Who can blame him for doing so. Tony is beyond all doubts.
Hearing that SG on those early Sabbath albums is the #1 reason I picked up a guitar in the first place!

Andor Kiss the SG is a great guitar because it’s a Gibson and the price isn’t ridiculous. £1K will get you a proper musicians guitar
Tony is always so humble 🖤
Perfect guitar for Tony and collectors. Would never get one to play.
I guarantee you if he played them back-to-back he could tell them apart.
absolutely!
HISTORICAL release!!! Hail the Riff Lord 🤘🏻❤️
PRAISE IOMMI!
Love Ya Tony, but Gibson has lowered its quality and raised price.
I have seen it especially in the video of the Black S. "The end of the beginning". Fabolous!
A few years back I found a beat up Sg in a bin, I gave it to the guitarist in the band I play for and he was very pleased
Him and Christopher Lee have the most god like voice.

If you want the real deal Iommi SG then get the Jaydee version. This one's cool but not for that price.
The jaydee ones are pretty expensive also unfortunately
His epi one is the way to go
4years ago epiphone signature guitar

This man is a legend

LOVE Tony..... But for Gibson to charge this much is just criminal.
Not in market but would have preferred a non relicked version
Buy a new SG special and you have it. Plus 15 grands left over.

Just by rep, there are plenty of guitar companies that do it as well or better.
Will Gibson make any that are left handed?
Of course, tony being left handed, from what i read 25 are left handed models and 25 right handed
OctAaka47 yes but we are talking about Gibson
@@scottbembry5255 You buy the pair. 25 Right Handed, 25 Left Handed. That's what's stated on a website where they sell one.

$16,000, it has holes in the body and you put that cheap sticker on it..
